Is this game officialy dead ?

Definately true, there were soo many people still playing and at the same time complaining about its malfunction, this was the peak time I saw this game played the most, when everyone almost, was complaining but playing onward, when lada's would randomly shoot hundreds of meters upwards if you so much as tapped it with your foot...  then watching where it was going to land so as to make sure you were not near it, ahh the DayZ days..

Honestly, why are you still here then?  If Bohemia are not giving you feedback what' your take on the game? Are you finally coming around to realising what most of us figured out 3 years ago that this is a trainwreck of a game? 

I guess I'm mainly here because the forums are sort of my 'home on the internet'. I've never used facebook or twatter or whatnot, so this is where I socialise digitally. There might also be some nostalgia involved.

As for contact with the devs, I don't really have any. I can give feedback on the forums like anybody else. Which I do, occasionally.

I'm not sure I qualify for the 'fanboy' label though as, from closed testing till today, I have only amassed an astonishing 200 hours in DayzSA. I don't consider the game a 'trainwreck', but I'm not sufficiently involved to get agitated anyway.

Its quit impressing to have 6936+ on the forum and to only have played 200 hours of the game. Holy ****. 

(Im on 7000 hours, both accounts totaled).

but the developers never answer? all very nice this update but .... I see CHILDREN happy for the new car and weapons (which are a copy of the mod) in fact these send ahead the modders and then copy XD. said this but the whole survival part? has become a pub-like game. born in the airport you shoot yourself end. that is, it had a thousand features in the 0.55 0.57 versions as fractures. To fix the car you needed a thousand objects, etc., while now? nothing of all things. the food is infinite, zero fractures, the disease just makes you vomit but it makes you laugh, when it rained you ruined your clothes now? tifai the shower ahhahah that is, it has become an arcade game of the world war where there is nothing to survive. Is it possible that all these kids have drifted this game? they see a car and get wet, I guess for helicopters ...at the beginning you promised so many things but we are in the middle of the year and of all the past things that you have taken away and the new ones (you see movements, there are not any pg left over). Should I expect the game to continue on this path? ie an easy game without survival mechanics? sorry for my bad english

You should take a look at this video first, it will help you to understand a lot of things 🙂

Hum.... ? What mod ? DayZ mod ? You are saying they took the 3d models of the guns from arma 2 dayz mod to dayz standalone ? Well no they have a team who create new objects everyday like wheels, mags, guns, hats... Like any company ^^
And if you mean they are recreating only the guns and cars that were in the mod... Well yes and no... Yes because they are not going to put WW1 guns in a country with mostly Eastern guns and Eastern vehicles. And no because they are adding more civilian weapons like the shotguns, the flaregun or the bow and crossbow.

Why do we have less content than in Alpha ?

The team had to create a new Engine "Enfusion" because the old one was not able to deliver the final product. But all the work from the old engine could not be imported to the new engine (3d models, sounds and the map were the only thing they could save). So they've created once again the vehicles physics, the player controler, the melee system and much, much more.

This is why we don't have bows, grenades or paints for example ! Because they need to redo everything from scratch and they want to do it right. As a example we could have seen the melee system with guns ingame since November but we didnt.... Why ? It was not perfect and now, in the next patch (1.03) this feature will be live for everyone.

The physics for the grenades or the dead bodies was bad and you know it. They need time if they want something that feels good 😉

Okey but the guns ?

They have to work once again on the animations and the new features that gun could need. Like the flaregun, it's very unique and I don't think we will see this one soon because of that. Maybe they also want new and better sounds effects as well.

So why we don't have a "Gun Update"

You want 8 new guns or game changer features ? 😉

Why almost nothing changed since release ?

