Anyone else miss the NEAF?

Recommended Posts

I'm at 1200 hours, and I've travelled all over the map. While I really enjoy the NWAF and myshkino tents, I really miss the days of pvp at the NEAF. Does anyone else feel this way? I know it was better to promote player movement out west, but I feel the airfield and surrounding towns (krasnostav, cernaya) are most desolate since the airfield was demilitarized. I would like to see the airfield make a return to military grade loot, maybe similar to the loot attainable at the stary tents or even balota. Any thoughts?

People complained that it was too close to spawn locations, which was kind of narrow minded. The most fun I've ever had playing DayZ were the battles for the military jails in northeast airfield.

Killing people who hid under the hangars was fun, too.

I had heard that too, but if you spawn in cherno you are a five minute walk to balota. I think the de team could find a happy medium by limiting weapon spawns to tier 2 weapons (magnum, shotguns, certain bolt actions)

Was thinking that myself recently. Took a stroll through the desert that is the current NE airstrip, thinking where is everybody. They definitely succeded in getting people to move West that's for sure...

no reminded me of a basic shooter respawn run less than 5 min back to NEAF get into fight again. got really boring really fast IMO. It had its time and place though we had what 3 guns at the time and everyone wore TTSKO stuff and i assume they got a lot of combat data. and as rick said under the hangers shot a lot of asshats that hid under there i remember if you got by the radio tower they would render in and the hanger wouldn't and you could snipe them. and folks say nothing has been done to this game shesh.

No I don't. It's pretty big so I don't understand how you could miss it.

:P Lame joke, I know.

Me too , all they have to do it put loot back at the ruined tanks trucks jeeps and hummvee's and it would be jammed packed with people again. Was a nice place to run to and try to get an sks.

I LOVE how the same people crying it's to close to a Spawn location and that you can gear up to quick are the same people that are SCREAMING for bicycles , where you can traverse the map in under 10 minutes.. It's just unreal..

No, I don't miss it at all. If you ask me, there are still way too many military locations in Chernarus+.
Instead, there should be more unique locations and buildings, which were suggested from the users many times before, like carnival, mall, go-cart track, tennis court, car dealership, shipyard, specialist shops...and much more.
But after I watched the video of Chris Torchia's presentation, I don't think we will get much more individual buildings. Sadly, it takes too much time - I'm still hoping that I'm wrong and they have some surprises for us.

It may become a PvP spot soon for people cars and trucks because Brian hicks said in twitch con that it will become a spot were air craft parts will spawn think of it as a place were people will get supplies and leave. I do miss the action there ended in .57 glad I got one last kill there in .57 in krasnostav easy fun guy called me a dick got what he deserved. I'll he there a lot I just wanna get a chopper in electro and yell "get to the choppa".

To be honest I would prefer a bicycle over a damn helicopter and military vehicle any day. And its not because of traversing the map in any shorter amount of time its that its much easier to fix than most vehicles you will find on the market in the real world today. As long as your carrying the right bicycles tools and maybe a backup spare tire tube, mini bike pump, etc your good to go for many miles. And bicycles are the way to go for silent travel unlike a car or plane.

I just want to fix a BMP up. Plenty of them around and most of tools to fix the tracks are already in game. Crowbar, wrench and hammer. If the let us have choppers then a tracked vehicle with exteS around for spare parts should be in game as well

It is going to be the main place to find loot to repair the chopper as discussed on TwitchCon, so yeah - prepare your camping positions on Olsha hill.

Meh.  Never cared for the place and prefer the new air field.

I'm one of those narrow minded people that think high end military gear shouldn't be found that close to spawns.

I agree with you totally except for the fact that they are adding in both :( I wonder if they will have a little basket on the front for storage.

I liked NEAF, it would be nice to see them do something appropriate for what it is. It's near a few big cities, it could arguably be made into more of a civilian airport with loot to match, and maybe a hangar or two military style (like you often find at airports). To be honest I don't even do Krasno anymore even, and that's a decent town loot wise.

It's kind of nice being able to check NEAF out without getting one-sniped from Olsha mountain. Maybe not exactly in the spirit of the thread, but I like that it's a more civilian loot zone now.

I was there a couple of weeks ago - completely different now from the Mod where you'd get in the hills to the west and scope in to see if there were any zeds around. Had a few firefights in those woods (we set someone on fire lol - some bug with the code back then).

Of course, 90% of the buildings were closed and there weren't all these towns and guns were everywhere, as were stashes and tents. What people don't do is think when they come across the question about "end game loot"

In the mod, everyone had stashes and tents filled with guns and ammo and were fully geared as soon as they died pretty much. Once people have collected their stuff and hidden it, they won't be going NW they'll be going to their stashes so who cares where the guns are?

I never had the chance to miss NEAF. I had never heard of Arma nevermind DayZ before I was gifted a copy of the SA on Steam. Not sure when I joined exactly, but I remember the first time I seen NEAF there was an ATC and a couple of blue door warehousey looking type hangar things and that was about it. I always hear stories about how NEAF used to be awesome, but to me it's always been a kinda shitty desolate area and I think in my 1300hrs I've maybe ran into someone there like three times. Maybe one day it'll be worthwile going there again, but for now all I use it for is a reference point when I'm heading East to West.
