Agreed. We need the bad guys so the game is still tension-filled and so encounters actually make you feel something. On the other hand, a mix of KoS players and friendly (e. g. "carebear") players is IMO the best, so that you would need to assess the situation and check whether someone is friendly or not upon encountering them.
-
That happens because there was a time when the game was marginally perfect. Lots of players will relate. I think it doesn't have to do with the game at all actually, it's just our noob state of mind at the time (e. g. being frightened by the church bell, shots in the distance, lights in the dark and shitting ourselves everytime there was a slight chance of death).
-
This is just plain ridiculous IMO. What about the things that happen during a trip in DayZ? I've never walked a distance farther than 1km without anything interesting happening in between.
-
You're probably right. Although discussions are just plain fun and do no harm to anybody (unless they're about Call of Duty, in which case I prefer to just ignore them). It's real awesome that because this is a mod the community can actively shape how the final game will be. I'm really excited for SA.

I agree. Killing fresh spawns with snipers or by any other means, instead of helping them, or at least leaving them be, is just pure cowardly assholery (I've just invented a new word!). An yes, people that are playing this game just for kills should just go play a FPS game; There are lots of them and there's waaay more action. Unless you find it amusing or fun to destroy people's progress in this game for no reason this is really NOT for you. I knew you were going to pop up at this thread sooner or later :) I LOL'ed at the GIF xD I don't agree that the fun in this game is in killing; Player interaction is just a lot more fun to me, although a firefight from time to time in this game is just pure awesomeness!

Thanks man! BTW have you ever heard of DayZ+? It's an alternative DayZ gametype that I've played for a bit and I found that it has a lot of focus on zombies. You should try it out. Do you have any experience with modding on ArmA II? You could even make your own gametype based on any of the DayZ open-source mods (most are). I'm trying modding out myself with some people I met on this forum. If you know even the tiniest bit about modding, you can help us!

LOL. You're welcome. I was commenting on the way you wrote your last post. It almost seemed as if you were recruiting people to a new religion, or cult, or whatever.

In my opinion it was never about the loot balance; It's just about the tension that makes this game golden. What have your experiences with other players been like? Maybe you just didn't have a a whole lot of luck. Now, about your consideration that this is more of a player vs player or squad vs squad game than a player vs zombies or squad vs zombies game, I think you're very right; It's a military simulator where you can betray your friends; It's a zombie apocalypse game where the real enemies are other players; It's a lot of things, but not really a zombie survival game. It's more of just... umm... a "survival" game with zombies added in the mix. I personally like it a lot, and so does the community, so I find it unlikely that the SA will be more zombie-focused. However, ArmA being such an easily modded game, you can always create your own mod for the SA and a lot of people with the same playstyle as you would join in to play.

What the fuck!? Too much internet today.

Yours was probably the best reply to a otherwise boring thread I've ever seen. Take my Baked Beans!

The bridge to skalisty island, is it bugged?
QuantumDrop replied to con635's topic in New Player Discussion
The general rule to DayZ is that everything is bugged. -
Why Are There No Normal Public Servers?
QuantumDrop replied to LiftCore's topic in New Player Discussion
I relate to OP's opinion that the original game is golden and that private hives are not as fun as a standard game. Unfortunately it's pretty much just the two of us xD -
The thing about KoS in this game is the tension. You kill people because you think THEY might kill you if they see you. In my opinion it's not really dependant on player mentality. In this game, if you regularly visit places in which there are going to be players, especially if a lot of them, to survive and keep your gear, you either kill on sight or are really cautious about who you befriend. That being said, I don't think it's really that hard to find players who want to cooperate. However, the more hardcore ones won't take chances. I personally, always take chances because I think the interactions and tension between players is the core in this game. I don't want it all reduced to a deathmatch. Thoughts?

Third person vs First person view
QuantumDrop replied to Rising (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You are quite right about stagnation. I just think this isn't a discussion worth having. My thoughts are that we should change the whole game because a minority thinks it should be changed, which is something you conveniently ignored in your reply. And I don't really think TP gives anyone an edge, if everybody can use it. Unless you're a tryhard, which everybody here seems to be. There are plenty of 3DP servers and you can all go there. About the FP being buggy and laggy, I'm not talking about performance, it's just design. It's bad in so many ways. If it was improved, maybe I'd use it for things other than shooting. You missed the point there saying I had to adjust my configs. -
I'm sure Rocket said in a Reddit Q&A this will be in the SA. http://www.dayzwiki.com/wiki/DayZ_Standalone/RedditAMA
-
Wuuut.... Well, yes, agreed. Nice metaphor.
-
Agreed. You have my beans. I say keep things as they are, but limit the number of matches in each box.

It hasn't been plucked out of thin air; They said that if they didn't release the game till December this year, which isn't gonna happen, it would be Early 2013. So for me, the period any company can call "early" ends at April, so I approximated the date to the longest deadline.
-
Whooooa.... Let me guess. You're an american right? So many guns...
-
BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!! Now seriously. I think this would be impossible on ARMA II. Maybe on the SA...

Can't find any official servers...
QuantumDrop replied to subzero22's topic in New Player Discussion
The hive is down. Apparently some problems with the hosts. Ignore all the guys saying the standalone is being released. It's a long running joke around here. -
Well, I think the standalone will be kind of different in feel. So if you want the original DayZ experience go for CO. And if you're desperate too. Release will probably be only April 2013 or later. Besides development of the mod will continue alongside the standalone game.

Stop the stupid flooding. Don't be a jerk.

What is the point in hosting your own server?
QuantumDrop replied to Xentious's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
You have In my opinion you have a fun time playing the game how it should be played, not adding fucking 500 vehicles or a ton of loot. It takes all the fun out. That's why I don't get the point behind private hives. Helping players is actually taking away from them the fun of finding shit themselves.
