Maxander's Chernarus Dayz ultimate loot map V1[17454x14626]

Cleaned and extracted it from ARMAII_MAP.pdf

Managed to get it in 4 parts in PNG format at 600 pixels/Inch resolution and piece it back together.

Note that the extraction method i used didnt extract the vectors but basicly did a print screen of the vectors at a set resolution.

Added town names, mountains, points of interests and bays/lakes in English and Cyrillic.

Added New Legends in several layers.

Reworked them again and color coded them for the loot edition.

Legends art From http://www.clker.com, Artists Mohamed Ibrahim & OCAL, modified by me.

Dayz Logo taken from http://www.dayzmod.com

All other art the property of respective artists/studios.

Made for noncommercial use for the community of the most awesome mod i ever played.

Please include this file if you distribute it.

Please do not take away the tag in the right lower corner on pain of nagging.

Finished resolution 17454 x 14626

PNG size 80MB any further lossely compression using optipng and other not possible.

Working size in memory with all layers 7.1 GB when editing it.

Around 70 hours of work including manualy scouting every loot point for about 25 hours.

Note that i used the editor and not the actual mod with the help of the loot sheet at http://picacid.com/arma2/loot_en.html.

Self taught Gimp newb without access to a army of trained chimps to check for errors so please forgive any faults or blatant disregards for proffessional standards or methods.

Any suggestions to improving the map in any way please post in the thread on the Dayz forum or send a mail.

This version contain:

A complete marked map with all the loot points that matters (2 or more in most cases) in colors by loot type suggested by "TeaLeaf"

Major loot points got its own colorcoded legends thats when possible positioned on the specific building without disupting it.

Major loot points are now marked beside the city/location name in larger size to make finding them at lower zoom easier.

Added a couple of locations that was missing.

Legends reworked to match the new loot type color coding.

Other optimizations and rezising of text.

New Logo in the corner tried to keep it small.

How to read the map:

to the right side of the location name is a generic legend icon telling you that the location containes a major loot point, well or other point of interest.

Buildings that were previously grey are now colored depending on loot it contains, if it contains large amount of it it also got a small miniature marking of the same legend as in the location name.

Bulding that have no footprint like wells, gas stations & Deer huts have instead a sligthly larger legend icon that show the aproximate location of it.

*IMPORTANT* Need some feedback on what more should be marked on the map along with what ppl think about me reintroducing the coordinate lines.

Also would like to know if i missed anything like lootpoint or other inaccuracies.

*WARNING READ BEFORE USE*Will take away the exploration gameplay of the game and with that the fun of said exploration.

Finding things out for yourself is a big part of the game so if your not sure you really really need to have a map showing everything then dont download or use it.

Next version will contain:

Superior quality legends with different versions for general marking and mayor loot point marking that is less blurry from "Mars".

More variations of loot icons for higher accuracy of loot points to be expected.

New source map with higher resolution and AA before export.

Whatever improvements the community agrees upon.

2 different versions A&B one with the new type rendered text and one with the old type high readability text.

Some more lootpoints like tents will be added.

It's nice and quick, although the green icons blend in with the rest of the map at times which makes for some unnecessary eye zooming.

Just a warning to beginners, any seperate maps and especially loot maps will destroy a big part of the excitement the game offers. Do this for your own risk, since exploring is a huge part of this Arma 2 mod.

Dont play it like an mmorpg, it is a survival game with a big exploring factor...

Again, good work Max. Only thing I would like to see is gridline/coordinates, but not sure if that is feasible.

I will add it in a version later.

Will take some work to get the lines correctly alligned but is one of the things i want to add.


Been working on V2 and im currently at a decision point on the design.

After spending way to many hours messing with the text and the icons and making it look good i find that it is getting harder to read when placed on the map.

I will therefor scrap the design and going with the quick and simplified variant, no filters or other stuff that will reduce the quality of the text or icons at low pixel editing.

I will move back to high contrast colors in order to make it easier to read.

When im done with it i will make it public and then start working on a v2 variant with a more pleasant look.

Going to take some time but im confident that it will be for the better.

Yeah, I certainly wouldn't recommend a loot map for any beginners. That would totally kill the fun of exploration (since that's one big thing to keep you interested in the beginning).

After the couple of initial plays having acquired the in-game map, I do, however, recommend printing out the chernarus map (the one with the cyrillic names too) if you happen to have a printer. (Sorry, I don't remember the site for that map right off the bat.)

I think it's great fun to have a printed paper map besides the keyboard when playing DayZ... so that you can scribble any good loot locations, locations of wells, and such to the map whenever you find them. It just adds to the immersion to have your very own map to scribble things on. :)

Besides, a paper map is handy for some quick glipses while running around in the woods. It doesn't require you to stop or block your view like the in-game map. (I guess an interactive map on a tablet might do the trick as well)

Or if you just want the quick (and less fun) way, then use the ready-made loot map. :P

Might also be handy for the pros who already have pretty much explored everything.

I noticed something:

Those two deer stands are either not accurately represented, or don't exist at all, as I could not find them.

Also, when are you going to add the military tent locations? :)

Will confirm this asap.

The tents will be added in next version along with corrections.

Almost done with the new fonts after starting from scratch and made them easier to read and better looking.

Map Loot locations all transfered to new map just going to do some changes to coloring.

Then legend work and finishing up the details.

Also need to find the specific locations of the tents to add them.

20-30 hours of work i think.

Those deerstands are there, the NW one is a little bit more NW of the NEXT treeline up, the map is slightly off. Also there is one more deerstand I've discovered that is not on this map or the other one I used before it, that being said, great map. I use it all the time, I'm actually going to start adding some more loot spots i've found, as I think there are just a few you've missed that I've spotted randomly.

So when can we expect the new map? :)

Some hardware problems along with a absurd notion from sellers to not recognize my internet fame credits as legal tenders to replace the above hardware have forced me to halt the work.

I am not able to edit the file untill i gathered the nececary funds to buy some new RAM.

Will take some time but by cutting down on unnececary stuff like beans (need to lose some weight anyway) it should only take a month or so.

Sorry for the wait but have no choice in the matter.

Cool beans! This is a great map I really do appreciate it Maxander. Printed out some areas, but I use a laptop beside my pc just for the map.
