So, looking for a good US server with a good community I can join in on, one with or without 3p, but mostly without crosshairs or side-chat and that has good admins and or automated restarts, vehicles, etc etc. I would hop onto any server that has that on the list but I don't want to join in some random server/community that ends up shutting down their server after a while because they want to go do other missions, basically a DayZ only community with their own servers. Anybody got any good servers they could recommend to me? Screw google, I want to know what people know or have.

Server: US 286, could not get host name but it started with La Time of incident: July 21st, 12:33 PM GMT +8 Incident: As I was looking for a server to join that met my ping demands, limits, players and such, I stumbled upon one server which I was kicked off of twice as I was loading or before I was about to even press OK and load into the game without reason. After my secondary kicked, the server was then locked and remained locked for the next 20 minutes that I checked before I exited the game. Thus I have reason to believe the admins of the server may be using their powers to their advantage to gain an upperhand among others on this server as well as others.     Add in Humvees (unarmed ones)

    Before you guys start talking about Tanks and APCs, perhaps you guys should think about how it would affect gameplay first? Just suggesting something because you think it's cool is dumb. No offense. Any heavily armed and armored vehicle would just be bad. An unarmed humvee would be fine, but since this is a post-soviet state area, perhaps some Military UAZs or Military Trucks with some russian ammunition and things in them and such would be good.

    Safe Zone Idea

    No. We're being provided with toolboxes, E-tools, sandbags, barbed wire, bear traps and tank traps. Why not make it ourselves instead of having to use of the little precious time and code to create this things? Making it ourselves would add more immersion and a better feeling to it, people could manage it and protect it themselves, perhaps establish a government even. I'm attempting to do this myself, so far I've already road blocked a lot of areas in Chernogorsk and created ways were people can be lead towards where I can observe, protect and help them, this has proven to be effective for me and I've helped a lot of players already as well as started to encourage trade. Why don't we all start doing the same?

    What do you do when you got gear?

    This is the suggestions section for DayZ, not for topics or discussions like these. Anyways, right now what I would do when I get good gear is help out the newfags at chernogorsk by killing bandits and covering them from zeds, collect more gear and give away weapons in exchange for certain things I could use, basically encouraging trade. Doing this since killing random helpless people has gotten boring, nothing better than killing bandits and giving away their gear to the needy. lol.

    Identifying a bandit

    No. Even if you did add wrinkles or any minor physical details, you wouldn't really notice until the final moment where he would shoot your face. There is no need to do this really, it'll lead back to the same problems that were present when people morphed into bandit skins automatically for losing humanity. Why? Because people will just start shooting at those wearing bandit skins like they always did during the early alpha, even though that most of the time, people who did have bandit skins at the time killed and got that in self-defense and had no actual reason to get the skin besides self-defense. Besides, in an actual situation, I doubt that you would be able to define a murderer from an innocent person unless you'd actually witnessed what the person had done or hear of it through other people. Just another thread asking to nerf something that isn't really an issue.

    Community Minigames

    No. Waste of time and resources when there are better things that can be worked on, the point of the mod is survival, not stay at camp playing Mario or tetris inside the DayZ world inside ArmA 2. This idea somewhat reminds me of those little boring little mini-games that GTA 4 had inside bars.

    Removal of all gear.

    I support the idea to some degree. But perhaps now is not a good time for it, it's still in its Alpha so we're basically pretty much still testing what rocket makes of the mod and if we do stat resets now, it could also have some damaging effects towards players and gameplay. Maybe it would be better for a complete info wipe once DayZ goes into its beta stages?
  13. No, we don't players getting unrealistic advantages such as "perks" like additional health or better damage towards different entities over others. It's a zombie apocalypse survival mod that we "the players" would like to keep as realistic as possible in a way that maintains balanced gameplay. No offence. Although I like the idea you have about crafting weapons, perhaps it can be suggested in as a different mechanic like something a player must learn himself and work upon while using certain tools in each single life, but I don't know, could be complicated.

    dayz non-pvp servers?

    No, because if that would happen, we'd have the babies and easy looters on one side while the hunters are all on one server. There'd be no thrill and would as mentioned by some, would ruin the mod.

    Show who you where killed by.

