720p, 30 frames per seconds, no anti-aliasing, draw distance is five meters in front of you... Why would the development team deal with the issues of peasantry? All you have to do, is sell all of your consoles including games (If you want, keep the PS2). Then you will have decent money to build yourself a decent rig that WILL run better than a console, if you know what components you're buying. I recommend checking out /r/pcmasterrace on Reddit for tutorials in rig building and what to buy. (Link on my sig if you're lazy)

In terms of games, you will save yourself A LOT of money due to sales in the distribution platform of your choosing (For great sales, get Steam, for good download speed, get Origin, although I have been told that the download speed shown on Origin is a blatant lie).

theres 10 year olds running round on the game already
as a console gamer before pc, I would love to see a console version, and don't think it would do any damage

i think next gen could run the final version of the game, but I do wonder about the map, with the only closest i have seen is gta5 and skyrim.  the only problem I see is that xbox 360 and ps3 only support 16 players, with the new consoles maybe supporting 32. which is considerably lower than 50 or even 150 as dean plans to be
I believe it will go to xbox one, since dean was impressed with what xbox pitched to him more so than playstation, then again it will probably go to both consoles

Games like this never translate well to console, sometimes it even puts a halt on all future sequels.

Case in point, Fallout.  When the series reached Fallout:Tactics after the original and it's sequel were released (was my entry point to the series back in 2001 and in my opinion the last great Fallout game), Interplay decided to release Brotherhood of Steel on the PS2 and Xbox and was such a steaming pile of shit, it damn near destroyed the franchise and any hope of a future sequel. It took 7 years for anyone to pick up the licence and do something with it because no company would touch it with a barge pole. The result, they turned it into an almost turn based first person shooter/rpg (a re-skinned Oblivion basically), a completely different game to the fondly remembered originals, that only just keeps the story intact so that they could keep the name Fallout and has become a multi-platform cash cow for Bethesda.

I fear that if DayZ ever gets released on a console, it will destroy the popular image it has on the PC and history will repeat itself.

The day a games console becomes good enough to run a game made famous on PC like DayZ, in a faithful and non "dumbed" down manner then I'll happily lead the console crowd in calling out for it to be ported over.

Until then if console gamers want to play a PC game on their overpriced BluRay players, then they should bite the bullet like I did (I've only had a truly gaming worthy PC for about 12 months, after my previous computer literally exploded and I had to sell my 360 to rebuild it) and either buy or get someone they know to build them a computer so they can play it. I decided to and I've never looked back.

I personally hope beyond hope that Dean sees sense and opts not to do it, if he decides to release on console and it flops then the reputation of the PC version will get marred by it. Idealistically that wouldn't happen but unfortunately this highly judgemental world we live in is far from ideal.

The only comparably sized game I can think of was MAG early on in the PS3's life. And that was pretty terrible to be fair.

I played the original fallout when it came out in the 90's and I've played all of the games except the ps2 one.

As a Fallout 'fanboy' I'd have to say I prefer the original and second the most, but Fallout 3 is an entirely better game than Fallout:Tactics.

Fallout 3 is a great game and I really don't see why so many fans dislike it.

Well...to take it waay back. The original OFP eventually got ported over to the original xbox.

I never played the port, but the videos I've seen actually look fairly decent considering the hardware of the time.

I am not too familiar with consoles atm - the last one i had was a PS2.

Could an Xbox handle a map the size of Chernarus, full of loot, players, zombies etc?

Haha, no.

It will happen eventually, that much I'm sure of. It's only a matter of time. They'd be potentially missing out on millions of dollars if they didn't.

That being said they won't even consider it until after the PC version is locked up. So I'd say maybe 2 years from now at the absolute earliest. More likely 3-4 years. Either way I'll buy both versions. :)

I've also played all of the Fallouts.

I literally broke the fallout:tactics disk in half and threw it in the trash. I spent the latter half of the game fighting with a power fist or some such (Melee weapon) but the end boss couldn't be reached by it and there was no way to go back to get another weapon.

this game will not make it to a console port.

my prediction.

also, a controller is very, very ineffective in this game and i use a controller for a lot of PC games.

bottom line, BI won't share profits with MS and vice-versa.

