Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)

Zombies disappear fast to help prevent server performance drop.

Ummmmmmm, then how in gods name can we hope for vehicles and helicopters?

 

Now I am fucking worried if this is why zombies are such an after thought at this point.

I don't like the fact zombies run faster then you as zombies have always been depicted as slow and mindless creatures. World War Z (The book, not the movie that was so much vomit) has said zombies were slow and attracted to noise. I don't mind zombies running so much as them not running faster then humans. Let's be real, dieing didn't make a rotting corpse move faster. It did however make them more resistant to damage because they're already dead and shots to the head are the only thing that could kill them. Granted that's a bit difficult but I still feel zombies shouldn't die to one M4 shot. They can already leap at you, so speed them up?

 

As for the detection zombies have, I feel zombie detection needs to be lowered from visual range. The one thing that always got me in Day-Z was that zombies HAD a sight range, and anything beyond that you could simply move around them. The hearing range was much more acute and they did come swarming to gunshots a lot more. So maybe lower visual range but increase sound traveling range? Not so much for footsteps but for gunshots and such. Footsteps are fine as is.

 

Damage: I believe zombie overall damage should be increased, this is a human being literally clubbing and clawing at you with no regard for its own safety. It is hammering you with its hands and nails, biting you, chewing you and acting like a wild animal. Zombies clubbing a person should do a LOT more damage then they are right now and I feel it should be 2-3 solid hits before you're knocked unconscious.

I hate to be the guy but its called Alpha mate, the game isnt optimized therefore they need to cut corners to make sure we can have a decently smooth experience. I mean the Dean and his team could have easily held the game back till it was perfectly ready and then released it. Also right now they are working on having a solid foundation to bulid the game upon, zombies are apart of this but if they focus so much on zombies then they stop making weapons and then everyone bitches about the lack of weapons. Honestly I'm impressed the Dayz team is being extremely humble and sayings its their fault for not communicating well.

It's an early alpha and everything that strains network performance is subject to massive amounts of optimization and complete recoding.

stop shooting them? I haven't had any trouble with extreme zombies with the fireaxe, although I'm also not gearing in an area where there are obviously going to large amounts of zeds, like elektro.

Yeah zombies dissapear straight away because the game isn't fully optimized , if the zombies were allowed to remain the server would crash within about 1 hour due to all those respawning bodies around

Hell, it would even be a way to deliberately crash servers and we don't need and more ways to troll people

Until they have optimized the game for performance you arnt going to see an permanent bodies or anything

You can kill 4-8 zombies easily without even getting hit, just roll around and hit them with firefighter axe.. Gosh. The difficulty should come from their numbers, not their speed or hackzor wall skillz(which isn't intended I know).

Hey fellow Gammers, and hopefuly my dear Devs.. 

These are the 2 things, in my opinion, should be fixed fast in this awsome game..

 

Zombies crossing walls, m8s thats sad, i would abide to that back in 95, but in 2014? Cmon, that was the worst thing ive seen in your game.. Even alfa version, simply no excuse for it, its ugly, its glichy, and its harder to kill the zombies inside the buildings, whit your axe hiting the walls and making noises that ressemble bullets?!....

how i think it should work: iam totaly aware that this would make the game heavy and probs my computer wont even run it, but, make zombies able to break doors, like, i close the door in 5 hits the zombie breaks it, also, make them climb the stairs, inside buildings. maybe slow, but able.. no matter how, i hope you fix this ASAP.

 

More zombies/zombie AI: thats another thing it should be improved ASAP, sometimes i find myself in a town whit 10 houses and 1 zombie girl, poor girl, so lonely, this is a zombie apocalipse Lads!

Dont take this as an insult, because your game is far better that this one ill mention, but take a look to Infestation survivor series in the zombie part, theres so many zombies that sometimes you cant even stealth them, zombies sleeping on the ground, zombies in the hills during night... Most important, make me scared to go citys, make me have a need to use my firegun (that would open the gates of hell to make evething worst), make me think its better to stick in the hills for a while longer b4 get my self into danger again. Another think i would like you make me have this felling: "ok, iam in Guglovo, next city down the road is Novy Sobor, thats the hell on heart, lets skip it.." 

 

I know you worried about the bambis, but because of the bambis after we get fully geared we have 2 options, go pvp and risk to lose everything again, what in my opinion, if i want to play a random shooter game it wont be dayz at all, or the other option, roam in a giant free world whit no need to grab stuff you see in the way..