    I disagree, perhaps a there should be a server log where admins can see who killed who instead? Like it would say in-game "player x was killed" but then it's logged on the server with an actual name, time and other information (information such as weapon or vehicle used and such?) I mean, hacker problems aside, this could also have its own effects on gameplay.

    Currency System

    There really is no point, there is nothing in-game that would convince players to use currency when trade is perfectly fine and just as easy. Think about it this way, in real life we need money, because the government makes us use money to represent the value of many different things. Money in turn to pay for things people work hard on to make for you, but in DayZ, everyone is basically scavenging for what they can find, there is no government or higher authority to represent anything like a government unless the players decide to make one and roleplay it themselves. Perhaps if players could do that, then maybe currency would be useful, but right now there is nothing that would convince players to circulate a type of currency as they can just as easily acquire what they want by looking for it. Loot in the game is free and nobody needs any kind of special skills to create anything, people do not have control over how loot is available, therefore there is no need to kind of "sell" or "buy" items as currency is not needed.

    2x4s with nails wouldn't make for such a bad weapon imo, hell maybe even a baseball bat with nails to it too. lol. But anyways, no, starting items are fine as they are, just gotta replace that Small coyote with a Czech Vest Pouch and it'd be much more interesting.

    Well it's not like that, but anyway I think if rocket were to work on things like this himself it would be better off at a later stage of the mod when the more important things have been done. If the community wanted to help they should go right ahead and talk to rocket, because I don't think rocket would come to them asking for anything. :P I understand what you mean.

    Eliminate the Bandit/PK'r Advantage

    Players could just as easily change their names, this will just lead to confusion and probably a lot of wrong killings, there are many duplicate names in DayZ which is why I said so. If the anybody in the community can post about people who murdered them, then even the bandits themselves could make false reports about whoever and falsely tag them as hostile towards other players in their own devious little schemes. Also, all this time I've played DayZ I've not once seen the name of the person who killed me, except for a couple of times where it said friendly fire for some reason. So I don't really think it will work.

    Give yourself blood!

    What Dronax said works just fine too, you're basically suggesting because you want an easier way around your own avoidable problems. Needing another player to transfuse blood into your body encourages teamplay. If people were able to transfuse themselves, then people would basically treat bloodpacks as if they were bandages. Free Blood Refills for everyone, we'd all be running around with a stockpile of it knowing that we'd be able to heal ourselves without the need of help from other people or other methods (eating) to regenerate health and restore full capabilities. Also, If you're looking for a team mate, find a good server you'd like to play on, join their voice chat server (teamspeak, mumble etc) and find a buddy or a group, you're more likely to receive help and less likely to get shot that way.

    Currency System

    It's a cool idea, but I don't think it would be ideal for DayZ's setting, it's a zombie apocalypse survival mod, I highly doubt there'd be any type of currency a bunch of random un-knowing individuals would use and would know to use in the setting even in a real life scenario. The players are what influence and help expand the thoughts and imaginations of players in the mod, if you start doing trades and do it right, you could influence some people to do it as well till it eventually spreads around. We don't NPCs to sell items, if we did have NPCs, like you said it would make things easier, and easy is kind of not what rocket and a lot of players want the gameplay to be like.

    I see, Interesting, but doing all that would make the files of DayZ mod much larger with all those things on the map that need re-texturing. If rocket were to do this, it would definitely take a very long time unless someone or a team of talented people were able to make realistically detailed textures, then that could be a whole new story.

    No. Also, people complain so much about scoped weapons so much, I don't see what the problem is really. Just quit walking out in the open so you don't get your head blown off so often. You can just as easily avoid sniping bandits if you pay attention and think like them too, the usual high view points and tall places and things.

    Solution to server hoppers/loot farmers

    I don't think the teleportation would be such a good idea, because that right there could be exploited by players far worse than they do with server hopping right now, they could take just as easily take advantage of this. It would basically be a new free way out of unwanted situation, knowing that when they log out/ hop or whatever in that area, they get teleported out and are immediately safe from any more trouble once they hop/re-log. AFAIK, rocket already has a mechanic in place where if the player logs out, his body stays for 5 seconds before disappearing and force saving itself. Just that it isn't working at the moment. I'm not sure, but I know I heard this from somewhere. Also, which part in this says about how or what helps against loot farming?
