  1. Of course it was going to happen, but they have been so coy about it. Not any more! RPS also has an article on the matter. Join me in the comments! What do you guys think? Is this the best thing that's ever going to happen? Personally I would rather have an exact copy of the tabletop game on my pc, even if it meant giving GW all my cash for extra helmet feathers for my puny elves, but I'll take this too. Oh, will I ever. No preorder though, not after Rome2. EDIT: I lied. I lied about the name, it's 'Total War: Warhammer'. Talk about a missed opportunity.

If you saw the gameplay video on twitch they said it runs on the Planetside 2 engine and pretty much has all the same gameplay elements as DayZ has/will have. They said it will be on a giant "persistent world" and has a deep crafting system, vehicles, lighting things and people on fire. Permadeath with your body still there for you to loot if you find it. Basically they saw how popular DayZ is and becoming and are trying to cash in on it. It is quite amazing how similar these two games seem to be. But DayZ on a different engine does sound intriguing. But no matter how good it is, there is something about DayZ that no other game can touch.

  12. since people are posting games here in off topic, why not start a discussion about star citizen? i was wondering why noone posted this yet. it is really promising and ambitious, and is making me really hyped :) So this is a multiplayer space sim, with an open world, sandbox, ultra realism, perma death. everything you own is highly customizable, and your character is NOT bound to the ship. you control your character from an ego-perspective, you can walk around freely in ships or on planets, and you can board other ships and fight them like in a normal ego-shooter. (yes i nean it. besides spaceship simulation, there is also ground unit battle. counter-strike style. in huge space ships) you can have alot of different ships, and a large carrier ship can carry alot of small little fighter ships. of course you can mann a ship with multiple people. one can be driver, and the other one can be gunner for example. when it comes to authenticity, this game REALLY manages to achieve that. everything you do has an effect on the economy, and most things happening in the world are player generated. (but there will be AI) and the most authentic element: your ship is built with parts which apply real physics and are fully destructible. everywhere you hit the ship, that damage will affect the parts. if you hit the left thruster, it will break and maneuvring will be difficult. if the glass cracks, it will obscure your vision. if your power supply drops, the power will drop. if your hull is breached, it will cause air to be sucked out (maby even you) if you wear a space suit, you are lucky. if not, well then you simply die. and also very cool: you can play the game however you like. it supports multiple playstyles. you can be a lawful citizen, you can be a trader, you can go exploring, you can go mining resources on asteroid belts, you can be a pirate and capture people's cargo or even obtain ther ships. most of the gameplay depends on skills. there is no "ultimate" ship. a skilled person in a 1 man fighter can very well destroy a larger 4 man ship. there is no such thing as "leveling" or other authenticity breaking elements. it is mentioned, that you can customize your ship like you customize a PC. you can add a bigger power supply. different guns. different types of projectiles (kinetic, laser or missiles) you can have a bigger cargo. but all that is going to affect you. a bigger power supply will give you more power to the systems, but it will make your signature bigger, and you will appear on the radar more easily. a bigger cargo space means more drag to the ship and more difficult maneuvrability. so everything has a drawback, and it is all simulated by the physics engine. there is no "best laser gun". you can go for a stealthy ship. small guns, low power supply needed, lower signature on the radar and therefore perfect for sneaky stealth actions. what is really promising is the way that it is developped. It is being created by Chris Roberts, the father of space-sim who created wing commander and freelancer. He started a kickstarter, which got brutally exceeded. they already pledged over 10 million, and is the most pledged game ever. as an independent game, they are fully listening to their community, and even adding community created content. (similar aproach like dean is making with a console DayZ version) now you think something like: this project is so ambitious, it must cost billions of dollars. nope. you can pick it up for 30$. if you want alpha and beta access, you will have to pay 10$ more though. i personally picked up the 40$ choiche. if you plan on getting it, now is the best idea, because the price will rise like in minecraft over time, and there are special promotions ending Jun 28. as an open world space sim, it will need a certain cash flow. so you will be able to buy ingame credits with real money. but before you cry "pay to win", it is defenitely not the case. the game only depends on skill, and you will not miss out anything if you dont pay real cash. you can only buy ingame currency, which is used to buy stuff ingame, and it is the same currency everyone else uses. it is just meant for the people who have no time to explore space and do all the fun stuff, and just want to get into combat without investing (fun) time to earn cash.
  13. Some of you might remember this game from Kickstarter about a year ago; basically it's an in-depth survival game (no zombies) where you must survive in the cold Canadian wilderness. I believe it will be available for purchase on September 22 It looks very nice so far, with a fair amount of items and mechanics. I also like the atmospheric feel of the game, which I feel will be easy to relate to thoughts?

