DayZ was a mod for Arma 2, the main difference between DayZ and Arma 2 is the zombies. So that should answer the question about which came first (Arma) Arma is a fantastic game though, and I would highly recommend playing it so you can get a feel for DayZ as it's not much different in terms of playstyle etc. There's all sorts of fantastic weapons and devices on Arma which aren't in DayZ (yet) such as thermal imaging scopes and NVA's (Night viewing aids) you can even get hold of stingers, javelins and tanks on there. In fact, if you're only a player of the mod, you might want to disable the mod and check out some Takistan Life servers on Arma 2 OA, purely because it's full of roleplayers and will give you some easy target practice. I would say play Wasteland too, but that tends to be awfully laggy due a fucktonne (that's a standard unit of measurement here in the UK) of global objects. Hope I helped a little :)

Best way to lose zombies that are chasing you?

Run. Running through houses used to slow them down in the mod, not sure if it does on here or not, I think it does though. So run through a house. Make sure there's an exit first though. -
Exactly what it says on the wiki. I mean, I'm not sure if anything like that's been implemented yet, but there you go. Future update, probably.

Natural selection mate. On topic: Very nice, will most certainly be of use. -
First person servers. Sorted.

Nice find, but I think I'll give it a miss for now ;)

Anyone have Black and White Graphic ?- DayZ Standalone
Kocot replied to davc123456's topic in New Player Discussion
It's a pile of shite mate. You want a saline drip. -
Lovely, I knew you could do it but I never bothered trying. Questions: Does diving to prone A ) Allow you to be ready to shoot from the dive straight away? B ) Go prone normally if you're not running?

This one time, in Cherno, I hit a guy with a fire axe. Broke his leg and dragged him into the street, lit up flares around him and watched the horde violate him. Mod.
-
That. I'd recommend keeping hold of the rounds, you never know what you'll run into. Drop as necessary I suppose.

Welcome. Most of us are alright, but there's a few bellends about. Have fun.

You're usually able to nick one from any small town really. If you're struggling to find one I'd suggest hopping to a low population server then nicking it off there. That being said, it can bring about bad habits and people who do server hop for gear are generally disliked. So don't go to the NWAF/Balota/Any military structure and server hop to loot. Because no.

Axes aren't meant for stabbing.

I've not read the posts in the thread so I don't know if someone has posted this or not: Saline for blood if you're grey. Solution for blurry vision: Esc > Video > Esc and it should be back to normal.

I've found that overall, DayZ SA runs much better than the ARMA mod. So far, I can't complain.

You know, as horrible as your English was. I'm not going to slate you for it because your idea is fantastic. I was considering posting about this myself, did a little searching and came across your thread. You really should go into a lot more detail with the whole thing, but all in all, it's a fantastic idea. Imagine, screaming over the trees in a Merlin to arrive at Cherno moments after, kick out the fast ropes and have a squad of your mates straight into the zone to either A) Secure an objects B) Medevac a wounded comrade Or my favourite C) Fuck shit up. I'd like to see some sort of parachute deployment system too, along with a little control. Rather than it just automatically opening and you just flop out and that's that. You're a sitting duck. I wanna see some HAHO/HALO shit.

Nevermind. Stuff has just gone tits up on my end, so chances are I won't be able to play as actively as I like. I'd be a little unreliable. Going to call it quits now before it goes ahead. Thanks for all your applications guys, I'm really sorry to disappoint. Kind regards, Kocot

There's not really much of a rush. Take your time (:

From what I've just read, you seem like you'd be an excellent addition to a small squad. Ideally, I would like the group to become a pretty formidable force, eliminating bandits and helping the newcomers. Assaults on know bandit camps are something I would really like to get into. There's just something satisfying about taking their loot and destroying their tents. Whilst my actions may indeed seem a little "bandity" (New term, it'll catch on) I do indeed enjoy saving people. The main goal however, is to get people away from the shoot-on-sight mentality most people have adopted on here. I've yet to work out all the details and organise a meet-up with those who wish to join. Hopefully going to get the ball rolling tonight/tomorrow.
-
Righto. Been a little inactive recently due to other commitments, however two of you've been accepted. You know who you are.I'll add your name to the thread. Still looking for three more. Hopefully gonna organise a meet-up between ourselves soon!
-
Sterlok and Sneaky. If you're still game, I'll accept you both for now. As for the others: The time zones may prove to be a little bit of on obstacle at the moment, however, we shall soon get over that. Then your application may be accepted/denied. I know it's not much of an application, but hey ho.

That's perfectly fine. I'll get back to you all in due course (Most likely tomorrow morning)

The Bandit Dilemma: An Inner Look at the Economics and Psychology of Banditry and the Inevitable Collapse of Day Z
Kocot replied to Chiefmon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A very well constructed post indeed. You can have some of my Heinz for that. However, I personally believe that bandits do indeed make the game what it is. The constant state of awareness you have to maintain whilst you're around other players. You know the one I'm talking about.. The one where you don't lower your gun. Ever. Yup, that's the one. That's what I like about this game, and why I keep coming back to it, again and again. The thrill of hunting, or indeed being the hunted. Personally, I'm a survivor but I have no qualms about eliminating any threats to myself or my party.