A lot changed and I mean it. But in short, they had to redo a lot of stuff like the clouds, inventory or quickbar... This long road was the only way to go on and now we are at the end of this boring road. We can now see in the distance the beach with the girls and the bar !
1.01 and 1.02 were boring updates because they tweaked a lot of content.
1.03 add a lot of new content and tweak the last missing bits

 

TL:DR

Don't worry, they are working on the game ! They don't have the time to write novels, they are making a game 😉

I thank you for the answer. unfortunately the video does not help me because I understand something written but in spoken English is Arabic for me ahahah. were it for me the weapons would suffice. the same for cars .. I just want a more hardcore game in survival. little food, deadly diseases, atmospheric agents that really affect everything here. but I wonder one thing. is it possible that in 2019 they didn't think of a dynamic weather with snow ?? or put certain snowy areas? that is, it would benefit the game. there would be heavier clothes to use. as well as contaminated areas ..

About the snow, no DayZ is not (as I know) planned to features snow or even seasons. But back in december we had snow instead of rain and some content related to the 24th 🙂
But if you like snow and winter you should take a look at this video 😉

contaminated areas is a planned feature and all the survival content such as loot, diseases and infected can be tweaked by the devs. And by the way, the loot can be tweaked by anyone, not only the dayz team but me and you as well 🙂

I agree with some things MatteoM wrote in his post. This was announced to be a survival game but atm it's more a senseless PVP-Shooter because that's the only really risk to die from.

The game is in "released" but the most important mechanics for a survival game are not implemented. But in the Forums cars and helicopters seem to be more important than the lack of survival.

And I can't help but think that maybe many players just want another deathmatch shooter and the survival part is annoying for them. Nothing to blame them. But the game going this way disappoints me (because I hoped the game goes another way).

FINALLY one who thinks like me! on steam they are all attacking me without arguing. you can't defend a game with your eyes closed. as I said on steam it is as if rfactor and assetto corsa after 6 years had nothing simulative but they were like need for speed. here the game was born as a survival and to a certain extent had a hint of it all. then it disappeared (as on then they explained to me) but I always see everyone excited about cars and weapons while we are in 2 or 3 asking for the survival part ..

Hicks to me stalled the game and pissed off a lot of people - he then left without fulfilling much of his vision.

Well this is a turn of events, is it that bad of state? i thought it would have been released into Alpha by now, and beta where they work on the bugs.

So desync still a major concern?

Damn i stopped playing but still had hopes it might actually look like Dying Light... which still is fun.

To think all that money that was made, and it still isnt done.

I'm honestly not sure what you're referring to when you say food is infinite. In my experience over the last 20 hours of gameplay, the food spawn is NOTHING compared to what it was in previous builds. I've hit large residential areas and grocery stores that appeared to be unlooted, and some on reset, and only managed to find two jars of strawberry jam across about 3 different major towns.

I'm fine with this, as the hunger meter has been drastically changed from previous versions (thank God) to be where you don't starve in half an hour.

Last time my character was hungry, it was in 2018 and this was when I returned to play dayZ after a long break.

Unfortunately, the only skill you need today to "survive" dayZ is to aim right.

 

A "food can" should be something so rare that one would kill for it, vegetables and fruit should be found in the wild in abundance.

I'm a huge fan of this personally. A large portion of this community from the get-go were adamantly against this game becoming The Forest. I appreciate that it doesnt take you half an hour to starve in this game. 

You know what's fun? Playing the game and enjoying the survival elements with friends and constantly being on the lookout for potential dangers.

You know what isnt fun? Running around for 2 hours to do nothing more than loot in order to keep your character just above the brink of starvation.

As a serious past critic of the direction this game has taken, this is probably my favorite thing they have done. I get to enjoy the game, while still keeping an eye on my food meter to make sure it doesnt dip too low.

What I meant was that you should work for your food, store it, trade it and appreciate it, instead of finding it everywhere just to maintain your food meter.

I'm not saying that it's easy to live solely off of fruit and mushrooms (with all that running from tree to tree), but it's definitely doable. I think those two sources of food were removed altogether from DUG servers for exactly that reason. Add an occasional chicken (a kind of food which actively tries to attract you from a distance) and your belly is full in no time.
