First Aid Kit storage capacity

Recommended Posts

So I understand that from 0.57 medical kit got its capacity reduced to 4 slots (2x2).

Previously I would look to obtain one because it allowed me to carry more medical stuff. But now I feel its kinda pointless to have.

Should it be returned to store medical items only and have capacity of 6 slots (3x2) like it used to do or are people fine with it the way it is?

I would like to see it have two free slots for IV start kits, blood bags, or blood test kits, as these items are flat.  Beyond that, getting rid of Tardis containers is a good thing, IMO.

I remember looting one guy I had shot. He had so many nested containers in one protector case that when I put them on the ground to check their contents (which you had to do in those dark days) some of them popped up fifty metres away. Matryoshka containers unwelcome, especially when they don't get smaller!

I would like to see them go back to six. I now just keep my medicals supplies loose in my backpack.

It takes 2 x 2 in your inventory so why would it have internal capacity of 3 x 2 ? What is this ? Magic ?

Because its an item specialised to hold certain type of supplies. Also, depending on how you view it, there is no point in having it around.

The only "use" I can see for first aid kit right now is to keep your inventory tidy.

The only use I can see for Small Protector Case is to let enemies have some "undamaged" items after they shot and killed you.

I agree the small case could allow for more slots, to combine objects inside it. It should be 2 slots bigger to give us the iv bag. We collect enough bandages to stay alive now, allow us to use the bag instead of throwing it away.

I would even go as far as giving us a special slot on the character. It attaches to the backpack (Certain ones) as an extra bag. Only medical items can fit in those slots.

We should also be able to hotkey certain items to the bar, without losing the hotkey items. Such as bandages being hotkey on #9 slot and after logging off the game, it holds its position.

Why the INI file hasn't recorded these slots by now, must be a bug, or not implemented feature.

I don't think you get it. 2 x 2 first aid kit having 2 x 3 storage capacity allows you to store a another first aid kit inside while having 2 extra slots. That's why it doesn't. Not to mention the laws of physics in this universe.

Then it simply must be forbidden.

There must be a programming mechanism that makes it impossible to nest a container into a container of the same type or size. As an example: a medication can not be put into a pan or protector case. So a kind of mechanics that says that a container can only be stacked in a container if this has the double size. Or the content is not suitable for its own space consumption. (Medikit store consumption: 2x2 . medikit storage location: 1x2 + 4x1)

Like a tetris L-shape ^^

I'd see no problem with a 4-slot FA kit giving 6 slots, which would reflect more optimized packaging. It's the matrioshka feature which should be strictly forbidden.

The main problem, we have virtually no medical system to speak of. As a lone wolf who avoids PVP, 6 rags is literally the only med thing I carry. Morphine is worth carrying when you enter mil sites, the rest is either useless or extremely situational (i.e. not worth carrying). Funny how those vitamins and vials have spammed the loot board since forever.

It would be cool if we could mount these medical containers on our belts and thus not only avoid them taking inventory space, but have the medkit show up on our avatars so people might be able to identify a potential medic at a distance.

No it will simply have the same capacity and size. Realism that's what we will have.

No, it must be fixed so containers cant be put inside other containers and first aid kit must have 6 slots.

No, you must manage your space not have two extra magic slots.

No, I've had enough of playing tetris with my own inventory. Having 2 extra medical slots for first aid kit will make it a useful item again.

I'd actually rather have and item be without capabilities worth using it for than have the devs make it useful whilst having it be unimmersive and irritating for the sake of it being useful.

Stuff like only being able to put medical items into a medkit always felt unimmersively limiting to me, and I don't see why things would shrink in size when they were put into a container meant for holding them.

Ofcourse the medkit having small pockets that are intended hold iv-bags would justify them being able to hold a few extra, but then you should also be able to fit a few sheets pieces of paper into one of those pockets, Jeans should then also be able to hold an extra amount of flat items, considering how flat their pockets are.

I wonder if the devs will touch up on this in the future

If it doesn't hold more than normal storage, its just wasted server resources.

Generally you can store more things in a container if you carefully arrange them vs just dumping stuff in.  Using the med bag can been as a stand-in for intelligent packaging, as far as realism goes.

That's not good enough reason to add magic containers to the game.

Books take up 1 inventory slot, contain several sheets of paper.

One piece of paper takes up 1 inventory slot.

Magic is already in the game and the name is POCKETS. Do you have problem with magic pockets?

med kits will have their use later in the build like yellow protector cases have now.

it will keep you rags clean and dry.

its not for storage place its for safety usage of meds.

sometime ago on dev said, if you take items from dead bodies or infected without using desinfected spray you will get ill and die.

there are many items in now that noone cares about it, but it will be usefull later (vitamin pills and other stuff)

I was looking at it again last night, and it is true we need the ability to place in iv bag 1x2 or whatever size it is at the end. It only fits this type of bag. The rest can be single combines.

Whoever wins, i want to be on the side with the bigger fist :)

But you can't store 2 slot items inside of a book can you ?

A slot-based inventory will also generate seeming absurds like 1 sheet=1 book, but it's this simplicity which makes it better than the weight-based inventory. Just imagine arranging you gear before very action when each piece of ammo takes 0.005kg and you can take 18.75kg which drops to 16.45kg if non-energized... I know slots have unimmersive drawbacks, but it's still a lesser evil.

As we are condemned to one or another gaming choice, I say I'm fine with extra slots which represent smart packing. Otherwise, there's no need for containers, period.
