Let's talk performance.

Recommended Posts

Let's assume I buy a new computer tomorrow. It'll probably be around $1.700.

Now let's talk about DayZ at launch. That's in a few years. By that time my PC won't be the newest thing out there, but in my opinion it'll be reasonable.

Will DayZ ever run at 60+ FPS anywhere, even in cities? With no desync either.

Nobody can really answer that question. You could buy a graphics card now which is the best you can get for your money and when DayZ is released, although it has enough power, it could be incompatible.

ARMA3 runs at a fairly stable FPS for me on my 4.5ghz 2500k and r9 270, so it's not impossible on RV family engines however I suspect that there will always be times in DayZ where server side will restrict FPS to below what most people would consider ideal.

1,700 for a new pc? get real dude, unless you plan on buying some dual xeon rig, a new pc is not going to cost you $1700! especially if you know how to build your own. you guys are so damn worried about performance but no one take to their config files to edit the settings. why do people come in to the pc gaming world and just think that buying a new pc will solve issues? Im running this game on a rig thats not even worth $300 and I get 20-30fps everwhere with a gt series nvidia... take some time to learn before you come play in our world. Im sick of seeing little console gamers try to win by just buying the latest thing out. learn how to set up your card, which drivers work best, what config settings you need, and how to have your pc set up. 60+ fps is not even needed for a game to look good. people saying that you wont even be able to run the game when it comes out are also foolish. if you can run the game NOW you will most deff be able to run it when it comes out. right now its in shit turd mode that is why you get crap fps, when it comes out it will be a polished turd and will most likely run smoothly 30-50fps on most mid grade pc's

for those in doubt

Q6600 @ 3.2ghz

10krpm hdd

4gb ddr2 ram

2gb asus gt640

20-30fps

Valid points, but dude! I think that you need to throttle back on the caffeine a bit.

Also, I suspect that there may be more than a handful of us that enjoy the game a lot more, when it runs at a wee bit more than 20fps, 'cause it gets kinda choppy when it's down there.

To address the OP's question (hopefully) when we get to full release, I would expect that the game will be less demanding on the CPU, because the new engine, renderer and DX11/12 will allow to the devs to shift more of the workload onto the GPU. So, while some of us are getting away with six-year-old (or older) GPUs today, we may have to consider a bit of an upgrade if we want to see those high frame rates that we all love.

>posts price of PC not specs

if you buy an expensive computer expect it to be overpriced as hell.

remember to get the best CPU you can

the rest is irrelevant for arma

20-30fps

The price of $1.700 was a quick guess. But in reality it's only $1.400 for the computer I looked at, when translated into US dollars. Shit is expensive in Denmark.

But let me start to dismantle your pathetic rant.

1. I have done every single guide and config change you possibly can to boost the performance of DayZ.

2. I'm on a two year old PC, so buying a new one does into do a lot towards better performance.

3. "Take some time to learn before you come to play in our world".. I was probably in this world of PC gaming before you were born son.

4. I am a proud member of the PC Master Race. So please. I'd never even consider touching a console.

5. All I'm asking is if the game will be able to run at 60 FPS when it's released on a $1.700 machine.

Lmfao!!! Youve been in the pc gaming world so long that you only post a price of the computer you want but not specs. yea buddy, sure you have ;)  Any computer savy person knows that posting a price with out specs makes you look like a goober child. cant believe you just called me son, as i have two children probably older than you lol its alright to be butt hurt due to dayz not running good on your "2 year old computer" that you cant even post specs about... My guess is youve got tons of programs running in the background, sucking up all  your resources, your windows services arent even optimized and you running irrelavent services, your start up folder looks like a 12 year olds room, and youve got a highly fragmented hdd.

It is a CPU intensive game, hitting 60-80% usage over here but my gfx card is taking 95% usage, so id say its a computer intensive game. Try lowering your scene complexity, shadowZdistance, ObjectViewDistance, and ViewDistance.

Giving the price is enough for most people to get a general idea of how good the PC is. No need to post any specs.

And yet again. Saying a "two year old PC" is also a perfectly fine way to explain how good, or bad my current PC is, without having to bring up specific specs. Saving everyone time.

And you know absolutely nothing about me. If I have programs running in the background or not. Which I don't. Like I said. I have probably been gaming since before you were born.

Obviously you're an immature child, who rages and lower yourself to semi personal attacks and silly assumptions. So I will just ignore you. So me and the other people who are interested in a proper discussion can continue.

There are always people here who think they know it all.
But these children dont know NOTHING yet.

Answer to your question. When DayZ is compleet, full, done and running, Whe don't use PC's anymore.
Thats the time it will take before the game in completely finished.
We all have "googles" on our had and beans implanted in our brains. ;)

I play on a 5 year old PC and my framerate is 15 FPS in city's.
Thats fine by me. What goes arround, come's arround.

But i believe the devs will do everything in there power to make preformance the best that they can do.

Happy Hunting.

What is point of such powerful PSU and why did you pick 1600MHz memories? 2400MHz cl11 are just 10 bucks more expensive but significantly better.

but significantly better.

Show me a game where ram speed provides a significant increase in performance

The ram speed is up to the buyer, but it will not provide a noticeable increase. To the human eye, gaming will be exactly the same no matter the speed.

http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?166512-Arma-3-CPU-vs-RAM-performance-comparison-1600-2133-up-to-15-FPS-gain

Watch very closely this picture:

armastratisramtimmings_zpsd0398bf9.png

Compare 4.3GHz 2133 9-11-10-31 to 4.9GHz 1600MHz 9-9-9-24. Same fps but the other CPU is overclocked 0.6GHz more with lower MHz RAM. So do you prefer to spare $10 for better RAM sticks and run your CPU that 0.6GHz lower and maybe squeeze out even more fps?

If you're buying high end $1700 then you should have that $10 to buy much faster RAM. It's not a big difference

For example http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f32133c9d8gxl

The difference can be pretty big for a small thing.

Can you two just go ahead and have the world's shittiest rap battle? This is fucking pathetic.

I'm sure you both play PC games. Praise Gaben and all that.

In answer to the OP, such a discussion seems fruitless before the game hits at least beta. Fiddle around with .cfgs and such. In my case I disable shadows and antialiasing since they seem to have the biggest impact on performance (on my system). I've also lowered view distance. I get 20-35fps in cities (which is just about playable) and a solid 50-60 elsewhere - an improvement over around 20fps in cities and 40-odd elsewhere.

If you can tell the difference between 59 and 62 fps, then go ahead. But what I posted was a simple build suggestion. I never said "Buy this, nothing else"

My rule of thumb is if you're just gaming, 8gb DDR3-1600 will work just fine.

You have to post specs, you could get a $1700 computer and still have issues if the specs aren't right...

But it's only just a $10 difference in a $1700 build. If you're on a $600 budget then I can understand very well.

These two quotes seem very at odds with each other. I don't have any confidence that you know what you're talking about at all.

I don't know about you guys, but when I need some added performance I use Viagra over the other products on the market.
