Since beta patch removed global/side chat and only direct is possible option, we definitely need another types of chat with different radius. At least "Shout" would be great to talk with others at safe distance. Direct range is too short to ask if player if he is friendly or not, you probably end up killed before you finnish the sentence. Also some kind of radios, transmitters, walkie-talkies would be nice addition into item colection. These devices could be used for communication at longer distance (maybe across whole map or only for cuple miles depending on device used). Having these device equipped would allow using/seeing others types of chat channel.

Only with one condition: If the player was shot to death by other player, there should be blood stains on that clothing. This would partially prevented killing just for clothing.

Or what about removing completly murders/bandit kills counts from debug monitor? MLCA points out the first reason well. The other reasons are: - it only supports more killing (hunting for higher score) and it doesn't have any other meaning (prove me otherwise). This game isn't about who killed more players. - if you kill player you shouldn't be able to distinguish between murder or bandit kill just by looking to your stats. Killing "human being" should raise questions like "who was he? was he bad or good?" Btw, I know debug monitor is probably there because of alpha, but is really that necessary?

For self healing we already have food (beans and cooked meat) and it works easier than what you suggest with blood transfussion..

For better realism (You can't shout to the entire world in real world too) side chat and global chat are no longer available in some servers. And most likely side/global chat in the future wouldn't be available at all..

[Report] Spawned in Wilderness/Debug Forest/Endless Ocean
glamb replied to stephen.p.farrer@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
@sirkev4: If you don't care about your stuff so just hit respawn in game menu. But if you spawned in debug forest (there are trees around you) you only need run east and after cuple of minutes you will find civilization. @those who spawned in ocean: If you care about your character (not stuff) swim towards land and then go along the coast to the east (right while having ocean behind your back). While swimming you lose most of your stuff (weapons, ammo, supplies). Things like map, compas, watch, hatchet will stay in your inventory. If you are lucky your backpack with all of its contents will stay to (I can confirm that from my own experience). @those who spawned in the middle of nowhere: Sorry but there is not much you can do. I'm not sure where exactly this area is. If someone with GPS spawned there, please post there your exact position. I tried running SE but after hour I was still in wilderness. You can try experimenting with client versions (dayz 1.6.0.1 vs 1.7.0 and ArmA with/without beta patch) and joining different servers or switching your clothing to trigger this bug once again. On servers with old versions you should spawn in debug forest and from there is a easy way back to Chernarus by going east. I know there was a thread where admin was helping people who spawned outside Chernarus by manually reseting their position back to coast. But I'm affraid there is too many people with this issue so it can't be handled anymore. But hey, you can always wait for new dayz version which is usually followed by position reset for everyone :P tl;dr: - If you don't care about your stuff -> respawn - spawned in debug forest -> go east (5min) - spawned in ocean -> swim north, then go east - spawned in wilderness -> you're most likely screwed -> respawn or 1,5 hours of running towards SE -
When you reconnect your stats will be restored (humanity as really happy face). But there is a chance you will spawn in the middle of nowhere, ocean or debug forest depending on server, client versions and pure luck.

Yeah, definitely one of the best DayZ video series I have seen. PS: little bit OT, but I recommend you to check others CHKilroy's videos from ArmA, e.g , or

How to preserve my character before I reinstall ARMA
glamb replied to Goose Springsteen's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I have the same question. What happens with my character when I reinstall arma? Also, is there anyway how to transfer my character to another computer with arma on it but with different serial keys used? I suppose my character is tied to my Battleye GUID, but I dont know how is this GUID generated. It's based on my arma serial key? So when I reinstall arma I will still be able to login with my character but I wouldn't be able to transfer my character to another arma with different serial key? Thanks for any response.
