2) Flaming:
Any material which constitutes defamation, harassment, abuse or slander, towards developers, staff or users, is strictly prohibited; this includes the Personal Message service.
Use common sense while posting. Non-constructive comments are included. Also please refrain from false and uninformed claims, stick with the facts.
("Harassment of users" includes continuing in-game conflicts on these forums. Do not share others base locations and do not start to pick fights over in-game events.)
3) Off-topic posts:
Any posts that are not relevant to the thread are considered spam.
4) Offensive Content:
Material that is sexually or otherwise obscene, racist, or otherwise overly discriminatory is not permitted on these forums. This includes user pictures. Use common sense. We want to show this website to our mums.
5) Illegal Content:
Providing or asking for information on how to illegally obtain or provide software ("warez") or music is forbidden. This includes posting links to DayZ media from cracked/pirated versions of the game/servers or DayZ imported into ArmA 3.
6) Cross-posting:
Posting a thread in more than one forum is annoying and thus not allowed. Just post it once in the correct place.
7) Copyright and ownership:
Comments & forum messages are owned by the poster.
8 Hypocrisy:
Please don't break the rules to stop other rule breakers, or to prove a point. Just because they did it, doesn't mean you can do it as well, nor should you evade a ban to prove a 'point'.
9) Unnecessary posts:
Posting "don't care", "alpha", "TLDR", "search before you post", "cool story bro", 'fanboy' or any posts along those lines are unnecessary, inflammatory, and/or do not add to the discussion. This includes memes, GIFs and other images that are unnecessary/non-constructive; please keep them to an absolute minimum. If a duplicate thread exists, report it to the moderation team with a link.
10) Transactions:
You may not under any circumstances sell, buy or ask for donations for in game items, the same goes for selling access to an Official or Non official Server, If you choose to do so on a Privately hosted server not connected to Hive you must advertise that else where.
11) Multiple Accounts:
Multiple accounts are not tolerated and may result in a ban for each instance.
12) English only:
The primary language for the chat is English. Use other languages primarily to assist non-fluent users, considering that English may not be the first language for some forum participants.
Guidelines:
Always Be Civil
- Be civil. Don’t post anything that a reasonable person would consider offensive, rude or abusive.
- Respect each other. Just treat everyone with respect, and you shall receive so back.
- Disagreements and directed comments are allowed but remember to criticize ideas, not people. Personal attacks won't be tolerated. Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.
These are not concrete terms with precise definitions — avoid even the appearance of any of these things.
Keep It Tidy
Make the effort to put things in the right place, so that we can spend more time discussing and less cleaning up. So:
- Don’t cross-post the same thing in multiple topics/forums.
- Start topics with meaningful titles.
- Don't bump excessively or unnecessarily. No more than once in 14 days.
- Respect our forum. Don’t post spam. Don't post topics just to advertise your Youtube channel or ask for subscribers. Instead, post your DayZ content in the Gallery ; if users like your video(s), then generally they will subscribe and/or provide feedback. DayZ Livestreams go here.
- Search First. Use the search function to look for an existing thread on the topic that you wish to share your opinion about. You should also look at the pinned topics at the top of each forum.
- Don’t start a topic in the wrong forum section. Take note that our forum is separated into sections for both DayZ (standalone) and DayZ Mod and choose appropriately. If unsure ask a moderator.
Reporting Hacks / suspected cheaters / exploits etc
Please don't post hacking topics on the forum, they achieve no value in solving the issue, do not expedite any action taken against these players and in some cases may give these players the satisfaction/recognition that may motivate them. The posting of exploits, duping and other in-game glitches that can be abused whether by text or video, is strictly forbidden.
If you believe you have found evidence of an unknown exploit/hack/cheater or have any other information which may be useful PM a member of the forum team or submit it to the feedback tracker and it will be looked into by dedicated staff. When submitting issues to the feedback tracker, ideally set to Private with Description/Video/Server Info/Steam ID & Hack used) How to use the feedback tracker.
Reporting abusive servers / admins
If you encounter an abusive admin or server, please do not post it here on the forums. We cannot do anything with these reports. It is not productive and does not expedite action taken against these servers. Please report them to the GSPs directly following the pinned Server Rules and Reporting Guidelines
BattlEye Global bans and VAC bans.
DayZ Staff can not and do not have access to BattlEye global or VAC bans, and can not revoke them in any way possible. You MUST contact BattlEye or STEAM support about any bans issued on you.
If You See a Problem, Report It
When you see bad behavior, don’t reply. It encourages the bad behavior by acknowledging it, consumes your energy, and wastes everyone’s time. Just report it for a moderator to look into and take action if necessary. There is a report button at the bottom of each post.
Should it be felt that the Moderators are overstepping their boundaries, please contact someone from our Community Team directly via PM; at most parts of the day, moderators are very friendly people and should be willing to listen. However please refrain from posting it publicly.
