The issue was corrupted equipment in my inventory from having such a old character. I dropped all my old equipment and it resolved the issue.

I have this issue where the dayz application randomly starts downloading files and lags my game. It skyrockets my ping and I cannot use anything in my inventory at this time. My direct chat works fine however and is not laggy. On other people's screens my character moves perfectly normal, but on my screen all characters and zombies are stuck in place. My character has not died since the last character wipe. Does anyone else have this issue?

You also need to make sure your wounds are clean and healed. You can do this by applying rubbing alcohol to them. Besides that, great tutorial. Short and to the point.

*Side Note* It is possible to recover blood by eating and drinking to the point of being completely full. If you eat a lot after the bars have disappeared you will eventually become "healthy" and in your inventory it will say HEALING, then when your blood is at full it will say HEALTHY. I assume that you must not be sick to be considered healthy and heal.

I like the part where you're in 1st person for the entire video
Yeah... Its still a useful tip in 1st person as well. Sometimes it's hard to see the compass when it's badly damaged even while in first person.

I think people just get bogged up because of their thirst and hunger meter. I'm guessing they think that they wouldn't make it up north and they have a better chance just staying put at the coast and trying to find the essentials, and afterwards getting some altitude. At least that was my attitude.
That's probably going to change from here on in, though.
That's going to be bad news for me, I like my peaceful North.

I always go as far north as possible, luckily I find myself getting Novy spawns often

I've had a lot of new experiences playing DayZ standalone, but being robbed of my blood? Not exactly how I expected to die my first time playing.

You've gota go to Green Mountain and drink it there. That way you honor the can and don't die xD
Maybe you have to sacrifice a can of Mountain Dew there to relieve the curse from drinking a mountain dew elsewhere.
