    Cover at long range

I generally find brick walls the be the best physical cover, while breaking a shooters LOS on you is best due to him being unwilling to waste ammo on something he can't see. The only real rule I follow with engagements is to run if you take shots first. At long range I try and work out the shooters position and then run in a really awkward way (perpendicular diagonal) and then get out of his sight. Then I'll run until he starts to chase, then set up and nail him. People are often way too impatient.

    Ultimate Loot

The ultimate loot in the game are pink chemlights, I've only ever looted them once. You feel bad, Michael Jackson bad, when you take a mans life bathed in the glow of Hello Kitty colours.

I don't go to Chern or Elektro.

Good sir is contrived manners. It's fake and lame and not genuine. It's used to congratulate or affirm, but it demonstrates that you couldn't come up with anything of your own to say, or even a "thanks" or "good job" and instead have to be derivative. I'm sure good sir was funny one of the first times it was used in repartee, but hearing it for the fifth time in a row from a different person each time makes me feel like I'm playing Fable and instead of NPCs spouting the same irritating line, it's morons saying good sir. It's like nobody has a personality. I'm playing a wonderfully immersive multiplayer online experience and the other characters in the world only speak in meaningless, derivative platitudes that exude fake niceness. I'm not on reddit, I'm not on 4chan, I'm in a zombie apocalypse. I will kill myself immediately if all that's left at the end of the world are the lost unoriginal people in existence. And that's why I hate good sir. You're rude and cheeky but I don't mind, because that's who you are and you need to keep both hands on the guitar, plucking those strings for rude and cheeky boys everywhere, because if you don't, nobody will.

If you use memes in side chat, or the word "trolling", or the words "good sir" in conjunction, or the words and variants of "derp", I will go out of my way to kill you. The only thing worse than a zombie apocalypse is having to survive with tedious people.

    Bandit/Survivor Morphing to be removed

This is gangster rocket. Can we get some summer and wedding dresses going on so I can show the world how beautiful I am? I'm not joking either. The cannibal cult thing would really go nicely with our friday afternoon role playing. I would also maybe like some lotion. I also think its scarier having Buffalo Bill and his family hunting you than some gimp dressed as action man.

    What was your dumbest death?

I was prone and crawled up onto one of those low drystone brick walls. Then I crawled off it (it's about a foot high, maybe less) and my character responded as though he had just taken a 50 calibre round to the torso. Another good one was assigning TS PTT button as F. Then I threw a grenade in a deer stand when trying to shoot a zombie in the field.

    Talent Tree

Essentially, this idea is to give long term rewards to long term players of the game. A skill system or talent system has been talked about at length, and I wanted to throw out an idea that I've been playing out. Basically, talents would work to increase the players experience passively and in a way that is not obtrusively unfair. They would basically reflect on a players skill by smoothing his experience in a variety of ways and making his life in Chernarus more comfortable. The talents would also be incredibly numerous and each point would grant a very small increment. It's important that it doesn't feel like a CoD progression, but more of a long term experience. For instance: Passives: Cooking: Grants 5% (10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50) increase to blood gained from consuming cooked meat. Butchery: Grants a 5% (10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50) increase chance to receive an extra two portions of meat from a carcass. Cool Headed: Grants a 5% (10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50) speed increase to the settling of a weapon after movement. Skills: Covered Fire: When fifteen points have been placed in Covered Fire, a player is able to build a covered fire that is less visible at night time. Quenched Thirst: When fifteen points have been placed in Quenched Thirst, a player is able to satisfy his thirst twice before a Water Bottle is emptied. It's important to note that points would be earned slowly - perhaps reward a point for every two consecutive hours of survival after the fourth hour of consecutive survival (the average life span). This would really reward play styles in the spirit of the game and really raise the tension on survivors. It might even ease off the killing spree on the coast and cities. It's important to note that you don't gain points for player killing, you gain them for survival actions. Similarly, not a single skill is inherently PvP advantaged. In fact, I'd prefer no skills to actively increase PvP viability. This is a survival game, you shouldn't ever have to not do something, but you might be able to do it less, or provide better for your friends. Also, I hate the WoWness of this idea, but I think that this is the one game where small increase in ability would be incredibly valuable, but not make the players life too easy. For instance, a player should really gain only one point for every four hours of play. At the same time, consecutive survival should also be rewarded, but I'm not sure how that would be worked just yet. Anyway, I'll probably read this again in the morning and revise it.

    Anyone else found their own...

Little area south of Olsha is quite nice. It's easy to work between Krasnostav and Berezino.

If you have no hostile players in the game, and you want to loot and sneak, I suggest you buy Crawling Past Zombies for Six Hours Simulator 5 off Steam, as it's currently on sale at the moment. I think it might be bundled with Toddlers Crawling Past Parents Simulator 8, which would be a pretty good deal actually.

    The Bad Idea Thread.

