    Plane Bases

so basically like Airforce 1 then? flying around built, and piloted by random civilians in a post-apocalyptic russian back country.

Sabotage, for the more sinister minded.

The answer to that question is dependant on the situation. 1. Chance encounter at close range In this case your either startled, or calmly defending yourself and your self interest. Increasing survival rate. 2. Long range snipe where he poses little or no threat. Not really at all. But since the world of DayZ isn't dangerous enough, we can afford this 'luxury' Eliminating the 'luxury' of easy survival should be the focus, not finding other random ways to kill people for amusement.

How does this help me to survive a zombie apocalypse?

    Nasakinai's Immersion Ideas

I don't like the idea of 'classes' at all, although skill progression based on things you do repeatedly would work well. You ideas on gathering info from the environment are very good, especially dropping trash! for which I give you beans sir (from a recce soldier who knows how important it is to clean up after yourself when your in the field)

    Make DayZ Scary Again.

If your curious about how an arms race has destroyed a potentially great Sandbox type game, Play Eve online. No offence to you, but this is a very common comment and if it actually influences Devs, it starts a never ending arms race for bigger better faster more deadly etc... Focus must always be on creating the survival experience, not on selling games to who ever complains. I understand the business model, I understand that consumers are paying for a product however, consider this game as much art as science. If the objective is to evoke emotion from the player (other than excitement) then certain limitations must be placed on the experience. Just my 2 cents.

    Punishment on death revisited

Its not about being helpful, it is about bringing pain. In order to create that fear of death there has to be actual concequences. Yes casual players will rage quit and rant on forums. They can go play WarZ, (assuming its actually being developed) which seems to be tailor made for DayZ-lite enthusiasts, or casual players who can't handle the shock, disapointment, and anger associated with playing such a risky game. For those who are hard core into 'survival' not death match or easter egg hunt, it could be a truly epic experience. Rocket, if your out there, please study Eve Online and what they did Wrong. Create the world you want, don't pander to loud complaints of "I won't buy this game" Tonnes of us will, and even more will come out of the wood work to take on this monumental challenge. Tired of easy games you play through? Want a real challenge? Then prepare yourself for some seroiusly unpleasant moments. Just my two cents.

    Punishment on death revisited

I say yes, and to hell with everybody and their 'that inhibits my play style!' Yes, it does, and it creates a certain effect in-game. Namely a serious fear of dying, since there are actual concequences to it. Which is (and correct me if I'm wrong) what this game is actually all about. If you want to run around with a (Car/Axe/Machinegun/etc) and do whatever you want whenever you want. go and find another game. Just because its a 'sandbox' doesn't mean the Devs and community don't have artistic liscence to create an environment to encourage a certain play style. Want fast action and instant gratification with limited wait time? Go play CoD.

    Microphone (Proximity)

uh how about different hotkeys for 'whisper' 'talk' 'shout' etc.

    Dayz and 'perks'

agree, as long as you lose the accumulated skills when you die.

    Loot in the DayZ Standalone

instead of spawning loot piles, it can spawn searchable locations, which may or may not result in loot once searched (which takes time), which takes time. Drawers, cabinets, boxes, closets etc etc by 'it' I mean the SA
  12. John Spectre

    No map in the standalone?

just get rid of GPS and 'You are here' marker on a map. make it a real map that you have to read like a normal person.

    A brainstorm of DayZ Ideas

whoops you said COD now everyone will laugh at you However, leveling skills based off performance and successfully completing actions is perfectly within DayZ if: You lose it all, when you die :)

    suggestion

no to this, With the stand alone, if its balanced out to not be insanely PvP heavy, new players might be helped out by vets who want to play it that way. Or, let them learn like the rest of us, trial, error and youtube lol.

I think it stands for Day-Zero, not sure though

examin corpse to determine time and cause of death.

tie it to skills and I say yes.

Death and the destruction of gear

well thought out sir, but I tend to disagree with your position lol Sure, we need more loot sinks in the game, otherwise it will slowly but surely fill with AS50s.
  22. John Spectre

    Stop flaming play-styles.

'Bandit' generally implies 'robber' etc... 'Bandits' who kill to loot needed supplies add to the game. Snipers who sit on hillsides and indiscriminately kill add absolutely nothing to the game. I don't really care if its your 'playstyle' I think it ruins the game, and therefore I will speak out against it, particularly as the Stand Alone is being written as we speak, and I want my voice heard as to how I believe the game should be. just my 2 cents
  23. John Spectre

    Concerning "Hating Bandits"

welcome to eve... err DayZ A system of law enforcement, posting and earning bounties, tracking people... something. These are the tools needed by members of the community to enforce certain behaviours. Rocket said (ergh I said Rocket said) he doesn't want a heavy handed approuch (I agree fully) but does want to put tools in the hands of the players to make the game what it will be. Too many losers up on the hill shooting fresh spawns? time to saddle up and join a posse and go huntin'
