If you wanna save money, you can run DayZ on potato by decreasing view distance.

You do that by going to Documents, DayZ, your username .dayzprofile and editing value of "sceneComplexity" to as low as you need to get smooth FPS even to 10000.

I am surprised at how little DayZ is optimized.  On my 3-year old high-end gaming laptop it runs quite sluggish although I use 800x450 resolution with medium graphic settings.  Some week ago I bought Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead and it runs smoothly at 1600x900, max graphic settings.  I know it's still an alpha, but come on.

You already own the game if I'm not mistaken - why not try?

Most certainly quicker than waiting for a reply.

Because the person im asking for is over 5000km from me, dont speak much english and they dont own the game yet, hence, the asking :D

Hello, ive upgraded my cpu and I have:

GeForce GTX 960 4gb

Intel Core i5-4460 3.20Ghz

8GB RAM

Im about to use my TV as a monitor so the resolution would be 1920x1080

What in game setting should i max out and what i should not use?

Because now when i set everytrhing to very high, rendering to 200% i dont run the game smooth. But i think its about the game optimalization.

So what options i should not use to get a smooth gameplay?

I dont want to change everything to low :P

Thanks for replies

No, that won't run DayZ very well and you definitely wouldn't be on high graphics settings.

"Gaming laptops" are a terrible idea. You could however build a desktop that will run DayZ well for the same amount of money.

I'd put an SSD in there, install your OS and DayZ on it, then get some aftermarket cooling and overclock your CPU. Aside from that your system is fine and further upgrades won't be worth the money that you'd pay for them.

Once we get towards the end of the development cycle and the game is better optimised you should notice a considerable improvement, but right now the game favours Intel CPUs with strong single-core performance heavily.

I have a similar setup except I have a SSD and a R9280X

Do a history log of your CPU and GPU during gameplay.

I'm almost convinced that that is not your issue causing lags.

I am hoping some people can help me out in determining whether or not i will be able to play Dayz smoothly or not with the hardware i have. I am not expecting to play at ultra settings and smooth or anything, if i have too i will play everything on lowest. But i want to be sure that i will actually be able to play the game smoothly and enjoy it with my hardware or not before i buy it and i am not able to play it. Canyourunit says my computer meets minimum requirements but not recommended requirements because of my CPU.

video card - GeForce GTX 750

CPU - AMD Athlon II X2 255 Processor

ram - 4GB
