    DMR/M14 any tips?

I've seen both 400m and 350m zero, not sure which one is correct. The wiki says 400m, and that seems to correspong with what I've experienced using it. Another thing to keep in mind about the DMR, is that you don't have to zoom it all the way in to make a shot. 800m is below the post at full zoom, but not zoomed out. Definitely practice on the range if you intend to use the DMR. Once you know how to use it, it's pretty effective. The goal I have right now is to be lugging around both the DMR and the M14 AIM, since I like sharing magazines. I like the M4A3 CCO I have now, but I don't like having to use that extra space for the different mag requirements.
  4. If that's the only mistake you found, I'm sorry. lol I tried to put at least 5 in there.
  5. So what your saying is people aren't able to spell, and you loose you're shit and have to make a seperate thread just to rant and rave about it? Seems like your over reacting just a tad, I'm sure they're posts weren't that upsetting.

    Ammo troubles.

The only sniper I like to use is the DMR. On occasion if I get the opportunity I'll use an M24 for a change of pace since I already have ammo for it by breaking down DMR mags. I find at least one DMR mag every time I hit Balota, and I find them in Fire Stations quite a bit. I usually have 4 or 5 mags before I ever get ahold of the rifle, so I tend to be set until I pass out of existence. I find M107 mags there occasionally as well. And I know what you mean about the matches. I've never had a problem finding a compass, a map, hunting knife, or an axe. But fuckin' matches... usually it's the last thing I find. Of course once I loot some matches off some guy I find 3 boxes in the Zeleno supermarket.

    First nade kill

I usually carry one with me, but haven't had the opportunity to use one yet. Everyone I encounter is either too close, or too far. I did have a death from a grenade though. I was in a good mood, and I ran into this guy on the coast, and we decided to play together for a bit. I had no gear, he didn't have much either. I think I had just respawned recently. So we hit up Cherno for some stuff, and we find a pile of dead bodies in the fire station. One of them has an M14 AIM, which I had been trying to find since day 1. I was happy. I believe he found a frag there, or he had it already. After that we headed West to hit Balota and the deer stands between there and Kamenka. We got lucky again, found some more decent weapons, and we were just about fully geared up. We decided to push out luck and hit Stary, so we started running. We aggro's two zombies from the deer stand we had just looted, and they chased us up the hill. My new friend had a great idea, he would throw one of the smoke grenades he had picked up in Balota to distract them so we didn't have to waste ammo. Good idea. Pretty much as he was throwing it, I hear "Oh shit, run, I threw the frag", and we bolted... and we didn't make it. Those damn things are dangerous. :D

Is this what you call a bandit?

The thing I find entertaining is that some people try to make a distinction between real bandits, and just plain assholes. As if to be a real bandit, one must politely kill you and jack your shit. Why the expectations of being friendly while murdering someone? Being a bandit has zero to do with being nice, and everything to do with taking your shit by force. Which he most certainly did. He may be an asshole, yes. But that's still 100% banditry. But really, who the hell is concerned with a persons manners while they're killing you?

    Your ideal Day Z map

I'm a huge Fallout fan, so I obviously approve. However I like the Fallout 3 map better, I think it has the better balance of wilderness and urban, and I especially like the subway system in FO3. The only thing it would be missing are actual wooded areas, similar to the area around Jacobstown. The FO3 map is way too open once you leave DC for a game like this. As it stands there isn't much urban anything in Chernarus, it's probably 90% wooded area. Something like 30% urban, 60% mix of wilderness and fields, and 10% smaller towns would be most excellent in my opinion. I also like the idea of having natural terrain obstacles such as rivers, lakes, cliffs, etc.

    Dexter | Heinz Beans! | S06E03

It makes sense now. The Tooth Fairy found out about DayZ on Goggle, and it turned him into the psychopath he was, and gave him a craving for Heinz beans... I can't believe I didn't see it before!

    CZ550?