  14. It's not as polarised as "kill or be killed". 95% of my time in game is walking around looking for a crash site. The observation I'm making is that sure, transfuse people in Chern church, but don't then criticise people for killing you while doing it. By transfusing people in Chern church he's making the assumption (by the fact that he's complaining about the latter here) that Chern is safe enough to perform surgery on people. Chern is not safe. It's one of the three or four most dangerous places in the game. He's gone to perhaps the most dangerous location in the game and attempted to neuter it entirely by thinking that the power of his goodwill overrides the tension and violence that already exist in the game, preformed on players previous experiences. In fact, I think that had he offered transfusions in Olsha or Myshkino, he'd have been relatively safe doing it. They are out of the way, logical places to offer transfusions. It would have shown that he cared about his personal safety and was humble in the face of the dangerous nature of the game. By offering transfusions in that hell hole warzone, it came across like he was trying to knock the nuts off the game. As though he was walking into a supermax prison yard, walking between the White Supremacists and the Latin Kings mid fight and offering everyone a Mars Bar, then criticising them when he gets beaten up. It's an interesting thing, but I've given and received far more safe and successful operations in the north than in the south. In fact, I've never really heard of a successful operation being performed over global chat in Chern or Elektro, or at an Airfield.

I imagine the scatter pattern would be quite tight. Chern west and east hospitals for eyes, town hall for a nose and the docks for a mouth. He's smiling at us.

I would really like a full list of the places the OP died and by what method. I would then like to plot those places on the Chernarus map.
  17. A pretty simple answer is that we live our everyday lives in a world ruled by unspoken and spoken social rules. Most video games these days also impose these rules on us ("you are the healer", "do not leave the map", "you cannot kill this person", "you cannot tell the story"). What you then have is a game world, a place where the primary attraction is the power of the imagination, and then strictures are put on it just like in real life. For the most part you're forced to play nice. Now, what you think you're presenting is benevolent, but by simply thinking that you're safe in Chern church you're in some way limiting our world again. You're saying "this place is safe - this place is ordered." You think you're being nice, but you're turning Chern into Ironforge. That guy with the Makarov is shunning human decency. He's pulling his whip and screaming fuck the police as he paints your brains across the altar. That feels really good.

    bounty hunters

MR DELIGHTFUL likes to do this for free. He's also really good at it. The only real problem is that there are only so many ways one can ask "where are you?" in side chat without the person becoming suspicious. Also, the collateral is quite high, in that he pretty much will kill anyone he sees until he gets your man. He operates on the Aus and west coast, mid west USA servers. I'd also warn that he likes to kill high ping players on the Australian servers in order to keep the speed fast (he's also a bit xenophobic but would hate to think so).

    Those looking for heavy immersion

I usually just eat beans and drink coke while playing on a treadmill for a deeper sense of immersion. The thing is my experience is even more immersive because you actually vomit after eating a tin of Stagg chilli after five hours of mixed running. My homo bromo MR DELIGHTFUL has this though, he lectures us constantly on the merits of trackir. The only problem is that when his girlfriend tries to talk to him he looks like he has a spinal injury.

    Incentives

The mod needs to have a few long term goals put into it in a meta sense. Talent points and a very subtle talent tree would be the way to do it I think. Some players would have a very slight advantage over other players to represent the fact that not all survivors begin equal. For instance, specialising in "combat ready" would mean your gun settled 15, 20, 25% faster after running. Stuff like that - not game breaking for those who don't have it, but something to represent the achievement of having survived so long on a natural scale. Another one might be "butcher", which gives 5,10,15,20,25,30,35,40,45,50% more blood back from cooked meat the more you upgrade it. I don't want obtrusive shit like "always spawns with NVGs, but just small adjustments that make your survival more efficient. Also, this stuff would be earned in a few ways. Killing 500 zombies would get you a point. Staying alive for three hours would get you a point. Slaughtering fifteen animals would get you a point, lighting fifty fires etc. Stuff that is too boring or dangerous to repeatedly and intentionally spam or farm, but would occasionally pop up to let you know you're now more skillful. I wouldn't reward points for killing players though, or any player interactions as this could be abused.

Yeah, it'd be interesting if the bedroll was an item that you could carry around. However I think that considering Ash Ketchum the survivor already has half an operating theatres worth of equipment he may as well also have a bed roll.
  23. MR DELICIOUS

    Humanity should reset on death...

I wouldn't want to full humanity revival, but enough to return me to a survivor had I killed one person my previous life. You shouldn't have your frown turned upside down too quickly, but a little boost each death could be nice. Otherwise, just kill zombies (which shouldn't be too hard to do considering there are millions now) and keep to yourself while you work off your proper badboy debt.
  24. MR DELICIOUS

    Deer Stands

I always interpreted it as soldiers had decided to fortify hunting deer stands against the zombies, we're overrun and now are their zombie protectors. I'd prefer it if instead of it being 100% deer stands there were some concrete pillboxes or gun emplacements or something a bit militaristic. I think it'd be reasonable to assume the military would have mounted a few salient defenses at places other than just the airfields.
  25. So many no nuance having, left brained motherfuckers in this forum. The OP is theatre. Can all the engineering undergraduates pipe down and let PL roleplay the Legion hoes to repeated death please? You're not the first ever person to encounter dramatic theatre. Romeo and Juliet wouldn't be Romeo and Juliet if the Capulets just said "sit down and keep it to yourself fags." Can a mod set up a subforum for wars and bounty hunting?
