Once you go back you never go black
CNasty replied to Serious Stan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So basically this is a post justifying yourself to yourself (as the community doesn't care) about how you choose to play a bandit. Whoopdee doo!!! You just became a unique person just like everybody else. Only you wanted to give it a catchy title so that everybody would read about your personal choice. -
<TROLL> You screwed up your post... the word "partner" is way off chillin on the left like a democrat... </TROLL>

and don't forget that by tapping the forward key, you can stay quieter than if you just hold it while creeping... or is that another cheat? or exploit? or is that fair? I just DON"T KNOW ANYMORE!?!?!?!? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How many times have you died to zombies?
CNasty replied to Blippy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I unfortunately do still die from zombies on a semi-regular basis, but mainly due to playing on an old laptop. More than 3 zombies rush me, and my whopping 20 FPS drops to about 10... thus rendering my beautiful shiny Makarov pistol useless for headshots, and we know how it goes from there. -

Dayz game model to military sim?
CNasty replied to Simple Jack's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
so... let me get this right.. you want to use a mod for a military sim that allows perpetual characters that reset when you die, and run it for purely PvP? You run around, gun people down, and pick up their weapons to get better toys, only to get shot and start all over again? have you ever been to the NWAF? Then you've already played it! -
I will play alot more once the standalone comes out... by then I should be back in the states with a decent gaming rig, instead of suffering 15-20 FPS on a laptop!

On topic, check the servers with 1) LOW ping (like under 100, preferably 50), 2) more players means more server effort and usually longer load times, 3) I make sure the server is up to date. If they are lagging on one of the patches, then it's probably not being maintained, and so who knows what is going on behind the scenes there. 4) be patient. Some days I get in after 30 seconds, and other days I have to alt+f4 out of a locked up loading screen a few times and try again, and magically I'm in.

ooh, you're right! and to unlock bonus content, go to Cherno and ask if there are any friendlies. They will give you a 3" by .50 Cal. gift pack!

Congratulations! You have completed the game! We hope you enjoyed playing!

Trust me when I speak from experience: any short-cut keys will have a minimal impact on the game one way or the other.

A thought to reduce the shoot on sight only problem
CNasty replied to Vorg's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I was wondering how long it would take for somebody to realize that I had somehow valued everybody's life at circa $30! That could make a new tagline somehow. -

There really is no in-game fix to banditry/KOS/Sniping. Even if you kill the bandit/sniper/douchebag, he will just re-spawn, grab another rifle, and resume. The only true fix to this would be to make it a one-life game. You buy the game, you play the game. When you die, you're dead. Game over. You just wasted 30-40 bucks. Hope you enjoyed your 15 minutes of fame, but you never get to play again. Only then would your in-game life begin to resemble the true cost of PvP IRL. However, then nobody would buy the game. Therefore, you will always have to deal with this. Trust me, the standalone won't fix these issues. It is due to the minimal-consequence design of video games. So raging about it won't fix the problem. I don't know what will fix the problem besides a game so massive and in-depth that we can have 200-300 people on a server 24-7 working in shifts to act as law enforcement, and a system to system-intensive that it would be unplayable with the current generation of computer. Even then, the "police" will spend minimal time eating donuts, and just end up in non-stop PvP/Patrols to prevent the one sniper who thinks he can beat the system. Until that happens, just enjoy the game, and cry a few tears after dayz of looting ends with a single loud bang somewhere between stary and Pusta in the middle of the forest. BTW, to whoever that was: "Great shot douchebag, I hate you now." :-D -
Give Current Dayz Players Free Game Keys On Release
CNasty replied to Mikeloeven (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Think of the investment as buying an outstanding game for less than the cost of the beer you bought to drink while playing it in college. That's how I have to justify it. -
Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.
CNasty replied to ruarz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
After reading some of the suggestions on this thread for what people want, I think I came up with a better idea to solve it all. Rocket and crew just need to stop working on the programming, and start building the virus instead. Once the virus is released into the wild, the people will then have all the realism they crave. And it would probably be less work for his crew. -
The learning curve is very steep. I played a fair share of ArmA before this mod came out, and it still took me a bit to get used to it. Don't worry, it may be steep, but it's short, and before you know it you will be running back to claim the m16, ak, and full kit that just got raped from your still warm corpse by some random bandit with an AS50 just for the lulz... But it's still an awesome experience.

Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.
CNasty replied to ruarz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Alot of these have good points and Bad. Honestly, I love the game no matter how much it is broken! (if that even makes sense). Here are really my couple of thoughts. Zombies: When one zombie aggro's on somebody, that should cause the others to look at it, and therebye increase their awareness to possibly aggro as well. Zombies are attracted to ANY noise, not just player created noise. Mod-ability: Mod modability means more hackability. More modding means more hacking! More hacking means more delicious tears. However, I'm not a fan of hacking, and thus I saw while user-based mods sound good, it's an additional vulnerability. Therefore I would have to say highly limit the standalone as far as mods. Half the problem with the mod is ARMA's mod-ability that allowed this awesome game. Maybe have a repository that can be uploaded to for review, and possible implementation. OR... ...get ready for it... ... we let the programmers do their job and trust in Rocket's awesomness. Radios: Have programmable frequencies (in reality it's just a set number of VOIP channels.) That way bandits can scan the waves, but survivors have a semi-private way to communicate. Imagine talking on channel 16 (generally accepted open band) and somebody says switch to channel 5. Great, now you're in your own conversation, but little do you know Joe.Bandit is also on channel 5, and headed to intercept you at the rendevous point you just agreed on. Pointing weapons at people/Bandit Indicators: I don't do it anymore, because I'm always ready to shoot, but just hitting the (I think) CNTRL+R key lowers your weapon already. You just have to primary-click to bring it back into shooting position. So maybe it's less of a fix, and more of an ettiquette thing that needs to be adopted. Change the default key to something you can click quickly after firing, and maybe if everybody starts to run around with their wepons pointed down, and only raise them according to the second firearms safety rule "never point your weapon at anything you do not intend to shoot", we can start to prevent some of those moments. At least until the other guy realizes you're an easy kill and stabs you in the back. Other than that, a bandit looks just like anybody else. As far as friendly/team indicators, just make hats colored or logo'd, or go with arm-bands. Sure, they can be imitated, but that happens IRL all the time. Sorry about my grammar. English is my primary language. ;) IMPORTANT EDIT: This is the end of the world. The only two things supposed to survive are roaches and twinkies. We've got the bugs, where's my friggin' Twinkies!?!? -
You know you're playing too much DayZ when...
CNasty replied to Sula's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
IRL, prepping for a typhoon... need to stock up on 2-3 days of food, and I walk down the canned goods isle, and immediately lock on the beans.... too bad they didn't have Heinz, or I would have to take a pic of me eating them in the middle of the typhoon.
