Today I wanted to log in and he was gone....

I don't remember a beta that don't wipe all characters before game release

Well they did say they plan on doing server wipes anyways considering ppl can live with good gear for a long long time from previous patches.

If they do a global wipe it is a different thing!

I would be fine with that.

But loosing chars due to bugs is something different.

Yea, I know the feels and alpha or not it still hurts. Since it happened to a few friends and I (mine was several weeks old and had the most glorious M4, built using the remains of hackers/duppers), we developed a way to combat this character wipe bug. Treat it like you did the crash bug, when ever disconnecting from a server, close the game. Reopen and join your desired server. Rinse and repeat. I have yet to experience a wipe since implementing these steps. Hope that helps and good luck.

Its not the gear - our groups has three tents full of stuff and my MP5 (which is really hard to find) got ruined by a Zed (which almost killed me) yesterday anyway... Gear doesnt matter... it´s the char - he was an awesome lucker! :.(

There will be a problem if all servers are not wiped when the game is released...thanks to the dupers.

So watch your screen as your character comes on the server, if it says anything about a default character being loaded then Exit that server immediately, do not move or look around, just exit and try another server, preferably the one you were on before you logged out last.  If your old character does not appear at that point then yes, you have been wiped.
