Happy Birthday, Matt Lightfoot

I was thinking king, but as long as it is a royalty. The Pony community has let me down..... After all the time I have spent on your threads...... :P No holidays for mods :), if it were a public holiday it would require a mandatory second breakfast that must be consumed by every citizen. -

Thanks again guys :) -
Hi guys, Something people have been asking for is DayZ t-shirts, so we have joined up with Joystick Junkies, to provide to you some t-shirt designs. Because we are so heavily dependant upon the community, due to members hosting servers and you all being fantastic and deciding to play DayZ. We want to give you the options of the t-shirt designs we have so far. I present to you the three options, please vote in the poll below; Option one - I Survived the DayZ Alpha [attachment=380] Option two - DayZ logo t-shirt [attachment=379] Option three - You are dead [attachment=381]

Happy Birthday, Matt Lightfoot

2am in the morning is definitely not beer o'clock unless it isn't a work night then it could be. Silly o'clock is when I am awake at a time that I shouldn't be like 3am -

Hi all thanks for the great messages, I do like fixing DayZ :P Check out Rockets twitter for the latest fix to be part of the next update https://twitter.com/rocket2guns/status/243627892339253248 -
Well the mod was never made for profit, if anything it cost the team money :) and you need money to fund development as well.
-
The thing is, we are working on them as well as building the game. We think we have a solution for tents/vehicles, artifacting we are still working on.

Right I'm going to go off topic slightly hopefully the mods won't ban me for it ;) Right please look at the thread I must have just read about 6-8 things we should do immediately before anything else according to the author, we aren't able to tackle everything. We can't make the standalone game, fix all of the bugs, add more content, communicate everything we do and fight hackers all at the same time. There aren't enough hours in the day. Someone said that before we were "famous" we fixed graphical glitches in a week, that is because it wasn't the same problem. This is a much much more difficult problem to fix. We are working hard on trying to fix the problem which as solved it for some but the solution for those that are still experiencing the problems still eludes us. We need to prioritise what we do and time manage, all of the team are putting in insane amounts of hours so we can do more, but that still isn't everything. We have target release dates for patches which tend to be exceeded, we then get people complaining that it is late. The mod is more inclined to have problems than standalone games, so there will be unforeseen problems. Now as for tents we believe we have a fix to be included in the update but this is pending testing. I will dive onto the IRC now if anyone has any more questions http://goo.gl/3mBVf

Why promote DayZ mod when DayZ standalone is coming? Now what would be the benefit in developing the next update for the mod without having trying to solve the issues already with the mod. As is evident, now some of the things we are adding into the mod, are causing more problems. This is why we are working on standalone, because we can solve many issues through going standalone. Now as for community discussion, myself and Dean and are the two people who read the forums and reply. Two people to a community of over 1,000,000. At that ratio we can never reply to everyone and every question and we are working on improving this, but we can't do everything at once. Back onto topic, if you don't want to vote for DayZ, please vote for someone you think deserves it :)

I understand your frustration, but your language seems to suggest we haven't tried.... Any frustration you show at problems with the mod, multiply that by ten and you will be at how frustrating it is for Dean and the rest of the development team when we can't fix things. Now some problems we inherit from Arma 2, some are caused by ourselves, we have released hotfixes to try and fix the graphical glitches, they work for some but they don't for others. As for word from Rocket, I don't know where you get the impression he isn't talking, there are loads of interview with him at GamesCom. He is with IGN at the moment and will at PAX from tomorrow onwards.

Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update
mattlightfoot replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Right due to the amount of PMs I am getting, the patch will not be released till after the 6th September. When Rocket returns from PAX. Funnily enough that is also my birthday I accept presents.... The amount of gifts showered upon me will not impact the date of the release of the update and Dean is still working on the update while he is away in the US. I apologise for the wait but patience is a virtue. As we are developing the mod and the game at the same time, updates for the mod are likely to be less often due to the increased development tempo on DayZ standalone. As I say, you can't always have your Tiramisu and eat it.- 2513 replies

Your making some massive assertions, the reason we announced when we did was not because of any pressure it is because right from the start we have been honest with the community. At the start of DayZ we thought it would peak at 600 players, it did not. Dean has always been a big fan of the minecraft model because it is a good method of production. Due to you being able to get feedback on any changes you make by a massive audience that also test everything to do with the update. If anything you can see our short iterations in the early days with an update exceptionally regularly being the grounding for our decision to continue with the minecraft model. As for competition, why would that make us want to announce earlier? As Rocket as said we like competition it will only bring a better final product for the consumers. Onto the note of maximising profits, when we made the mod we had large amounts of people offering us donations to help us continue development, we didn't take up any of these offers. This was because for us the project isn't about maximising profits, it is to make DayZ the best it can be. As Rocket as also stated in interviews if we wanted money we would go down the free to play route. However this thread is about our attendance at GamesCom and not a troll thread. Please keep to the original topic

Dayz Admin/Dev Team...WHYYOUDELETETOPIC?
mattlightfoot replied to khalimerot's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Just to make this absolutely clear, we stopped it because it was already being abused. As for combating hackers I direct you to rule 13 on the newly updated server hosting rules http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/62195-server-hosting-rules/ ESPECIALLY THE SECOND PART OF IT Every ban must be accounted for with hard evidence not just he said she said. It requires proof and not just "witnesses" -
It is supported when you plug it in go on the arma escape key menus then go to controllers and enable the xbox controller :)

I will destroy you with a crowbar. Thou shalt not first post me :P

Yeah I'm going to go M14 as well, its amazing when you get used to the bullet drop.

Gloabaly Banned for running Fraps
mattlightfoot replied to Trakz (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I direct your questions about Fraps causing globans bans to http://www.battleye.com/support.html Please don't hack, it is very bad and then if you do, do it please don't complain as there is nothing the DayZ team can do about repealling a global ban apart from post unhelpful memes. Also posting you have a global ban and swearing your innocence does not convince everyone you are innocent..... Please if you have a genuine issue with the global ban because you GENUINELY haven't used hacks get in touch with battle eye (link above). Failing that it just wasting your time posting on this forum, as we can't help you with global bans. -
No there isn't and I suggest you remove the image as he can be traced by information from that image through skype.

DO NOT REPLY TO HACK THREADS!
mattlightfoot replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The problem with having all new users have a probationary period, we have several thousand users sign up to dayz a day, say maybe a thousand on the forums a day. It just isn't feasible, currently the mod team is doing a good job of jumping all over it and as soon as they pop up deleting the threads. The usernames are then banned and the IP is then banned. Once the user has posted a hack thread all of his posts are then deleted. -
(BattleEye: Global Ban #cfff)
mattlightfoot replied to Preyker Aoki's topic in New Player Discussion
Global bans are for hacking, they are administered by battleeye not us so please get in touch with them if you have an issue with it. -
DO NOT REPLY TO HACK THREADS!
mattlightfoot replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
We do, we also are banning the posters IP every single time. sadly we can't monitor every single new thread the second it is posted. I may be a called a god but that is only on account of my amazingly good lucks and not me actually being omnipotent...... We will continue to crack down on hackers and those advertising it.
