  1. Being a toon supporter, and currently living in Stafford (about 25 mins from Birmingham), you may be recieving an application from me in the very near future gentlemen!
  2. In DayzCommander there is an option in the settings to launch with steam. Have you tried to update to the latest patch through DC and then ticking the 'Launch with Steam' check box? Not sure if that will help
  3. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I spawned in on the top of Cherno industrial after a little bit of successful bandit hunting with an AK-74 the other night to hear flies. Climbed down the ladder, found a dead body. Looted a couple of AKM mags, hid body. Was a dead bandit. Flies continued to buzz, so i went down another level. Two more dead guys, a bandit and a survivor. Had a quick check of the bandit. Oh dear god. GPS, NVGs, Rangefinder, M14 Aim, DMR mags, M9SD with 5 mags, all the tools... You may of shot those dudes who were bandits, and i have no problem with that, but i was slightly annoyed that you shot the Hero skinned player named 'The Medic' who was looting their bodies. Saying that though, when i came back a half hour later I was rather happy you didnt shoot me again. Thanks for killing a Bandit and giving me my first set of NVGs, my first GPS, and my first rangefinder, as well as my first M14 and second M9SD since i started playing. If i find you in-game, have some beans.

To the two guys on DK10 in Cherno...

Haha he did have a dif name, but changed it after the fact we seemed to keep getting hit by hackers, and the fact he wanted to try get near to a town rather than the wilderness so seemed to enjoy aggroing zombie hordes to kill him. I dont know, some people eh?
  6. You still can, just makes it more interesting. You can still find stuff in as you would, but the point of the game is survive. 10 minutes in any large town and thats it. You can survive forever. Least having to go scrounging your food makes life a bit more interesting. Means you have to interact, have a bit of risk. Player run towns would take away the risk, unless a group of bandits decide to try overtake the town. Enjoy sitting in your woods, miles from anybody then dude. If thats what you want to do, then so be it! Personally though, i cannot see the attraction of killing sheep for meat and sitting by a pond. The best part of the game for me is the risk. I posted earlier about a friend of mine who managed to kill a couple of dudes and upon looting them managed to find an M16 ACOG and plenty of other good stuff. THAT certainly beats the electro/cherno snipers who pick off people with hatchets for the hell of it. Fair play to those guys for not logging, and for sticking it out and taking it like men. They lost a LOT of good stuff which mostly came from heli crash sites. But thats part of the game. Whats the point in looting NW airfield or Starry then sitting by a pond? Collectors of weapons might enjoy it, but its no good sat in a tent miles from nowhere just because people dont want to lose it. You can play the game however you wish, but seriously, if you enjoy that kind of stuff, you might be better playing something else. Its easy mode survival. As i stated, maybe cooking a tin of food in a pan over a campfire could give you a better health boost over cold food, still meaning you need to head to the woods. Or how about the fact you cant eat cold food, meaning you HAVE to make a camp fire and eat it off that. Something to make it more of a challenge!! If this was the real apocalypse, then many people couldnt gut an animal, many would struggle, matches would run out... So many options, so many choices, so much potential. My point exactly. I can get all the stuff i feel i need, then what do i do? I sit there by prud pond, water bottle, tent full of guns and ammo....and do nothing. If i had to WORK for my survival, then it would make the game more interesting. Imagine the scene - You have no food, you HAVE to get into a town. The nearest one is a bandit held town. Not going means sure death, going means that you stand a high chance. Do you risk it, or die? Do you get a raiding party, or do you try sneak in alone? Do you tool yourself up to the teeth, in the hope a crafty sniper doesnt get you, or do you take the minimal amount possible? Do you try befriend somebody in the town, disguise yourself as one of them? Do you keep your head down and try get to a pub? Or do you risk a long walk to a barn, where you hope you might find a tin of beans? Or do you go back to your pond, kill a sheep and eat cooked meat while doing bugger all.
  7. I have been following the game and forums for a while now, and have noticed something... People say that they want some form of endgame, some say they don't. Without an end, technically there is no point to this game. Hear me out before the trolling starts though... By raiding an town, you can grab some matches, a hunting knife, a larger backpack and a hatchet, a finally a water bottle and a few cans of food. Now the point of the game is survival right? So, what happens next? You go into the woods. You find a pond. You fill up your water bottle. You find an animal. You hatchet it to death, you cut up its corpse, go back to your pond in the woodline. You start a fire, you eat, you drink, and thats it. Endgame. You dont need the loot, and you dont need much more than that. Seems like a bit of a pointless game now eh? So there is something that i think would be a grand idea to add a bit of diversity to the game. A way to implement the communities, the camps, coalitions into the game. A way to make survival a bit more interesting. Force people to have to hit the towns. Remove the hunting knives, but keep the mechanics behind cooking. Say for example that you can have a hot meal and it replends 800 blood, but that to get your food you have to get it from somewhere dangerous. You add another level of survival to the game. You can hit a barn and find cans of food yes, but then people still have the option to stay away from large towns. If you really want to get something worthwhile though, you have to go into the town. This means that survival groups who set up shop in towns and can start coalitions or camps can do markets, have people doing guard shifts etc, but at the same time it means that the bandits need to raid towns. It adds a whole new dimension of PvP to the game. Now, obviously certain parts such as zombie spawns etc will have to be tweeked to enable this, and there are many people who might not agree with this, but i really do think this could add a new dimension to the game. I know a lot of people have started to get fed up with this mod, and are waiting for the stand alone. At the minute im enjoying trying to help out people and killing bandits on sight, Thing is, once youve had all the guns, and can live in the wild, there isnt much to the game. Saying that, i still come back to it day after day because i like trying to find the stuff ive not had yet (which is still a hell of a lot of stuff!) Ive lived in the wild, had tents, had vehicles, but still not had half the weapons in the game, never killed more than 50 Z's in a single life, and love cutting about the large towns avoiding bad guys and snipers while trying to find beans and coke. Would be interested in hearing peoples view on this. I know its hard to implement, but what other ideas would people want in the standalone?

