DayZ tool to place objects/buildings on server?

Recommended Posts

So Dayz tools come out to the public, how can you edit the map using these? very simply i would like to load something that opens the Dayz map and allows me to place objects/buildings into the game world, is that currently possible?

If it is possible, could someone here knock themselves out and actually explain how? rather than just replying "Yes" please.

Thank you

I have read some comments in the Dayz Discord for modders. Its seems over my head. I guess the tools are not very straight forward. You have to mount a drive and set the settings.c or something to the folder and the tools will open. Like I said, over my head and not ready to die into it until I get a tutorial.

My understanding is you can't use bulldozer/terrainbuilder to modify Chernarus (place objects/buildings etc) as it's binarized? You would need to use a script for that. You could use those tools to do this if you are creating your own terrain however.

These code snippets might help you get started with scripting in buildings, I believe they are added into your init.c of your mission.

Builder is a mod that allows server owners to have a much wider range of options when placing details on the map.
Currently, Builder gives about ~1000 props, walls, roads, map objects, etc etc proper class configurations so that owners may use them as decoration or design of their map.

Builder requires server and client side mod which kind of puts me off a little as many players would just move on to another server. The community offline editor is my go to tool at the moment shame builder can't run the same way