Hello everyone,

 

I don't really believe this is much of a suggestion, because I'm quite certain you know what to do here, but anyway, this goes as a simple suggestion to fixing zombie pathfinding not working properly through walls (and a question aswell, as I'm not that sure if it would work, no experience whatsoever).

I'll be using this image I made as a sort of guide on my explanation (yes, I'm using Paint!)

 

What I feel is happening now in DayZ is that once zombies are chasing us, they simply travel the direct distance between them and the source of noise (aka player), ignoring any obstacle in between. This is my suggestion:

 

Make it so whenever an "invalid passage" (meant path, sorry for that one) is between a zed and the source of noise, and this invalid path is in a determined distance of the zed's field of view, the zed will start circling the building (view notes*) in search of a valid path, aka door, same applies to the inside of these buildings, where these invalid paths would prevent them from jumping off of rooftops.

 

Also, other sorts of invalid paths could be added, such as barricaded doors, where zombies would have to hit them in order to turn these paths valid, giving additional time for the players to scavenge buildings.

 

I know this is basic stuff, but I just don't see how this could have not been implemented yet, being this the reason to why I'm asking you if this would be a valid suggestion.

* Yes, I really meant circling. Instead of just finding the valid path and directly going on it's direction, it would be better if they just roamed around the building until a valid path would come on it's field of view. Zombies aren't supposed to be clever, plus, the act of roaming around before finding an entrance would help bandits locating a possible victim!

This does not align with the implementation of zombies in DayZ.  As it's been said a billion times before, they are not undead.  They are infected, living people.  It makes perfect sense that in the absence of subconscious inhibitors, they would be able to run faster, and jump higher.  I too would like to see zombies be a bit more resilient though.

Once in groups, zombies are actually a greater hazard to eachother, than they are to a survivor.

Just played the game for the first time today. was trying to be careful and what not but kept being suprised by zombies spawning out of nowere on top of me.. or following me through walls.. seems like buggy as heck xD

 

All I do is run from magicaly appearing zombies it seems..

they need to make these stupid zeds, that spawn 20 meters from you and wreck all your gear with one punch cause their shitty engine cant handle having 50+ zeds per city.

 

It's a consensus that we need MORE zombies, and not stronger zombies, as stronger zombies will just make the game more unplayable, as they ghost through walls and shit.

 

And obviously all the fanboys will say that they're just a placeholder. Well, i think we can call the entire game a fucking placeholder then, cant we? Cause there's broken shit everywhere.

 

 

they did the EXACTLY same thing on the mod's version 1.7.7.1, no matter how much zombies you killed, there would always be 2 more in its place, and would instantly aggro on you.

 

I wonder if they are importing zed's AI from the mod, seriously.

Currently YES the ai is slightly recoded mod code, yet they have a whole studio bought in slovakia that is helping the team work on the newly created zombies, who specialise in pathfinding

 

so you still believe blindly on their promises? Didnt they promise that there would be close to no hacking in standalone? didnt they promise that the alpha would end in the end of this year? do you really believe it will be beta in january 2015? cause i dont.

 

People like you are the ones that make scams like WarZ possible.

sorry but go play something else. as for warz being possible because of people like me. OOOOOOOOKKKKKKKK i clearly see your point when, i hate and would never play that game, plus it doesnt exist anymore (copyright infringement filed by the film) i suggest you go play that new game infestation... oh right i mean warz that i made happen. whatevs

yup it's happened to me and 4 friends i know. It's pretty annoying but i guess it keeps Zs dangerous. it could be due to not noticing ruined gear. I feel there should be some indicator on the paperdolls for that anyway regardless.

Just search the forums, its a bug and it actually happens alot. Also happend to me several times, but only when i was in buildings.

Funny you should say that, when i post things like this, im told dean said it has nothing to do with number of zombies, thats total bullshit. Even useless items such as books and spray cans take up space, imagine what will cars and helicopters with machine guns do? I have just come from playing 7 days to live. And at the moment the only thing in common with dayz is zombies , so thats the only thing i will comment on. There are countless threads on how dayz zombies are too easy, too slow, well 7DTD zombies are even slower and easier to kill, but their numbers greatly outnumber dayz zombies, and guess what, its impossible to storm a building when they start coming at you. They are much more of a threat than dayz zombies.

At the start i played single player mode and nearly died countless of times, due to hunger and thirst, even at easiest settings i had to remove speedy zombies at night to be able to survive.

In conclusion, dayz is much more realistic in the way food and hunger work, as well as terrain, but thats where it stops. 7DTD, is much more interesting to play, they have gone over the top with crafting, but im not complaining.

So to fix dayz issue with zombies, reduce their athetic abilities down a bit and add much more of them.
