    No. There is no reason to force such a thing. It would `punish` people for connecting to a wrongly labeled server. The only way I would agree with a timer on reconnecting to another server is after a forced quit and the `ghost` of the player is still on a server' date=' but feel that this shouldn't be longer then a minute. If the ghost dies or DCs, the timer should be gone. Agree with the rest. I feel it would be fine to add timers in the game itself for DCing, and the `penalty` would honestly be a ghost, though would have a proper system behind it that removes the ghost once the person reconnects so they can't farm their own body and dupe things.

    Just don't server hop for loot. I wish that could be patched out. Would be nice to see loot vanish in a certain radius of a spawn if someone keeps server hopping in a certain area. If you ask me, that's even worse then DCing to avoid death.

    Idea for player spawns.

    Searched and couldn't find if this was suggested before, so gonna outline my idea here. I feel that with the current "no weapon spawns" it would work better then before. I would like to see spawns being randomized across the entire map, in the towns and only in houses, not stores/military sites/barns etc. If every house in towns that you can enter supports a spawn location, you would start in a secure area outside of the zed LOS, you have chance of grabbing gear that RP wise you would have had in your house and it would make for a lot more tension while starting due to having to find out where you are and how infected the region is, and adds to the tension while exploring the north, since people can spawn there as well. Due to the high amount of spawns it will become less productive to re-spawn until you are near Cherno/Electro etc and it might push players in more of a direction of getting to know the map and just legging it to where they want to go, or to stick around and explore where they spawned in. With the current change in spawns PVP players can easily camp the coast with good gear and just destroy the newly spawned players without much risk, but with a global spawn system this entire situation is dealt with and there wouldn't really be any safe place to 'camp' anymore. Feel free to punch holes in the idea, but please remain constructive.

    Agreed. Guess there is not a lot of interest in full map spawns then, but would still like to see more opinions on the matter to get a better idea. Thanks for the feedback people.

    How about we just see where it goes with the 5 second timer. If you are shooting at someone, it should be enough to kill them in that time, so they have to think before doing it instead of instantly alt+f4. Unless people will actually be decent enough to not DC, this is a good solution for now. Sadly we can't force people to have the decency to sit out a fight and/or wait till the shock icon is gone. I personally hate DCing in a fight and prefer to wait and try to ambush my attackers, last time i almost got 3 kills by just waiting it out. Sadly the 3rd person killed me, but atleast i took 2 down with me. Would also prefer to see a DC timer that you can stop (so no ghost on server, just a timer while you have control) but I'm quite sure that rocket is looking into other solutions aside from the 5s ghost.

    Yes I do agree a little, as I said, would be nice to get a system in the background that will count times you did things and thus gives you a speed boost in performing some actions. Faster bandages, morphine etc. Sure people playing longer will have more of an advantage, but you only keep this advantage if you stay alive. It should reset on death. Wouldn't this be a more elegant solution?

    Loner is already penalized, you are alone and thus don't have any way to secure lost gear after being shot nor help when being shot at.

    Yea it kinda is. You should still skin the boar though but that's about all. Nope, but will probably get it running in 3 weeks if the proper tools and parts are available. I'm a quick learner. just don't ask me to look for the parts, that's a whole different ballpark. In general though... since there is no backstory, you have no idea as to what your schooling is. People that spawn are already hardened survivors since they are still alive, so good chance they are ex-military and as such got taught quite a lot. I could support an innate learning system that is completely in the background which improves time spend on doing something though. Say that after 10 times repairing something it will go faster due to having more experience or something along those lines.

    - Well, do you know how to treat a dead boar to get the max meat out of it? Ehhh, shoot it, slide open the stomach, remove the intestines, jab a stick through it and hang it above a fire. - Do you know how to repair a Helicopter or fly it? Repair.. no, but give me a week or so and I can get quite far. Flying.. well, aside from all the buttons, that shouldn't be to hard. practice makes perfect. Must add that I usually suck in games with vehicles aswell, so need to learn it either way. - Can you remove a bullet out off your leg? Sure, don't ask how much damage I will make while doing so, but that bullet will get out. - Can you repair a nearly destroyed car? See repairing a helicopter.

I'm not exactly sure what side you are taking' date=' I didn't read the entire forum But I would like to say, "us" being DayZ community, they chose to Roleplay with us when they joined the server. since Dayz is a role-playing game ;) [/quote'] Not taking a side, it's just that I play both sides in DayZ. In my opinion DayZ is a survival game, not an RPG, just has RPG elements. I would roleplay with people if they would approach me with it, but until then, I'm just trying to survive as long as I can while playing as much solo as I can, since I prefer to be alone in real life aswell.

    If you know how the system works, then you will always have the proper items in your inventory and not in your backpack. You see your blood dropping? bandage! You see your screen shaking? Painkillers! You have broken bones? Morphine! I actually feel that this system is faster. You don't have to scroll multiple times after an action, you just right click what you need, right click the next thing you need and done.

    They are punished because their only real choice is "Roleplay with us or get killed and lose everything". Getting to that further on. Look don't get me wrong, I don't mind the RP in the game and I've seen some good plays and all, but when it comes to binding people etc without choice, it goes to far. If they pass out and you can just tie them up (while they can't do anything.. even talk!) then the choice is 100% gone and they're forced to deal with it even if its against their playstyle/choice. At this point in the game you can approach anyone with the intention of roleplaying and from their reaction you will see instantly if they want to or not. Isn't that enough?
  17. I like the ideas (no matter how troll it could end up being if you can push/kick players off stuff). BUT don't really see how this is different from regular melee aside from not using objects. In the end it would all need animations, seeing as you have 3rd person and even in 1st person you would see your arms/leg going forward. As razor said though; whatever at this stage, it's only alpha and it wouldn't really bother me either way. Btw; Could do same with knife/hatchet now. Push button and zombie gets damage.

    And we are back on forced roleplay. If the body stays behind and you shoot it because someone doesn't want to RP, they are effectively punished.
  19. Personally don't have this issue while shooting zeds with my trusty Makarov or M1911. I never use my primary weapon for zeds since the bullets are way to valuable and the guns way to loud. Might just be me, but this kind of reads like "oh no, I get aggro from killing zeds with my loud machinegun!" Do agree that spawning is quite fast though.
