Bad Serial Number given in Setup (& more!)

I just found the solution. Close Steam down, go to task manager, processes tab, and end the Steam.exe process. Then run it as an admin, and it should ask you for login info. Then verify the cache, and then run it. Just make sure to end the process, or you aren't really running as an admin.

Bad Serial Number given in Setup (& more!)

I should add that if I just try to launch OA without the DayZ mod, I get the 'bin config.bin/cfgingameui/mptable.shadow' error.
  3. So I'm getting the infamous "Bad Serial Number given in setup" error, and absolutely none of the fixes I've tried worked. I have: - Run Steam as an Administrator - Reinstalled the damn thing - Tried the regedit fix, but all of my settings were set according to the instructions already, and I could not change them. - Verified the cache for both games. They always say "1 file missing, will reacquire" then I get a little popup saying download is done, but the file still hasn't been reacquired. - Run ARMA 2 first. -Tried launching through PW6, but I get the error that no key was added to the registry for OA, please run it through Steam first. Does anybody have any other fixes that might work? I just want to play the damn game.
