Short clip from testing today

Hey guys, I know everyone is just as (if not more) frustrated waiting for the next dev build to be pushed to Steam (experimental branch in this case). We're all still cracking away at getting a build ready, but while testing with the QA team today I grabbed a few short snippits I thought you guys might enjoy.

And before anyone calls me a bandit.. The QA testers were specifically looking to hunt me down, so I was justified.

Thanks so much this was such an awesome clip. I'm getting more and more enthusiastic about 0.61 as a whole. A real game changer.

Good question. 

There are some differences in how Arma 3 and DayZ handle surfaces inside/outside structures, that said we have most definitely been talking internally about this exact point. 
Once the new audio technology was at a state in which Andrej, our Sound Designer was able to start cracking away at it - the topic quickly came up in meetings. Andrej, and Lubos our Art Director are both fairly confident that we can set DayZ up properly for this - however, I don't have a specific milestone for you in regards to when.

I'd love to see more of these kinds of video. Just little snippets that you've been working on - maybe you record some new AI behaviour while testing and upload a 30-second clip or something.

Somebody brought up how audio will reverberate inside of buildings and so on, but I'm wondering if objects, such as buildings, will block sound? For example, will we be able to hear footsteps inside a building when we are outside of it? If we are in an underground area (like that little bunker thing in Tisy) will we be able to hear sounds outside as though they are right next to us, or will they be muffled - or even completely silent? 

Oh, and on that subject, will voice comms be affected by the new audio tech? As I understand it, the audio quality for voices is pretty bad even if you're using a good mic - is this something that will be addressed?

If it's night, the video will pretty much be completely black unless you do some editing (but that'll make it look like shit). It also happens if it's daytime, it's just slightly brighter than nighttime. It only happens in fullscreen, not windowed borderless.

Im uncertain why this issue appears to be present in this specific tool, as I do not have it in fraps, or OBS Studio.

However, if it is in the feedback tracker - it is certainly getting looked at.

Ah OK - Since 0.60 shadowplay records very dark, like it is ignoring your brightness and gamma settings or something (unless you fiddle around changing resolution to something else then back again).. It's on the tracker: https://feedback.bistudio.com/T117992

Brian, what will be the situation of the footsteps with the new audio engine? 

I tried to find any info regarding this small thing and haven´t managed to find anything about it!

Will be sneaky movement possible with the new engine? Because right now it´s unreal how one can hear a guy crawling  5-10m away lol
