How about some legitimate DayZ jump scares?

thought about the stalkers in dead space 2 those scared the shit out of me the first time i saw them because if you look to the left they come closer on the right and the other way. some scary stalker area liek a dark forest would be fuckin great -
How deep can players change the gameplay? (maybe an endgame question isnt it...) We know about the bounty hunting. what about taking over special buildings/places (hospital or fuel station)(hoist a flag, barricade) or gernerally change stuff above ground (traps/camps/...)

would love the idea because consoles offer fairer conditions to the players. everyone with the same hardware and its almost hack free. alsmost because there may be some bug abuses

Right. So you have to put player features in: - bounty hunting have already been announced - robbing player camps - take over (hoist up a flag/build barricades) a city or important spots, maybe a garden or farm area for food, or a fuel station, or places where you can craft special things ONLY there. like special medical supply at the hospital. so players try to take over that place to craft on this spot, or a mine where you get special stuff for explosives - build barricades and traps for protection that area you have to put something in that other players want to get so they fight for it.

some owl and woodpecker would be nice. raven are cool too, not only as signal on specific "watch tower" spots but as in jagged alliance 2 eating the corpses. generally some carrion eating animals would be cool tho

i have no idea if something like a shopping mall should be an instance. it should be tried out i guess. but you own underground base should be indeed a instance rocket said something about new map parts you could enter through the underground so it might be like Chernarus--> underground --> map2/map3/map4 you could probably "craft" or rebuild an underground entrence somewhere on the maps. in the fact that the base is an instance that should not be a problem. for example you dig have a hole with a ladder (craft) or more realistic you have a sewer you can climb down (rebuild or always available entrence) camera is fixed so you see how your charakter disappears underground then he get teleported into your personal underground base/hideout instance. maybe this is a very small corner of the canalisation in the beginning, where you just can store some cans and a gun and take a rest. and you can upgrade the space and so on. examples for underground exit/entry: sewer holes in citys (ninja turtle style) huge waste water pipes at the coast cellar of a building craft examples:: digging a hole (takes long) + ladder or rope or blast a hole (loud but quick) + ladder or rope repair/climb down a water well I dont know how it fits into the game, having a personal instance that cant be robbed or something. but for that we got the beta i guess :) -

a flare gun would be nice. read about this some days ago and its quite a cool idea. if you want to find someone he could shoot a flare into the sky risky of course because it could be seen from everyone. but thats a cool thing -
its just not possible with the dayz mod. you have to wait for the standalone to get "better" zombies. rocket explained the problem in an interview at the GC2012. he said the dayz mod is actually a hack with a hack overlay on arma2. and the zombies are actually the soldier KI which are not made for melee combat. so thats why they run zig zag towards you. in the standalone the whole game will have its own source code so there technical almost everything you imagine could be done.

the idea with the ID is pretty cool tho. same as the diary. should not be a problem to put those things in and both are really nice. i also hope that the weapons a player is using (primary/secondary) is actually mounted on the body like pistol near the hip and rifle on the back or something. so even no weapon is in the hand you know the guy is well armed. edit: the guy one post before me with the dynamic audio : +1 -

would be an awesome feature. especially for the ALT+F4 people ;) i think the combination exit delay + no sleeping would definitly lower the Alt F4 crap. maybe when youre bleeding you still lose blood to a minimum amount till the next login. if youre active playing and have to rest there could be dreams or a fear level of the character like hearing all kind of noises. or you have a nightmare mini game sometimes. but thats a bit far fetched i guess and would probably fit more into a singleplayer game ^^ anyways very good suggestion from you -

endless possibilities i really liked the announcement for more area buildings like the hospital (which could be really horror, too remember the silent hill hospital^^) i hope there will me a mall and a prison, too. -
if there ever will be currency, then there should NOT be any npc or shop that gives you a default value of the currency. so the players will choose theirself about the economy.

there should be some instances with huge buildings or catacombs and something. maybe some blind zombies with better ears so you have to walk slowly through a dark building making no noise that would be really horror style. you all remember "i am legend" the newer movie with smith. so you know when he got into a huge building looking for his dog. putting the flashlight on and off. something like that, i mean its daytime but the buildings are all overgrown with plants so you barly see anything in there. Other option is the classic resident evil villa by night style.. but i like the first more because its new school with a touch oldskool flair @topic suggestion. the classic graveyard thing is a way too oldschool imo. but sure why not^^ anyways rocket said something about new maps you can reach through the underground. so we will possibly see a more horror world