First though, a couple of notes on the videos and concepts. I've played DayZ - a LOT, so the UI looks close to Arma's, but the final UI will be much different, so I don't want anyone to think we're trying to rip off the Arma interface. Also, this will not be a DayZ clone, as it will have mutants instead of zombies, and a lot of other differences we'll be releasing information about over time, but I definitely implemented some of the ideas I liked from DayZ in to the core functions of the game. With that out of the way, here is some information about the game: Overview: Miscreated is a brutal, post-apocalyptic, survival-based MMORPG unlike anything you've played before. It was originally inspired by the popular mod for Arma II, DayZ. The year is 2089. The Earth is in ruins from two major nuclear wars. Civilization has collapsed and the majority of mankind has been wiped out. Each day is a struggle to find food and water to live, weapons for defense, and gear to withstand the harsh unforgiving wasteland that was once earth. The city centers and areas once called home and work are now populated by grotesque mutated humans, minds rotten from radiation and sickness. Bandits fight for control of what’s left, executing everyone they come across or using them for slave labor and food. This is the world as it exists today, there is no law. Kill or be killed. Survive or Die. Introductory Story: Nobody knows what started the Final War — it was over too fast, fought with the last of the belligerent nations’ nuclear stockpiles, and the ones who pulled the triggers didn’t survive. It was the Final War because after that there was really nobody left who wanted to fight; we were all too busy surviving. Half a century of wars using nukes, bioweapons, nanoweapons, and even kinetic-kill weapons, gave us the Empty World: population 100 million and falling fast. Who’s to blame? Depends on who you are, but you could just as easily blame the weapons industry; by the end, virtually every arms dealer in the world was owned by Amalgamated Corporation; while everyone was fighting they’d been buying up what Karl Marx used to call “the means of production,” and in the end missiles on both sides proudly wore the AC label. Hell, in the end AC made just about everything, AC Sportsdrinks, AC Icecream, AC Battlegear, even AC Happytabs. I miss those. AC even gave us our wonderful mutant problem; the “vaccine” they developed when radiation sickness became as common as seasonal pneumonia from all those dirty battlefields — all the weapons-grade isotopes getting into the water table, or the fish, or the air — reacted with some of the leftover bioweapons and made lots of people go as squirrely as tab-pumped cannibals. You can ignore a neighbor developing neo-elephantitis or novuleprosy, but when he tries to eat you, you’ve got to take an interest. So that’s it, we’re done, civilization is taking a breather. In 2089, anyone left alive and unmutated is just focused on staying that way. There are stories of enclaves here and there, where they’re lucky enough to have plenty of food stockpiled and mutants are thin on the ground or there’s lots of ammunition to throw at them. My advice is find one. Or make one. The Earth abides, all this too shall pass away, and if Darwin blesses you then you or your kids will inherit what’s left. For now, it’s one day at a time. Features: Realistic Bullet Physics: Bullet trajectory will change based on gravity, air resistance, and wind.Random Encounters: Encounters can be spawned dynamically and located anywhere on the map.Dynamic Item Spawns: Vehicles, weapons and items will usually be found in logical places, but can also be found anywhere in the world. Be sure to check everywhere for items – lockers, stoves, cupboards, and many more.Persistent Characters: Your character’s stats and items will be saved when you exit the game. When you log back in, you will have your health, items and location all restored.Comprehensive Inventory system: Store items on your character and collect weapons, ammo and other useful items. You can also find additional items to increase the amount of storage space your character has – like backpacks.Incapacitation System: Allows other players to revive or execute you based on conditions surrounding your death.Food and Water systems: Keep your hunger and water levels up in order for your character to function at maximum efficiency. The game features a real 24 hour clock based on the location of the server you are playing on.First and Third Person Camera Views: Switch views based on personal preference (can be limited based on individual server settings).Persistent World: Explore a huge world with a playable space of over 64km² (8km x 8km).Item Storage: Stash items around the world in items such as tents, vehicles, and other items. Return to them later to retrieve your items – if another player hasn’t found and taken them at least.Bounty system: Place a contract on someones head or go reap other bounties yourself.Underground Areas: Explore hidden underground bunkers, caves, and caverns.     