I'm sure it is your CPU. 2.3 Ghz is not going to cut it. You should upgrade you CPU, Mobo, and RAM. I did all that for under $300 and I get about 30 FPS in Cherno. I do not have a video card in here yet. I have been trying my best to spread the word around lol, the AMD A10 5800k runs this game great. Don't be afraid of AMD, though not as good as Intel, they are a great budget CPU. They WILL surprise you. I have been an Intel user for most of my gaming career, so I was pretty nervous about it. AMD A10 5800k MSI FM2 A85XA Motherboard Kingston HyperX XMP 4GB x2 Like I said no video card yet, but you can crossfire it with a low profile ATI card. And defrag. Defrag the poop out of your hard drive. After you defrag, do it agian.

It's your CPU. I am running an AMD A10 5600k with no video card and am getting 28-32 in Electro/Cherno. I would also defrag the crap out of your hard drive. I tried EVRYTHING, but the only thing that worked was a CPU upgrade. I was getting 8-10 fps in cherno. See if you cant upgrade your i5 to a newer version, something over 3.0 ghz. But it seems that you are running it on a laptop, so that might not be possible. Oh and +1 for me reading....I noticed you said you have friends with lower spec laptops running better. See what their CPU speed it, thats the biggest thing, but DEFRAG. It did help me a bit before.

Alright so after a few months of Cherno lag, I got a new processor. I was on an extrem budget so I went with the A-10 5800k. I also bought a new fm2-a85xa-g65 motherboard with 8gigs 1600mhz DDR3 RAM. Without my video card in, I am getting great results. I have not tried it with fraps yet, but it is butter smooth compared to what I was getting. I got all that for under $300. I really hope this helps someone in my position. I don't need 380 fps in my games, hell I dont need 60. 30+ is just fine for me. Hope this helps guys.

I got a pretty good cooler, so I might do that. But if I am getting 30ish I wont bother. This is a great CPU, no need to drop $200+ for one.

Try defragging your HDD first. That will help a bit. The CPU is probably hurting you the most, I have a halfway decent one, and it kicks my ass in cities. I was getting about 10 in cities and probably 15-20 now after I defraged the poop out of my putter.

All I can say is we have had a great go with the Vilayer guys. They work their asses off, and still take time to get to know their customers. I ordered the day.st server for the customizations, but will probably drop it for this. Nothing againts the st guys of course, the server seems to be solid. We just already have 2 servers through Vilayer and I would be happy to make it three. Edit* Are you guys going to throw Dayz+ up? I got a few clan mates who enjoy it.

We are always looking for new players. http://www.lethalhq.com/. We have a long clan history, and have been on Dayz for a good while now. We also have a normal Arma2 OA server for practice and what not.

I have a basic DSL connection, and while I can play, it is much more stable than Hughes net. I avearge about 150 kb/s.

I think the vast majority of people who are interested have probably already bought ARMA2. When they do release the stand alone it will be a fucking money cow.

I have: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz Nvidia 8800 gtx 6 GB DDR2 RAM and I get about 20-30 fps, it slows down in Cherno/Electro. My ping goes from 80-90 to about 150-200 in those towns, so I think its ping lag. Point is, it will either work or it won't XD thats just how this game is. Farcry 3 seems to be that way for some people too, I am just under ultra and have no issues, but people with super computers are complaining about lag lol. My advise is be a minimalist. I only have about 30-40 processes going, and no anti virus. If its not needed I turn that crap off. Oh and since you have a laptop, try and get rid of bloatware. Also unless you really know what you are doing, I would not open that thing up. By the looks of things it can't be to old, the thermal paste should still be okay.

90% of your kills are fresh spawns. Go North, see how long you last against real bandits. You may think anyone who does not spawn kill is a "carebear", but everyone else thinks you're a child. When you are at the NWAF (North West Airfield) (I typed that out since I do not think you have ever been there), fighting tooth and nail against actual threats, and have to make tactical decisions based on experience, is where pvp really happens. Don't get me wrong I have camped and shot new spawns in Cherno before during the non saving days, but I got bored of it in about 2 days, Their was no challenge to it at all. The fact that this is how you spend you entire time is pathetic, you then have the balls to say you collect their gear. This of course will be answered by yet another meme. I will be called a "carebear" (even though I am a "bandit") he will say something about me crying, like I can't go to my tent and grab extra gear. He will probably have a wank at my supposed tears, tell his mom how great he is at dayz, punch a two year old, download a virus while trying to find a hack before he response to my 1 vs 1 invite, poop himself a little, forget to wipe and have itchy butt, get mom to fix it, sweep his basement/bedroom/moms house, call the cops on the local pre-teen bully, go to walmart and take out his anger on care bear stuffed animals, develop hemorrhoids, and loose his sock in the dryer.

I cant expect much from you though, killing Bambie is poor practice. Better yet come to our Arma 2 OA Server and we can 1 vs. 1. I can throw up a deathmatch game. Dayz only guns maybe. I don't know about the Rev., but I enjoyed my time here. Trolling trolls or getting trolled while trying to troll, is always fun.

I love how you call yourself an alpha male. Your some guy moving a fake guy around in a fake world. Like it takes real courage to do what you do. Their is nothing alpha male about what you do, your just a wannabe badass ruining other peoples day. It's not that I don't love the pvp in the game, I just think you should find people in a better in game situation, maybe someone who can actually fight back. That is much more fun. I for one would love to start hunting other pvpers, a sort of bandit bandit. They have all the goods anyway :)
