Holy macaroni

Did you guys see that other game that used to be in game preview, the one with battle royale... Did you guys see the update today?

TDM and privately created servers with all kinds of settings, a snow map AND new weapons together with a lot of bug fixes and graphic/rendering issues. A big bonus is option to choose graphics OR fps.

I hope we get to see private created servers, a TDM mode, snow AND more weapons in our favourite zombie survival game real soon.

Come on BI, cater to the masses! The more the merrier.

I think the idea to blend games sounds good, though ends up causing the original game to lose it’s identity.

Dayz has always had (and has) a very special appeal.

Something different from all the mindless kill kill, respawn, “what now...? Oh yeah..” kill kill.

Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy PUBG. However, it should continue to do its own thing, while DayZ does theirs.

That’s not to say certain modes or features couldn’t be added to private servers (custom games?), though it shouldn’t detract from its original mode.

That's my point.

It's still the same thing, but with added features to get a broader player base.

If you don't like tdm or training mode, you never have to enter it. You can continue playing the original thing without ever set foot on the other features.

I wish the same with Dayz. We don't get mods, so we are limited to the vanilla game (except for patched features).

And dayz is a very niched game with a steep learning curve. To broaden the playerbase and increase sale the team must add more content that appeal to a broader audience.

As a fan of a product, you should never be selfish or against change and added features.

I got a prime example: back when uncharted was released for ps3 (2007) i went to the official forums and praised the game but started a thread about how much more fun it would be if it had multiplayer. I got so much shit from the community and that thread was 15 pages long about how stupid i was and that the devs would never do it and that the single player would take damaged on quality if they split the team to have focus on multiplayer.

....... Along came uncharted 2...and 3.

So, it is never a bad idea to add content that might seem far off (to the small hardcore fanbase) but could possibly boost sales and attract thousands of new players, just as long as the base game and its foundation is still there

I for one would love some team deathmatch with 5 teams of 5 in each, or 30 vs 30 with a.i zombies on cut off places around the map. Would i love it more than the base game and its exploration and encounters with random players or 2 hour hikes to grab gear? I doubt it. Still.... variation and options is needed.

No one is stopping you from buying a PC.  DayZ wasn't developed as an Xbox game and then ported over to PC.  BI has always just done what they wanted to do.  Catering to the masses has never been the modus operandi.

Also. worst thread title ever.

<duh> ???
Yes - it's a niche game for specialist minority players.  That's cool.
No - as a fan of a product you are ALWAYS totally selfish, that's why you are a fan, because YOU like the game. You are NOT EVER a fan because someone else who does not play does NOT like the game.   Your argument is  ... WEAK ...

If you want to add "more content to appeal to a broader audience", just turn DayZ  into an easy-play Adult Sex version of Pokemon with PvP, that will pull in the crowds
.. <uh>  maybe.
OR leave DayZ the way it is, a SPECIAL game with minority appeal and a steep learning curve <OMG!> , and meanwhile work on  a spinoff for the short time fun players - as BI is doing right now.

Yes, clearly I was upset.  Also, you're welcome.

Well to me if a game literally gives you a headache is enough itself. When I first launched dayz after playing pubg I fell in love. So smooth. Maybe not so much lately but it was at some point and I believe it still can be. Game performance (fps, rendering) is and will be the most important thing to me as a gamer. Only thing I can hope they come up with a solution quick enough. For the first time I quit dayz yesterday after an hour. Wanted some pvp action, went to elektro for a fight, frames dropped to 10, unplayable. Didn't want to go inland to have a better fps just to find a fight in 6 hours if lucky. Can't build a base obviously. It's going to be a time out for me soon, sad.

A few of my friends and I left pubg to try this, while we love this game.....it has been a frustrating experience. One guy is gone after dying twice to zombies because he locked up , I have spent hours collecting gear, getting a car running to die to lag spike and crashing vehicle. Like fix the game performance first, don’t care about new items at this point if I can’t reliably get from point A to point to B. Trash pubg all you want it runs smooth at least and cost me 22$, I paid 40$ for this and am pissed off! Tone down the graphics and get rid of the wind it kills my frames, big cities I can’t even play in, FPS drops way to far.

I used to play pubg and pubg only. I got used to it. So much that I didn't care of the bad performance/input lag. After playing a game that actually works and going back to pubg is when I realized how big of a mess it still is and I highly doubt they will EVER see the frames dayz occasionally has. This game is just beautiful when everything clicks. Have not lost the hope since I've seen what it could be!

On PC it is riddled with cheaters. On Xbox there is virtually very little cheating going on. I was more pointing to frame drops, and hit registration. PUBG is miles ahead of DayZ in that regards. Could you imagine if anti cheating measures were taken on DayZ. The numbers of kicked players would be massive with all the duping and floating torso's about.

DayZ has BattleEye too -  the 1,500,000 bans on PUBG are ONLY BattleEye cheat bans. The same anti-cheating measures ARE employed on DayZ.
I have no idea what other bad stuff happens on PUBG that cheaters get away with.

for frame drops and hit registration - there are threads on those exact performance topics. This thread is a rant about making DayZ more popular by making it simpler.
The theme - for what it's worth - is that most Xbox players can't stand complexity, so they don't like DayZ.  The thread starter says : Make the game dumber, you will get more Xbox players.

I got sidetracked by a comment praising DayZ for having over all better performance than PUBG and that to me is just not the case. You are right that this is not the correct thread to post this opinion.I agree with you though. Most Xbox players want this game dumbed down which is sad. I'd like to see the complexity go even deeper and see some serious performance issues worked on and I will be a happy camper.