    Advice for the NW Airfield?

Ive found a nice variety of weapons up there, from a PDW, M4A3 CCO, M16, AKM, 5.56mm ammo crate, G17... All sorts. Just depends on the loot drop!
  9. My friend and I thank you very much for the loot! A short tale first though: After having a very interesting day of trying to save peoples lives in Cherno and Electro, and finally getting the Hero skin, i was quite looking forward to trying to engage with more players. I started the day on US 20something, and having been carrying quite a lot of medical supplies was getting frustrated when i was killed by a hacker. Spawning at Balota, i took the journey across the airfield. I met an outstanding chap by the name of Brad Buckingham (or similar), who despite the chance didn't kill me. Even after i found an assault rifle, i still didnt want to hurt him, giving him my only (empty) water bottle and even pointing out that a shotgun had spawned. I bade him farewell, along with his friend, and made my way down the coast. A few more deaths through hackers saw we switch servers to DK10. At first things were average. Spawning all over the island, trying to meet up with my friend. I ended up in the church at Cherno, meeting a nice bloke by the name Tomo. Again, he didnt shoot me, i gave him some blood via drip, and things were dandy. I nip out to the hospital to restock the medical pack, and upon returning to the church find a dirty bandit brandishing a crowbar. He ran towards me, so in self defence i let him have a mag of makarov ammo. He may of been full of good intentions, but I doubt it! Sorry you might of been a new spawn, but dont run at a medic who has a simple pistol brandishing a crowbar towards my head!! A very short while later, over direct chat, weird music begins to play, and then the church blows up... When i go outside, i meet a ghillie sniper firing a VERY fast firing AS50, who in an obvious attempt to blow us up and failing decides to camp the entrance to shoot me. Death by hacker again I guess... Skip forward a few hours. I have made my way back to Cherno, and carrying a battered Lee Enfield. Coyote patrol pack is stacked with blood, my friend has just been killed by a bandit at the fire station. He manages to miss me (found a nice ghillie at the clock tower 15 minutes prior) and whilst i am a half second from hitting him with the Enfield in the head, he vanishes behind a wall and is gone. I try stalk him for revenge, but no luck. A quick sweep through a few buildings yield nothing of use, so off into the hills i head to await my friend. I get a call on the 'radio' (Ventrilo) to say whilst he has been scouting Balota, he has found a DMR. First time either of us have found any form of sniper apart from the CZ550, so we are both quite excited! (Over a month of play and this is the first sniper we find...) He nips up to me on the hill, drops off the G17 and DMR he has found, and pops off into town with a M1911 to see if he can scavenge some DMR mags. Whilst cutting about the town, my friend hits his radio button and gives me some good news. He has found two players cutting about in the town, and has dropped one of them. The second guy has chased him to the church. Out goes a smoke grenade from my mucker, obscuring the vision of the would be attacker. The man trying so hard to kill my friend reaches in his pocket, and pulls out a grenade... Only problem is, its an RGO grenade, found at heli crash sites. One massive explosion later, and my friend peers around the door of the church, to find one very very dead potential bandit! The DMR mag has been forgotten about by this point, as a quick check of the body reveals a nice little stash of loot. An Alice pack, an M16 ACOG, 9 Stanag (2 which are SD), cooked meat, an M9 with a few mags, more blood, food, water, another RGO grenade, essential hunting kit... JACKPOT!! Another gun I've yet to use, the M16 ACOG! Old backpack ditched, my mucker says he will go scout out a DMR mag. SOD THAT! GET HERE NOW!!! Back to the hills he comes, and we do a slight exchange of kit. I grab the M16, the Alice pack, all the gear. Taking cover in the long grass, mucker heads off back into the city to get his DMR mag. Finds one, heads back to hills... The rest is history. Currently enjoying my M16 ACOG and hunting more bandits. If you see us, and wear a shermag, dont come near! If you are a survivor or hero, and need any medical help, come find me. But be aware there will be a DMR and an M16 ACOG trained on you by the two guys i cut about with, and all you will find on me is blood and bandages! The Medic - Me Short Life Expectancy - Mucker DayWalker - Absent Mucker from this story... Cheers all!
