  1. The melee mechanics should mimic those of already known melee based games. i.e. War of the roses, Warband Mount & Blade. if you haven't played these games, I highly recommend checking them out. I'll explain them though. If you wish to stab. You click and pull the mouse down at the same time, once you release the LMB you stab. you can slash right and left by pushing the mouse in left or right, or downwards slash by pushing the mouse up. Blocking is the same basic concept. I feel the game should have this melee mechanic 'style' in it to make it easier and stream line melee combat

  3. I guess you would just press F to switch over to it, if there where bayonets. other wise you would have to equip the weapon.
  4. yes but M&B is a true melee game, DayZ revolves around rifles, where melee will play a secondary role in the game. I think modern rifles with M&B melee mechanics will complement them each other quite well, or at least more then the BF or CoD slash mechanic. Witch feels rather like lazy work by the developers. It's not that bad, have you played the game ;)
  5. I agree the player shouldn't turn in to a zombie. The human asspect of the game would ruin the point of a infection forcing you to be aggressive towards other players. I was thinking more of a AI taking over your character. You character will be "Dead" in the seance that you can't play as it anymore. Mist spilling from their mouth seems a little arcade to me, though in practice it may come out quite while. I had in mind a puff of mist, like how you breath looks when you breathe in the cold. I've kind of stop caring about the threads only logging on to check up on my own post. Though either way, I'll re read the OP and update it according to what I see is fit to be in it. So you didn't write that in vine ;) But it will take a bit, I've kind of drop out of the loop from the forums haha
  6. It's been a while since I wrote this and I've forgot the detail of this post. But the idea that I originally had is that the mist can be formed by the infected. The zombies are infected people so they have to breathe and they would form the mist when being in a group or small pockets of the air borne mist by a single walker. Thus when a horde is on the map, there would be, by default, a huge mist that goes along with it. as far as things that go with it, the only thing i could think of to give it that erry feeling with out being out of the DayZ ideals is portable spot lights or what have you. I feel adding anything with it, with the exception of normal mist (with out the tint) would ruin the point. though I may just not beable to think of anything

    I'm not all sure with the L85 honestly, though with the M16 and a 20 inch barrel, the Max range is a bit over 3,500meters. I assumed it was the same with the L85a1 since it also has 20 inch barrel and shoots the same round. It would be safe to assume it has the same max range as the M16a4. But the 5.56 coming out of a M16 barrel can hit a target at 3,500 meters. though the MOA is going to be the size of the sun. it is possible ;) I can't say I know this for fact is the same for the L85 but logic says it would fold over to the. Same barrel length, same bullet ;) I'm not really talking about it's killing range, i've never shot someone at 3,000m out haha just that the bullet flies that far.

    L85 can kill up to 3,000m maximum range. Effective range being 600m
  9. I'm not all sure if anyone has tried this. I sure hope it's in stand alone, if anyone does do it, I'd love to see it implemented!!
  10. yes it does, though the L85 with thermals doesn't at all. and I come from Arma ;) I play Arma over Dayz anyday, I'll play Arma 2 over DayZ Stand alone, but that's irrelevant because DayZ sucks atm (why everyone is quitting) The issues are the snipers, the game is dry, it's full of hackers and the community is turning to shit. Just trying to help fix the 1st 2, the rest is up to Rocket. You can't turn Arma in to Battlefield haha
  11. I'm just going to wait for the stand alone, the Arma2 mod is dry and lacks substance, plus the community simply sucks.

I'm suprise you found it in the 1st 7 pages! it's been a while since this got any attention =o I agree with the zombie thing, but I don't think electricity should dictate rather or not zombies are spawning. There should be more to that then just power flowing. After all the zombies don't mind the sunlight ;) why would they mine a lightbulb

I didn't really read your post, but I agree with the tittle haha It is an Alpha mod full of hackers, you can be bugged out or teleport in to the middle of the ocean or have your avatar drained from it's start off abilites i.e. walking, aiming, seeing, hearing bla bla bla. I think it should be removed at the end of testing, but daring testing it should be there.

The DayZ community can be stupid as fuck sometimes. the problem is with DayZ as a part of Arma2. because of the content DayZ is forcing down a already made games throat, it's causing the fuck ups. like for exp, in Arma2 AI are smart enough to climb a latter. this falls in to DayZ since it is a mod of Arma2. Once DayZ goes stand alone it will be 50 times more smooth just because it doesn't have conflicting content. unlike ACE where it adds on to the vanilla Arma2, DayZ is trying to change core content.
  16. The Arma2 engine is broken because the DayZ mod is broken, have you even played Arma2? Also, That's why they are updating the engine and making Arma3.

  18. it could use a polishing, but a hot key that speeds it up is silly. Maybe you can have a new choice in the auction menu that says "Slap" and you can slap someone and it will speed it up a little for them ;)
  19. This is really nice, but with all the stuff. it's a tad bit confusing. What if you had some Tabs "Base Layer", "Outer Layer", "Back Pack" at the top and you could cycle threw them I think this would add some space between the items and wouldn't be so crammed all together
