    New Clan the Cherno Champions

Forum Name: Pat_the_Bunny Game Name: Pat_the_Bunny Age: 25 Gender: Male Mic: Yep Play Style: Passive as a loner, but in a group of competent players I tend to be a thrill seeker. I'll be the one to run head-first into hail of bullets to revive a teammate, or aggro a group of zeds to draw them away. Humanity (Number or type): 2500 How long have you been playing: Roughly two months.
  2. I haven't played in a about a month because I wanted to wait until I got a mic to communicate with, which I finally did, and so I decided to give the mod another go. I updated using the DayZ Updater and downloaded the most recent beta patch(94700 I think), but when I try to join any server I get kicked while I'm still in the lobby. My only guess is the beta patch may have something to do with it.
  3. I've tried both and still get kicked.
  4. @CrissCrow It's not as bad as a lot of people make it out to be; this is mostly bandwagon complaining. You'll get shot by people, but as long as you don't stick aound the coast and make an effort to communicate with people the going should be fairly friendly.

    Passwords for tents

A bit off topic, but I always thought it would be neat to set tents in fire.

make the crossbow 1 hit kill again for zombies

I agree with Chickenfeed. I love the crossbow, and I do believe it needs some work, but one shot kills is too much.

removing bandit skin transition is a fail

No one want to die. Ha, fair enough. I should have elaborated a bit. I don't understand why people think that just because you can't distinguish one from another now that they have to shoot everybody. The people who are willing to help outnumber those who don't, so not everyone is gonna blast you stright away, and having the attitude that they will is what's driving up the PKs.

removing bandit skin transition is a fail

    Why are people so paranoid?
  9. I agree!! Look at the Call of Duty series, it blew up with Modern Warfare, but died off pretty quick after that...

How to stop people from playing Day Z

This is pretty much the attitude you have to have if you plan on enjoying thsi game. A large majority of us have been in the same boat as the OP, and it is frustrating, but calling it quits for good is a bit of an over reaction.
  11. Ha, I like that you hide behind the "This is just my opinion" line, but come off so matter of factly in the rest of the post, such as, "The majority of people who actually play this are most likely scrawny, weak teenagers or morbidly obese. No, I'm not trying to offend you. Just stating a fact." To the point though, I disagree that new players are raging away from the game because of the player killing; some without a doubt have, but I get the feeling a good percentage of the new players are coming to the game solely for the ability to run amok and have almost no penalties for doing so. Is it the way people would actually behave in situations like this, not really, but that's the fun of playing game.
  12. Try going prone. I've had similar issues getting things out of the outhouses and this has worked so far.

    Wanted! dead Bandits

Not a bad idea. What server is this?

Implement a currency item such as gold coins.

    We're all survivors now
  16. This gave me some respect for rocket; we may be the players, but it's HIS game (as well as the rest of the team) and the fact that he called the players carebears means he hasn't forgot that. I'm hoping he keeps doing what he feels the game needs and doesn't listen to all the whiners we have around here.

    Comparison with COD

Agreed with the whole post, but I especially agree with the part regarding Citizen Kane. A buddy of mine told me I HAD to watch it because it was one of the greatest movies of all time...and I did...for roughly thirty minutes. For it's time I'm sure it was amazing, but so was the toaster when it first came out.

    Names Of Trust

Repost from last week, but relevant to this thread: I was looting Zelenogorsk a few days ago and kept seeing some one ask for a transfusion. The guy seemed pretty desperate so I figured I'd ask where he was to see if I was willing to make the trek to help the guy; turns out him and his party were just arriving at the southern end of Zelen, so I told him I would meet them and help the guy out. I was pretty sure I was walking into a trap and was going to get a bullet in the brain, but I met up with the group with no shots being fired and gave the transfusion without incident. I figured that would be the end of it and I started heading back to my looting, but I noticed the guy I had helped, who's name was James, left his group and was following me. I was a bit on edge about this at first, but I reasoned if they were going to try anything it would have been while they were in a group and I was out-gunned, so I asked if he needed a rifle and when he said yes I told him I would escort him to the barns in the NE of town to grab some gear. We were sneaking through backyards and across streets with no real issues when a zed spawned directly in front of me and went instant-aggro. I booked it into the nearby field with the zombie in tow and checked to make sure James was alright, but saw that he had three right on his ass, so I cut between him and the zombies to draw their attention and once I'm a good deal away from town I unload my Winchester and remedy the situation. After that was taken care of we continued our journey to the barns without any further conflict, and I escort him safely back to his group. The instant we met up with his group I get disconnected, so I don't know what happened after that, but in a land of bandits and turncoats, I'd like to think I made at least a small difference. TL;DR: Gave a transfusion to a total stranger, escorted him through town for better gear, saved his life on the way, and got him safely back to his group.
  19. I said he wouldn't get many reasonable answers, not he wouldn't get any. There was always a risk of working together, even with the skins, and that risk is no greater now than it was then. I've been helped by poeple in bandit skin, and needlessly gunned down by people who weren't, so basing trust on appearrance never gave you and advantge, it just gives the illusion of one.
  20. Having the bandit skin unbalanced things; taking it away evened it out again.

    CoD Zombie Mode!

I must be the outlier here, because a majority of my encounters with other players have been civil.
  22. I've seen quite a few people suggesting that players with low humanity need to be punished in one way or another, the most asinine of which is the "wait x minutes per y murders to repawn", and I have yet to find any reason why this would be even remotely acceptable. I'll admit that I've raged a bit because I was taken out by some one perched on a rooftop in Cherno, or because I get shot at mere moments after I respawn, but such is the atomosphere of the game and trying to penalize people for adding some risk and uncertainty into an otherwise tame world is utter garbage. Without "bandits" what threats are there? Zombies? Not really, considering you can out run them for as long as you want and their numbers have been diminished to the point that I have to go out of my way to get more than five following me at once. Survival? Nope, because you have more than enough resources from the moment you start to make it from one end of the map to the other, and there's plenty more along the way. Without other players trying to kill you the only real threat you would face is gravity. I for one welcome the risk of crossing through a field not knowing if there's someone with me in their sights, just waiting for the right moment to take me out, or sneaking through town to grab supplies only to turn a corner and be gunned down by a group of strangers, because situations like these are where the tension comes from, not the zombies. So as long as they aren't cheating/hacking/exploiting the game in anyway, I say we let the PvP nuts have their fun, because without them this game would be little more than a nature hike simulator.