So, there's another Doom on it's way. Still being developed by ID software, but Bethesda has dug their teeth into this as publisher. Beth seems to be doing quite well for its self recently, and maybe even perferred partner with ID after RAGE and Wolf and such... some videos: I'm not anticipating a strongly developed story, but this includes SP and MP content, so of course spoilers apply. Now i don't see Doom as being (truly) a crucial point of interest in the gaming community - quake and doom arguably built the FPS genre, but aside from this the substance is not a critical component as say STALKER or HL1/2/eps may be in terms of innovation and soul - but I'm not sure how to receive this news from the videos i have seen. Doom was at its core a corridor stalking bullet hell FPS, with elements of horror. Doom3 developed the 'horror' aspect, although also including cheap thrills such as the coined term 'monster closets' but was dark, and unrelenting. It came out at a time when the technology was being pushed forwards with dynamic lighting, particle effects etc... but didn't compete as well due to being near-release to HL2, with grav-gun gimmick and such, but was arguably technically superior. Looking at these videos, i see slow time weapon selection (console), execution QTEs, vaulting, double jumps, neon light/bloom saturation, creeps dropping power ups and large amounts of health / ammo... Bethesda will probably try to develop at least a minimum of story around the game, greater than that of D3, which is OK, but does anybody else feel that developers are taking too much liberty to change the franchises we know and love with these endless streams of remakes now-days? Also not direct criticism, but it does appear that multiple assets have been taken from RAGE and other bethesda titles to go into this. By this statement i mean flailing jetpack revenants/'authority' from Rage, drop and hand animations from F4 power armor, etc.. I'm also anticipating season pass+DLC, maybe even skins for MP. This is Bethesda, they're a great company, but they've been bulking and i think we'll start seeing them flex their muscles soon. It looks like they're splitting their efforts between SP and MP, and that the MP is becoming an arena shooter more like UT than Doom-pure. Not too upset about this, bar the cheesy executions, because i love me a good arena shooter. Trepidation awaits me though as I can't think of a great MP Bethesda game, and i hope that the effort split doesn't mean compromise on both (or even a single) front. Doom was SP first. Interestingly, the developers (id) have stated that allongside Doom2: hell on earth, Doom4/2106 is intended to be a sidestep in the genre, not following Doom3 but also different on its own right. That is, to my ears, they are intending to move the franchise/product away from horror, away from its roots, and away from Doom3 the self professed 'reboot' of the series. Also statements about MP being 'developed separately' may suggest a different software house is handling this side of things. Also, it looks like C++ will feature heavily in the development of Doom2016. What i do not like to see, and feel that it came through in the videos quite strongly: "Id software considered the biggest challenge in developing the game is to create a game that can compete with other popular shooters like Call of Duty and Battlefield, as they considered that the popularity of the Doom series among younger audiences are relatively low when compared to the aforementioned franchises, since the last installment in the series was released back in 2004." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doom_%282016_video_game%29 It seems no AAA game can stand on its own two feet today, and must be measured to the common denomenators (which incidentally make money hand over fist for i don't know why). Doom pioneered a genre. Kids today don't want excessive gore and shit without the odd weapon bash and valut/mantle mechanics? Remember when the strongest criticism was 'there's no genitals on the demons and why can't i use flashlight and weapon?'

  23. MULTIPLAYER IS FINALLY OUT! And the game got a name finally: WRECKFEST! My friends footage from yesterday's gaming. Played MP 8h straight yesterday. I've never laughed so much and so hard :D The handling is "getting there" at least it's way better than in the pervious builds. The damage model has been also improved closer to the sneak peek damage. There's now 5 cars, 5 track that can also be reversed, 2 figure 8 track, an oval and 3 derby pits. Multiplayer is up to 18 players and it was 24 players for a day but they hotfxed it out but I'm sure it will come back because there wasn't too bad issues with it if the host was good and people didn't have high pings. It's still early access game and unfinished but if you have 24€ to spare in Steam or $25 or more to spare in their website nextcargame.com be sure to do that! Old stuff. It's so awesome to be a PC gamer right now. Anyone here remember FlatOut games? Well Bugbear is doing a next FlatOut but this time it's named Next Car Game. PC only at first and fuck the publishers. Good gameplay only video You can already pre-order the game for $25 but later it raises to $30. I've had so much blast with FlatOut 1 and 2 that I'm sure this won't disappoint. A new damage video that might blow up your mind: New gameplay video 14.11.2013 Well the game has been out now for a while. You can buy it directly from BugBear (you can get it pretty cheap from there if you want) or from Steam. It's still pre-alpha but that doesn't mean the game isn't fun because this is probably one of the best alphas I've played and they say it's pre-alpha. Handling is arcade but isn't really far from games like Gran Turismo or Forza. I can enjoy this much with my wheel and pedals but if I want play with keyboard I can turn couple assists on. The best part of the game is that you can drive with 23 AI. Here's a nice community footage what the Next Car Game is all about.