You PC Master Race people are really kind of assholes. When I build my first gaming PC this weekend I'm giving my wife explicit instructions on how to use my M9 to shoot me in the face if I somehow start posting white haired PCMR memes on Internets. I love my Xbox One and don't have any problems playing games.

PC master race for life! Fuck those wannabe Pc consoles. PS4 and Xbone are just low end PCs really. Those consoles are cheap, but they milk you with their monthly pay for xbox live and ps+. And consolegames are soooo expensive compared to PC. I just bought CS:GO for 3 euros. Try that consoles! I havent even started with graphics, fps, mouse and keyboard or customability

Who cares really? No really. Why do you fucking care? We have it on PC. If they port it in a couple years so fucking what? Are we really so insecure that we need to bash consoles and what they offer people who don't give a shit to build a gaming PC and work to keep it updated with drivers and hardware and porn?

Yeah but COD and GTA are nowhere near as complex and large as Chernarus - especially without loading screens or loading areas as you play. Is there a comparably sized game on Xbox atm?

Only ones i can think of are the Flashpoint series, mainly the first one, Dragon rising.

Red river was COD but harder.

Why so mad bro?

None is insecure about a console port. People just don't want time, effort and resources taken away from the pc game to develop a cut down poor rendition of a quality idea just to try and make some easy $$$ off of the console kiddies. That mentality is what has ruined the Battlefield series.

Id love a console port, but from my own personal experiences, the audience on consoles is far less mature and younger than PC, again personal experience and opinion. Putting a game on console like Dayz is a great idea but i feel like it will be played a completely different way to what us PC gamers do it, KOS would be a bigger problem, hacking quite possibly too. personal opinion here and id buy and play the game, i just wouldnt play it the same way i play on PC, not going to lie i tend to take my gear and what i have pretty seriosuly and tend not to mess around with it, but on console i just wouldnt care if the game was going to played like it on them. personal opinion so no hate  :)

If you think PC gamers are immature and obnoxious, just wait until a game like this hits Xbox live.

I have a 360 I still play to death, and my Ps3 has always just been a Blu ray player except for when big exclusives hit like Demon's Souls and The Last of Us, but Xbone really dropped the ball from the second it was announced and I look forward to getting a Ps4 when something releases that I really want.

But likw others have said, even next gen systems are like, what, a 30% power increase from last gen? Not the type of power you would need for a game of this magnitude, ASSUMING DayZ hits its max potential.

A 360 or ps3 no way in hell. the ps4 or xbone not sure if they game is at all buggy or crashes or has any issues then I don't think it would do well coming from console gaming those players are less forgiving when it comes to shitty software and bugs. not sayin PC is better but I guess there are more of us that can play games that sometimes run at 8 FPS. but I do hope one day this game runs like a top and it goes to atleast one of the consoles there are some friends I have who will not go PC and I would love for those folks to enjoy the game too.

This game is years away from ready to be on consoles - likely not this generation. If it is, it will be a different game entirely.

Dude this game on Xbox live..... I can already hear the screaming prepubescent teens. I've got three Xbox 360s in my house two of them in the kids rooms, both of them in their teens and all I can hear when they're playing CoD or FIFA is raging and screaming. it's like they turn into something else when playing on the damn things. Nice as pie they are and well behaved until they get on their Xboxes. My Xbox on the other hand only really gets used to stream stuff off the home server for the TV in the lounge using Windows Media Player. Probably the best feature of the XBox 360 imo.

Did you seriously just say "why so mad bro?" I'm so tired of the memes and cookie cutter responses. I'm mad because people are ignorant and entitled. I'm mad because god is dead. I'm mad because European football is way better than American football. I'm mad because my band only got a 7.7 on Pitchfork and I'm mad because my e-penis is two sizes too small for this forum.

I guaran-damn-tee that whenever this game gets ported to consoles it'll be A. When PC development is complete B. Ported by a company familiar with PC to console ports C. Make a shitload of money for BI D. Not effect PC gamers at all because they won't be shared servers

So let's all get over ourselves and talk about something that matters. Like KoS, hats, and wall hacks.
