No problem you may find out that CIT and large scale PvP in arma can be as thrillign as DayZ but are lacking the frustration of DayZLuckily since the DayZ hype is goign down right now regular ArmA II servers are beginning to fill again...and for the first time in 2 years I see new players on the regular big public servers again... DayZ did it's job. Just do not try to kill for gear on warfare servers the first time you log on into the HQ base...there's no need to.
  2. DayZ was nice for some weeks as a mod but it dos not have enough content to make it a standaloen game. You loose the facination after doing the same run to gear up and die somewhere aftr a few times. Without content the mod gets boring after a few weeks....and since I know that already...why should I buy it?

    Weapon effects on Humans were always "nerfed" in DayZ. In vanilla ArmA II you do not even have a chance to log off after a single AK hit to the chest from 50m because you're already dead. ArmA II was always much more unforgiving in pure PvP compared to DayZ. The "nerf" is barely noticable in ArmA II and just a long time overdue and often requested fine tuning. DayZ has to adopt, it's that simple. Last time i checked DayZ was labeled Alpha.

    Makes pretty much sense since the 9x18 has only half the muzzle energy of a 9x19 in the real world.All of the changes for ammuntion and weapon values do make sense in ArmA 2 and are just a correction made to reset the lethality after a rise in lethality in 1.59. Assault rifles like AK74 were never meant to kill armoured soldiers in one hit at 300m. Precision is reduced too. In ArmA you will barely notice the change at less than 150 meters, he changes kick in only at range, one or two 5.45x39 rounds will kill for sure at 0-100m in ArmA II, but DayZ uses a completely different damage management. It's now in Rocket to make changes to DayZ since the changes are fine for realims sake in ArmA II.

    typing *friendly* is a waste of time in DayZ nowadays...you get shot the first three times doing so and that's when you stop beeing nice and shoot first. It did not used to be that way all the time but at least since may this is the way you have to deal with it if you don't want to be killed instead. To ne honest, If you want cooperative gameplay play ArmA II CTI or COOP or something like that, you will rarely get shot there by friendlies and you will know the enemies by their uniforms.

    The whole idea of a safezone is nonsense as long as players can just "beam" in by sever hopping. Server hopping was once hard back in the times when servers werre rare but nowadays you find a slot anytime somewhere.

  11. What distracts me most is the endless wall of chat, both side and server messages, and of couse the russian guys that use the side or global voice chat all the time.

    VoIP works on rather empty servers...it seems that it ceases to work as soon as there are more then 30 players. Some servers have it deativated by default.

    I don't see any chance for nonhostile encounter as long as direct VoIP is not working right. All kind of encounter procedures involving move sideways and poitn here or there are not practical and problematic at best....text is no way of fast situational clarification...I got shot typing most of the time when i was naive enough to even try.
  17. Just wait a while, Rocket has more up the sleeve...in next hotfix you will have to find a spoon to eat from cans and a fork and dish to eat cooked meat. Campfires and wood wil be droped in favor of charcoal and a drivable barbecue oven as a vehicle class. Canned food will run out of supply and in final there will be a McDonalds in Guglovo that sells softdrinks and Burgers to Survivors for real money... it will accept paypal. There will also be a daily Bandit raid into that McDonalds. As real as it can get. ;)

    The trading was only possible throug VoIP. I started alone after death and beeign chased by zombies I came along a team of 7 that safed me...I payed for th expense in ammo and joined the team. Near Vyshnoye a group of russians sat up in the tower of the castle, we came in to loot...they told us to stay away first and since we complied without agressive behaviour they calles us back and asked for trade...they were in need of painkillers. After the bargain a bandit (there was no bandit skin back then, so everyone shooting on sight was considered a bandit) came to the castle and killed our leader in an ambush...we had three losses when everyone started to shoot everyone in the panic ;) I went with the russians for a while then and near Airfield I joined a loner at a barn that was too afraid to go into airfield alone...etc

    That's not possible with simple dataserver cheating. there's more to it then.

    When did I say I defend i, I just said I found myself pulling the string lately more, a.k.a rebooting when things got to hairy because I know from testing a slight chance exists you go unharmed. I do not use server hopping...server hopping ans impossible anyway most of the time because servers are full and I onyl play on a handfull of them on regular basis 2 or 3 hours a day. But the issue has to be fixed by some kind of log off delay... often a few seconds despawn delay for the char after user logout would be enough.

    I think a pure ingame use for humanity woudl be better, something like beeign less prone to infections or something like that...simpyl because you often have to wait 1 hour anyway to get a slot ;)

    No exploting is needed to show what the aloha is missing...we are testing this mission...this has to include the exploits. What do you think why im writign it here instead of keeping it to myself? Because this is a alpha version test, but no problem feel free to ban all testers that report in here...go on to only look at the bright sides of the apha version just ignore the issues. TESTING mst include totry it out all, the good guy way, he bandit way, gettign ill dieing in all ways possible and even to test what happens if you quickdisconnect. Im not playing this in a serious "roleplaying" way, im testing what is possible and what not and reporting in after. I tested having -17.000 humanity I tested having 5000, I tested being ill, being nice beeign bad, hiding in the hillsm runnign amok in cherno and sniping beanbags at coast... that's what a alpha is about. If it was possible to play as a nurse I would try that too.

    the first three weeks of DayZ open alpha up to version 1.52 had lots of teamwork and joinign groups of foreigners...VoIP worked flawless and servers were rarely competely full. We also had more trades, bargains and deals, mostly medicines for ammo or food. That's all gone now and after the 10th time of beeign killed trying to make friendly contact I finally joined the shoot first never look bacl fraction...because you have to or you're dead.

    We were discussing not losing gear with death, not server hopping to get a better shooting positions, that's another story but still the same issue. as long as tis issue is not fixed there is no point in banning people for using it.

    Best way to meet up with a friend?

    I usually use codenames for five distinct meeting points all over the map...all you need to type in in chat is somethign like "Earl Grey, eta 20 minutes". Maps with the markers are in my private section for my coplayers on my facebook. Btw we also use skype rather than buggy ngam chat anyway.
