Stress Test vol.31

The Stress Test #31 has started. We are aiming to resolve some issues regarding security, inventory swap and the queue.

No crashes in maybe 3 hours of play. On a rainy but mostly low pop server there were some general performance issues including small freezes and delays.

Hands to inventory management is still delayed.

Inventory of infected is delayed in updating when viewed in vicinity.

A fresh un-looted Elektro had plenty of supplies.

I found all of this within 5 minutes of spawning. (*Farmer infected seem to have the best chance to drop food and drink.)

Myron is a lucky duck, except in the mag department. He's got a lot of food, some decent clothing, and a trusty hatchet. Maybe some military location in the North might yield a better firearm...

Had a CTD when I used the quickbar to take a Makarov to hand. Reported.

I've had one random crash when I was just running around looking for loot. Behaved like a typical bad module crash in 0.62 but had no error message. Reported.

The swe 2:1 server has some issue with Battleye, it seems to kick anyone who logs in, so it is constantly on low population while swe 2:2 has high. That one on the other hand had some desync issues, infected moved erratically, sometimes in slow motion.

Other than that it is very smooth, can't wait for some content patches now!

Oh, please for the love of the Great Below, revert the name changes to the weapons! They're absurd, silly and don't make any sense. For real. If there's copyright issues then solve those please, we can't have 'A-KM':s and '4-five':s in the game, gives a very unprofessional impression.

Noticed a new (?) inventory bug too. I picked up an AKM without mag and later found a mag. Picked it up with F as usual, but when I opened the inventory to fill it with ammo and put it in the AK it was already attached to the AK. this had happened by itself, and I don't know if that's intended or not. However this also meant the mag was stuck in the AK - no matter what I did I could not get the mag out of the AK to fill it with more ammo. Also the AK was displayed on the character as if it had no mag attached, and the rifle would not work. I could cycle the mechanism with R to remove bullets but the weapon just wouldn't discharge - until I had removed all 12 bullets and chambered the AK manually.

Later on the same thing happened to a Makarov, only this time it was even more weird:

I had found an empty Makarov some time back when I found another one with a mag attached containing six bullets. I picked this up and opened my inventory to throw away the old pistol - and noticed its "inventory" showing an attached clip, also with six bullets. This clip could not be removed from the pistol, and the pistol would not leave my hands until I used the quickbar to swap it for my axe. After that I could put it on the ground. I did not think of trying to cycle ammo out of it with R. Clearly whatever "auto-attach" thing that put the AK mag in the AK did the same with the Makarov even though it was already attached to another pistol. (The second Makarov was still okay though, working perfectly.)

Anyway this was reported to the feedback tracker. Has anyone else come across this bug?

Yes, I've had it once with the makarov and twice with the UMP.  It happens the same way you described, picking up a mag which automatically goes into the gun.  It pretty much breaks the gun.  The gun displays the mag loaded and attached to the gun in the inventory screen, but it doesn't appear that way in your hands.  It won't fire (click-click-click) nor can you remove the mag after that happens, at least I haven't found a way to remove it.  Ejecting the chambered rounds seems to empty the mag one round at a time, and the bullets go into inventory, but even when empty you still can't swap out the mag even with a new mag in the hotbar.  I've tried logging out/logging in with the gun in my inventory, with the gun on the ground and with the gun in my hands.  I thought it might be something with my character but a few days ago while playing with @starvingart I gave him a glitched makarov and he couldn't do anything with it either.   I'll try to reproduce it and see if the "mag goes automatically into an empty gun" breaks it every time.

edit:  I found a fresh spawned scorpion with no mag and picked it up.   A bit later found a cz mag with 10 rounds.  Grabbed the mag with F and it automatically attached to the gun. It worked fine and fired properly.  The mag removed and attached properly also.   Maybe it's only certain guns?  I'll try it with a makarov or an ump again ... when I eventually find them.

Looks like my steam pulled down a small update for stress test branch but I see no mention of an update on Twitter or here on the forum....

On his way North, Myron found a Chernarussian restaurant that had a unique approach to "farm to table".

Later he stumbled around in the dark until he met a friend who could help him navigate and eventually he got a UMP!

No crashes in 3+ hours play today.

I did experience the bug mentioned above where a magazine goes directly into the gun on your back and disappears into an alternate dimension where you can see it in the gun, cycle the ammo out, but not reload or remove the magazine rendering the gun useless. I made this happen to 2 Scorpions.

I tested this morning and can confirm it is possible to circumvent this bug, by opening the inventory and dragging the magazine into an open bag slot instead of picking it up with F.

I could combine the mag with the rifle normally after that.

Drinking meter goes to red ridiculously fast. Drink few cans, sprint few times and you need to drink again. Sprintmeter + drinking all the time. It's just anoying at the moment and needs tweaking.

There are so many threads about this where it is explained, but here it is:

Do not stop drinking when the meter turns white! When the icon goes white all it means is you're just barely out of danger. Have you noticed the arrows above or below the icon indicating resources are being gained (upwards) or drained (downwards)?

You have to keep drinking (and eating for that matter) until the upwards arrows stop showing up!

That is when you are fully hydrated, not before. Once there you can run for up to an hour without needing to drink again. Of course it depends on how much you sprint, sprinting drains resources twice as fast as jogging so if you sprint a lot you need to drink a lot. Makes sense right?

In general it is a very bad idea to sprint when you are low on resources, only sprint if you really have to. Otherwise stick to jogging until you've found a well or pond where you can drink until fully hydrated.

Damn it's rainy at stress server SWE 2-1. It's been raining all weekend. Then again it's kinda soothing to play as you can only hear the rain and your own footsteps. Have not seen any other player and i've shot zeds. Heard some shoothig few times. No crashes, no connection lost, no problems what so ever.

Found a greathelm in a hunting stand a couple of hours ago. Equally surprised by the helm spawning in 0.63 at all as by its spawning far from any castle ruin...
