First of all, I haven't downloaded any mods so thank you...now I know what ACR is lol (Just started playing again after some time). Now to answer, is ACR an actual expansion? If so, when you are not playing that can you launch ARMA 2 and look under the menu and disable that add-on...if in fact is is one? Edit: That is the first thing that popped into my head. Perhaps someone with some ongoing experience can chirp in. Otherwise I will try to find out tonight when i get out of work. :)

I'm in work so I cannot look at DayZ Comm atm, but there is an area in intall/updates or perhaps settings that says "run through steam" and you can check areas that show the pathway to your steam game. If the message is "ACR wrong CD key" or somethingof that nature, do a quick google search for it. I feel like I saw mixed results for that problem (but it wasn't a game breaking issue). It may have been something to do with running as administrator so the key can copy correctly into the registry? But don't quote me on that. :P Yes, if you purchased the game through Steam, steam itself has to be running in order to launch the game from DayZ Comm. Make sure to right click and select "properties" for the Steam icon then check "run as Administrator." Then you can just click on your Steam link and it will always run as admin. <- This may require you to initially close out steam then do the mentioned steps and relaunch.

BattlEye Server Filters for DayZ Mod 1.8.4
J. Prime replied to facoptere's topic in Server Owners and Admins
I just wanted to say that I have a definite love/hate relationship for BE filters...lol. Thanks for this thread. I've learned a lot combined with this and BIS's battleye explanation as well as a short but well done explanation on Dayzcc.tk Facoptere, it's nice to see someone so adamant about helping people out without just saying "read up and go through the madness like the rest of us all did." **Although I prefer the madness because I'm just running a private test server on a local small business line network. So going crazy reading for hours about logs and Battleye script restrictions, MPEventHandlers, etc works for me. Keep up the good work! ***New guys make sure you take notes on everything you do so you don't go through it again. AND BACKUPS!!! ;) -
The 4th Recon gaming unit for DayZ has disbanded from what I know of. Not sure what happened after you applied. Haven't really been in 4th's Teamspeak in quite some time. :)

We do not take bandits, and you will be briefed on our ROE's prior to us heading out and expected to abide by them. Anyone wanting to do so just let us know. See you out there! Camel ========================================= This will be on BalotaBuddies private community. Stop in, get whitelisted and pop on in. http://4th-recon.com http://balotabuddies.net

How do i make a good DayZ private hive.
J. Prime replied to cassyfat's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Also, if you are looking to spawn things live, in game while the server is running...I do not think that's possible. I could be wrong, but you would have to use some sort of hack tool to inject them. I;ve seen hosts use them for instant testing of certain mods/etc, but its not worth it. They run through keys like it's nobodies business. Google "the silent warrior DayZ" and you should get the result of what you are looking for or at least an idea. Not sure what else is out there currently that is "easy" to use. **But honestly...start hanging out in opendayz and sites of that nature. And seriously keep using DayzCC for building a private server (unless someone has some other suggestions). Make copies of anything you open and toy around with. It will make you more of a "legit admin." Like custom changing the spawns and spawn rates for items in buildings and crashed helo's. Simple to many, but a great intro to how the game really runs on the back end. Same with the DB, back it up and start looking at the world_vehicle list (<---I think that's the correct table)...change it around. It's a pretty cool feeling 1st time you go into a DB and make a wheel and ghillie spawn into the gear of a ATV...just as a quick example. Someone showed me this once in regards to loot spawns as an example: (1st line shows what weapons spawn in, 2nd line shows shows the rate in which they spawn) _ItemType = [["G36K_Camo","weapon"],["M4A1_Aim","weapon"],["M24","weapon"]] _itemChance = [0.047, 0.075, 0.025]] When you find the right file, you will notice this for building types, and everything else and can then customize loot, etc. -
How do i make a good DayZ private hive.
J. Prime replied to cassyfat's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Well unless he wants to customize certain things like give people a hatchet or map to start, maybe a pistol, etc. There are certain tools available like SilentWarrior, but so far, although I use them (and I'm still a novice) nothing beats learning what's inside the files themselves or the database. Sure you can REALLY screw it up, but if you have a good PC you can virtualize a test server or just use a "crap box" as I call it (nothing TOO powerful, and YES using DayzCC) for testing and learning. It's the best thing I've ever done because you REALLY learn how to use the game/server. Although I'm not sure I would have retained initial interest to get things going without initially using a host tool or 3rd party (TSW). -
Thanks for the people that reached out to us for some action. The people that did, we had some epic ops this weekend.

Not really any action on my part. Just a vid of a few of us pushing into the 4SFG base on Balota Buddies private US server after what I heard was a gigantic battle earlier. We linked up with Bush from JSF at some point in the beginning. The 4SFG guy was doing his thing for sure in there. Props to 4SFG. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFJu-yqEJv8&feature=youtu.be

Any Servers with... or few other questions
J. Prime replied to maxipower's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
We were all noobs and had the same thing happen. There are tricks to losing zombies. They work off of line of sight. You need to weave in and out of trees/bushes or when there are buildings with doorways on opposing sides or multiple doorways if a larger building (like Elektro school) you can run into one and out the other and then crouch or run again and do the same. It's an art form to learn and it works 800%. Zombies are not TOO lethal? You just started. The game is challenging and it keeps a lot of people going. That's how it went from Mod to soon to be standalone. Its only a matter of time before somebody makes a Dayz clone that works and will pluck players from this. - People have been trying but its kind of difficult because the game is that good (yes I know that's opinion) and there are laws involved. The aiming in this game is ass the ammo is too scarce that makes zombies not hard to kill but quite frankly annoying. - Negative. This isn't call of duty or anything else with simple shooting characteristics. ARMA although not perfect has some amazing elements of realism that are lacking in other games when it comes to shooting (1st or 3rd person). It's a post apoc zombie game brother. You need to learn where the loots are and how to use that ax on Zeds when you don't have much ammo. Ammo SHOULDN'T be abundant or you are not trying to SURVIVE whether that be from zombies or players. Probably one of the best ways I learned a few tricks is joining a gaming clan for a bit (or stay). At least someone can show you around and tricks of the trade. It's a much better experience once you grap certain things. Quite of few of my friends were the same way until we showed them some tips. ;) -
I know there is a slightly more bland version if the player presses "Insert" once in game. But I do not recall at the moment if it shows zombie count on server or blood. I do recall it showing Zombie kills/headshots/murders/bandit kills and humanity. I would have more an answer but I am in work right now and cannot get to the game. :) **I have seen quite a few people coding/adding some custom debug monitors as well though which are much better. One I really liked was again server side and displayed a timer for server restarts. THAT is winning in my opinion.

1 week old public hive server no chopper (VILAYER)
J. Prime replied to waffen-79's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Survival Server here...Someone nabbed the chopper by the 2nd day...crashed it in front of Elektro church doors ( ). It took about 13+ day (maybe 15ish) and then respawned luckily on Skalitsky. Crashed it 3 hours after we fixed it. Going to check again for it which should be a few days. I've read many a people reporting about 13-15 days for a chopper respawn (this is public btw). Just adding my experience in and will keep you all posted. ;)