I think I might have found two in the last several months, both in barns. It's a shame though, since I do find the ammo everywhere, and I do like them. I seem to run into DMR's a lot more than the CZ.
  12. All I'm seeing is people explaining why they don't prefer to play with younger players, and some people relating experiences as examples. I haven't seen anything that could be construed as adults being immature, or anything that could be considered kids being immature, either. So I'm not sure I understand what you're getting at.
  13. I tried a couple of combinations before I said "Fuck it", and wrote a keybinding script. Then I found one later online that had better functionality than the pathetic one I wrote, which I now use. GJ on the brass knuckles, though. I lol'd.
  14. When I was younger I thought I was mature for my age, too. I wasn't, I just didn't know it yet. I didn't have the perspective that I do now at 30... and I don't like playing with younger people either, for a lot of reasons. They DO all say they are mature for their age, but they have no idea what it means. It's easy to act mature when you're having a good time, or you're trying to impress people (to get them to let you in their group). In most instances, that maturity goes away the second there is a disagreement about something, they get upset, or they get bored. Maturity isn't how you act in a social situation that is going well, it's how you respond to difficult situations in an interpersonal setting. Don't get me wrong, many adults are terrible at this as well... and I don't want to play with them, either. But I can say from experience that the odds are not in your favor, so it's easier to play the odds than to go through a dozen children without social skills to find one that's okay. It's just the way it is, guys. And then there is this. All the guys I play games with online are adults. They're my age, or very close. I think the youngest guy I play with is 22. They all have jobs. Out of school. Half are married, some have kids, some don't... but I have something in common with them. They are responsible for themselves, their own protectors in a way. I don't want to deal with your fucking mother because I have a dirty fucking mouth, and am some 30 year old guy on the internet. It could range from something as simple as "I don't want you playing that game with them anymore", and taking your computer... and we're now short a player... or on the extreme side, "I think this guy is a pervert.", and all the legal bullshit that comes with it. TL;DR, you're kids, and whether you know it or not, or whether you like it or not, you have baggage that comes with it. It's nothing personal.
  15. So I came into a few pieces of missing gear earlier from a fallen wookie, namely a rangefinder. I quickly discovered that it isn't working, it only reads 0. It is in my bino slot as well, just to make sure I put my NVG's into my pack and dropped the rangefinder, and picked it back up. Still reads 0 I know some hacked weapons will behave differently than legit ones, could that be the case with the rangefinder? Because right now it's just a fancy set of binoculars.
  16. Those of you admitting to sniping Elektro - have you ever used an AS50 TWS to do it?
  17. I never take AS50's anyway, I don't like the things. I very much prefer the DMR or M24 personally, so it's all I'll use for precision weapons. Most of the time when I DO find an AS50, it's in the hands of a dead sniper, in a ghillie, with an M9 SD, and every other bit of gear in the game. It's like I find the same guy over and over again. In every one of those instances I have hid the body, with the AS50 still in their hand.

    Prefix as role indicator.

I'm already a bandit in a bugged Hero skin. I hope this catches on so I can have [Hero] Variola I'm only half kidding. The skin gets me shot at more often than not already, so no harm no foul.
  19. At least the grass isn't breaking legs yet. And I'm not always sniping players. Often times I'm just scanning an area before I move in or through. You know, being careful. :D
  20. Thats... so obvious, I don't know why I didn't realize it. :|

That was a close (blood count)

A little less than 200. I managed to bandage myself between bouts of passing out. I also had a broken leg, and was planning to crawl to Cherno and make an afternoon of it, but after about 2 kilometers I decided I was close enough to the coast to just suicide and come back for my gear....

    DayZ Weapons - A Question?

DayZ US would be interesting. If it exists, we have it in private ownership. Then add to that the huge number in Government usage, you would be tripping over guns in the woods a few weeks after Z Day. Though we don't keep them in barns typically. Who knows what would end up where in the Apocalypse, though. That's why I don't sweat finding a suppressed M9 in a fire station, or an Enfield in a school. I assume that they weren't kept there, laying in the corner before the apocalypse, but that they ended up there in the chaos, etc. Hell, I have a trust set up specifically for suppressors and machine guns. The only reason I don't own an M82 is because I don't have a good place to shoot one (yet). My .308 bolt gun works well enough for most range days under 800m. Cheaper, too. :D

    Griefer-Hunting

The only reason it's hard to kill these idiots on Dobry or the Cherno silos is because of combat logging and ghosting. The only time any of these snipers actually get a FRH on me is if I'm in a highly visible spot, stopped, and looting. If I'm moving I'll generally get away just fine while they pop off dozens of rounds at me. They're terrible shots. They aren't clever at all, because they use the same stupid spots all the time. They use AS50's and Ghillies as a crutch, since they need all the help they can get. I'm not mad when these guys kill me. Usually it takes them forever, and at that point I'm already laughing at their ineptitude. If the 15th shot is the one that hits me, it's luck and not skill. Luckily not all snipers are like this. It's just that the ones you hear about or see the effects of are the Elektro/Cherno campers. They aren't a fair representation of all snipers in the game. My 3 week old character died the other day. It happened because the other player outsmarted me. Fair kill, and I really hope he got the good stuff I was carrying. Looking back on it, I died because I overlooked something that should have been obvious, but apparently I got complacent. I would love to see the combat logging AS50 BushWookies live on medium/high pop servers without an AS50 or a Ghillie for several weeks, while actively searching for kills, and then actually looting them. They either can't, or won't. So anyone who kills them has my beans.
