And you can get food, water and wood by yourself. I guess I should have been more specific and mentioned that I'm talking about playstyles here.

Not really. Take a 10 blood loss per minute for a new survivor who happens to lose say 2000 blood. They are now at 10000 blood. They have ~8 hours to find someone to help them before they get below 5000 blood. Thats not counting getting food in them either. Make it 25 blood per minute' date=' and its now ~3 hours. [/quote'] And that is why I'm saying you might as well just respawn. Everything you do in those 3/8 hours is inevitably pointless, as you have literally no way of preventing it as a solo player. Rewarding teamplay is fine, but severely punishing solo play isn't. You eat at least once per hour, which is at least 200 blood. If you eat more often, you can increase the time you have to seek help. What would it really accomplish though, apart from forcing some people to do what they dont really want to do? By forcing the players hand you get a situation where he goes "Aw dammit, now I HAVE to do this thing". That is not good. The player feels forced to do something he doesn't wanna do and gets frustrated with the game. Instead you have to build your game in a way that makes the player want to do whatever you want him to do, without forcing him to do so. Blood bags is an example of that in the game currently. It is possible to regain your blood without one, but it is much more convenient to use than eating tons of food. That gives an incentive to work together. Its obviously not enough to really facilitate teamwork, but the bandage idea wouldn't be either.

WTF is happening to the server community.

If a zombie outbreak happened you definately would not have some sort of every man for himself scenario, where everyone would just run around shooting everyone else. -

This is a pretty awful idea. Basically if you ever start bleeding as a solo player you might as well just respawn immediately instead of dragging out the inevitable.

Well its not really the lag thats the problem, its how weird their sprinting patterns are.
-
I must admit, that I'm a bit disappointed that the zombies are going to stay as they are. I really feel the game would be better with a decently sized makeover of the whole zombie system. Especially the whole homing missiles zombies that instantly know where you are and where you're moving to as soon as they're activated, even if they're 300m away when that happens.
-
Slower zombies will be more fun, less predictable and interact better with survivors.
feriluce replied to Horr1d's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Seems like a great idea. Needs some tweaking ofc, but the basics are sound. The zombies currently are really quite silly. For instance today I fired a single shot from a hunting rifle, then immediately got up and relocated. 30 seconds later a horde of zombies had magically tracked me to my new location and sprinted out of the trees. That is just weird imo. I really feel they need to be slowed down somewhat as well, or at least have their weird evasion manoeuvers dealt with. I actually think that fightinging zombies indoors feels much better when you've got a lot of them after you. Yes they're slow and you can usually avoid getting hit (unlike outside where its impossible), but you actually feel just as threatened. Outside the zombies just feel annoying and gimicky. -

Wow, gotta love the retards in here actually DEFENDING people who downright exploit. I guess that says something about the kinds of people this mod attracts. -

Has there been a way to repack your mags added yet? I remember it being possible in ace. -
Trading Post, volunteers required

Do you need to make some kind of time commitment to this? I'm kinda interested in this, but I'm not entirely sure how much time I can put into the game. -
So far I've seen an alice pack in a few of those small outhouses that is in most residential areas. However I've never been able to get it no matter how I maneouver around. Does anyone have a trick on have to get at it, if it is even possible?

Alice pack in the outhouse. LET ME LOVE YOU!
feriluce replied to feriluce's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I haven't had problems picking up the other items, as its usually possible to do it with a bit of moving around. However the alice pack has eluded me. -
Yea, while I think I would probably prefer slow zombies (but more of them), the main problem is their matrix-like abilities. There is only 2 ways to kill them. Either from a good distance while they're running towards you, or after they've done their matrix stuff and starts eating your face. Its simply impossible to kill them when they're mid-range.

Incentive system for team play (discussion and possible ideas)
feriluce replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Isn't direct chat fixed in the beta patch? Anyway, as I've suggested before, some sort of specialization system would help with cohesion, because people would need to rely on eachother. This would obviously also mean that bandits would want to group together in larger groups, and you would actually have some interesting scenarios where groups of bandits raid survivor camps etc. -
Don't add artificial advantages or disadvantages for any playstyle, ever.

A different kind of "Let me give you Money" Thread
feriluce replied to Perrywinkle's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Dont you think it would be better to leave it up to the developers how to spend any eventual money? By asking for something like this you're basically saying that you dont think the developers know what they're doing. -

feriluce replied to ezdaroth's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The OP's point fall apart when we take into account that this is a game and that players doesn't act the same way in games that they do IRL. You can set up the most realistic evironment possible, but players are still not going to act realistically because they know it is a game. That is why "gamey" mechanics needs to be implemented in order to encourage players to act realistically. Realistic behaviour > realistic setting. -
Day Z amazing, Arma II poor interface
feriluce replied to superhans18's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I love arma and I played on TG with Ace/Acre for quite a while and I think knocking people for buying the game just for the mods is ridiculous. I also dont see why you're praising the socalled "die hard fans". If I was ever called a die hard fan, I would probably take it as an insult. Regarding optimization, its very clear that the game doesn't look that good and yet it is still among the most demanding games I own at the moment. Its not bad looking certainly, but its extremely hard to get decent performance out of it on anywhere near max settings. The netcode is also really quite crappy. The servers can barely handle above 40 players without starting to fall over, and at least until recently stuff like players warping around in the distance was commonplace. -
Player corpses disappearing in new patch?
feriluce replied to lexxer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That might explain the weird things I noticed today. I had bled out sad and alone in an abandoned house, and spawned back at the coast. When I moved around about I started hearing flies coming from nowhere. This repeated several times as I was moving along the coast. -
Day Z amazing, Arma II poor interface
feriluce replied to superhans18's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You know what really grinds my gears? People who bought Arma 2 JUST for DayZ. See Note You seem to have contracted Hipster. Might wanna get that checked out. Seriously' date=' who whines about people buying a game just to play a single mod? That really amazes me. If you enjoy the game you should be fucking extatic that the company that makes it are raking in a good amount of sales. More money to the dev = better new games in the future, no matter where that money is coming from. Lies' date=' I have a 800$ machine from '08 and I get 20 - 70 Fps. You clearly don't understand the graphics settings or your machines worth in dimes. [/quote'] The game clearly isn't very well optimized. It doesn't look incredibly amazing yet it runs a lot worse than games that do. -
Day Z amazing, Arma II poor interface
feriluce replied to superhans18's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Arma 2 is both a horrible game and a great game at the same time. The netcode is awful, the game is horribly optimized, the interface is bad. Yet those things aside its extremely good at what it does, and it really is the only game out there that can give you these kinds of experiences atm. Also the fact that it is greatly moddable is really its absolute greatest strength. Once you've played amazing mods like day z or ace+acre and go back to the vanilla game, you get kinda disappointed. -

He is right though, the game would be much worse without pvp. It just needs to be regulated somehow.
