Player corpses disappearing in new patch?
zealous replied to lexxer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Same problem. Noticed zombie corpses suddenly disappearing too, although that doesn't really matter I suppose. Killed a bandit, went to loot, got a couple of things then the body disappeared. I could still hear flies, but no body was there. -
Bandit/Survivor Morphing to be removed
zealous replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I'm hoping that it's delayed because clothes will be included in the same patch :D -
Rocket was told when pitching the idea of Day Z that "players say they want stuff, but they don’t really want that stuff, and when they get it they will hate it." I.e. "People don't want a gritty, realistic free-roaming multiplayer zombie survival game. They want Call of Movie: The Game." One buggy alpha release, and a hundred thousand players later... WELL HOW BOUT DAT?
-
Dude I'm saying that Rocket may be the only producer in the world who isn't retarded.
-
I'm getting bored of it because so much time is spent walking. I want to play this game, but spending 90% of my time with a pencil jammed in my W key to keep running in a straight line isn't what I call 'playing' a game. I'm sure this will change with later updates :)

An interesting idea, would obviously have to be very difficult to construct. I hate the clan tag bit though, sorry. Would break immersion and also look silly seeing: --==420xXxkill4hN0sc0peSniPahMLGcL4NxXx420==-- type shit around the place. Not bagging your general idea though, would be great to be able to customize all vehicles. Actually having vehicles to customize might be a good starting point though...
-
Thanks for the positive feedback. Like I said, I think Rocket already had a similar idea but with out the whisper, talk and shout groups, so it's not totally original. What would be even better is if voice only had one group - and the radius in which players could hear you/zombies would be alerted to you was based on how loud you actually were over mic. Would be really hard to program though :P

Agree totally with the OP. Crossbow obviously needs a lot of work, it's a very "Day Z" weapon so I'm sure it'll get the attention it deserves. I just can't wait until it does. Also, I would love to see a few variations on the crossbow, i.e. one with a scope and one without; with the scoped crossbow being rarer.

Sounds like easy mode to me...

There should be a lot more vehicles including cars, motorbikes, boats and bicycles in towns, BUT: Towns should be more dangerous, with more zombies, making it harder to access vehicles AND Vehicles should require a lot of parts to get working, but once fixed should have realistic fuel usage It's a 225 square kilometer map. Make players work for the transport they need to get around it, rather than just not giving them any.
-
Yeah, the only reason I can think of not to add more vehicles is if it adds server lag. I've played on normal ARMA servers with a lot of vehicles though, and they seemed fine. The other important thing is fuel. It should be realistic usage, I should be able to drive at least across the map in a car with a full tank (but fuel should be scarce). Further in a motorbike (but obviously without anywhere to store a fuel can). I don't know what it's like now because I've never found a damn vehicle as they are far too rare, but I've heard bad things. The map is just too damn big to play without vehicles! Most people stay at the coast, and it's a huge waste of playing area. Rocket seems like a really smart guy, so I'm sure something will be done to address this. Inland spawns and more vehicles that all need fixing would solve this problem, I just hope that's what we get :)

Minor value suggestions and changes on consumable items.
zealous replied to JinxX's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
+1 for tea. Not sure about the rest, but damn. Tea. Get that in-game ASAP. -
I see what you're saying, because at the moment if my blood gets really low I just suicide because the video effects are just too annoying to deal with. I think it would work with a stat-based system in which each stat starts at 1 and grows very slowly to a max of 100, at which point the player gets a very minor increase in that attribute. E.g. running speed starts at 1, which is what it is now. For every few kilometers you sprint, you gain one point. At 100 points, the player gets like... a 5 or 10% increase in running speed. So it's only a running speed increase of 0.1% per every few kilometers, and the player isn't notified when that stat goes up. That way it's barely noticeable, but gives you a reason to hold on to that character. The same thing could be done with sneaking, swimming, bandaging speed, etc.

Random Perk System (hear me out/not COD)

Seconded.

When there's no moon, I'd like to see it pitch black in forests, but brighter in the open due to light from the stars. That would be the most realistic. Not sure if that's possible though.

DayZ needs objective other than survival
zealous replied to pogoman979's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think it's a great suggestion. I just also think Rocket will inevitably implement it, at least to some extent, eventually :P -
What kind of video card do you have? My buddy noticed no performance hit what-so-ever and mine is completely unplayable. I have a Nvidia 670 and he has a 9600. I wonder if it has something to do with the newer Nvidia drivers? I have a 6950, so it's not Nvidia

Leaving to stop zombies from killing you problem
zealous replied to nickya1's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think a 10-20 second timeout for your in-game character (even if you Alt-F4), as in most MMOs, would solve this nicely. I just sort of assumed that would be implemented later on. -
I think it's a silly idea unless you could tie a rope to them and tow them behind a car or motorbike at high speed, thus allowing players to shoot at zombies and players while burning down the freeway at 120 kph in a wheelchair.
-
Yeah I noticed a huge performance hit on one of the servers I was playing on. Weather seemed normal. It rejoined later and it was raining and lagging even harder if that helps. Another server was fine, framerate was the same as before the patch or maybe even better.

This would be really, really awesome. Not just for looting; also because you could use that lone house in the middle of nowhere as your home base when playing with friends. I think it would definitely be possible, but a hell of a lot of work. The models for the houses would all need to be replaced with modified houses that are openable. There seems to be around 10-20 unique houses in ARMA, I think it would take a couple of days work to get one house looking nice and setup with furniture, doors etc., so in total it would be a few weeks of work. Someone who is a wiz at 3D modelling, especially architecture, could volunteer to modify all the unopenable houses. I'm sure Rocket would use them if they're done well, he seems like a nice guy. Otherwise, just wait. This seems like something Rocket would do eventually anyway, because it's a good idea. Good ideas kind of seem to be his thing ;P
