  2. So im getting money for Christmas for a computer, not much (around £250) and im wondering what the minimal specs are to have a decent experience. Also, what do you guys recommend, DayZ stabndalone or the Arma 3: DayZ mod? Thanks.
  3. SOME INFORMATION Hello, this is my first post on these forums. I'm gonna be honest with you, I made my account hoping for some help from the community. I'm a big fan of survival games in general, so of course I was very excited for the release of DayZ. I bought it as soon as it came out and managed to play it for 10 hours (with about 10 fps at all times) but then I started getting FPS drops at the main menu. I had no choice but to uninstall it and after that I didn't play it for 2 years and instead I played other games. But last weekend I got a chance to play it again on my brother's computer which is significantly better than my own. I realised that I loved the game, so I redownloaded it on my own computer, but of course it was unplayable. So therefore I want a really good PC that can handle DayZ at as high as possible settings, with 60 fps or higher. Definiately not under 50. I am also interested in ARMA 3 amongst other games (and upcoming games) so I'd like the computer to be able to hande those too (on as good as possible settings). I barely know anything about specs and such so I'd appreciate if you included the price tag and their performance. I live in Sweden, if that's important to know. Price? Try to keep it within a reasonable price range. I can't afford a computer that goes for like €3,000 ($3,395), that's simply not possible at the current state. I am willing to sacrifice some performance if it means I'll get a better price. I am thinking about €1,500 ($1,700) - €1,700 ($1,925) but I might be able to pay up to €2,000 ($2,265), but anything above is gonna be tough. I appreciate any help I can get! Thanks :)
  4. Desktop Processor AMD quad core fx 4300 3.8 ghz Graphics card NVIDIA geforce gt730 Resolution 1280 x 1024 Ram 8gb ddr3 SDram Am looking to run the mod on medium. What would my fps be in towns and fields?
  5. I have a Macbook Pro 15" Retina made in late 2013 with the specs as follows: Processor 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Graphics Intel Iris Pro 1024 MB & 2gb NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M Software OS X (Maverick) 10.9.1 (13B3116) and I was curious if I installed Windows (is 7 better than 8.1?) through bootcamp, if it would run Dayz well on it?
  6. Computer Build

So im gonna build a computer and I want it to run Dayz on high to max settings with 40-50 fps. I am also looking to run BFHL and BF4 at ultra settings at ~60. I've done ALOT of research regarding GPUs CPUs and what is best and I've put together this on Pcpartpicker. I was wondering if this would be good or if I could improve in some areas or if its to overkill in others. Also, my budget is $1400-1550 http://pcpartpicker.com/p/YJYkqs
  7. This is normal?

Hi! I play a lot of dayz. I love this game. But I have problems with performance. I get 23 - 27 FPS in Elektro in minimun settings and 720p. Why? Is my PC? The Game? I dont know why this happens. :( Thnks :) Sorry for my bad english, im spanish.

  9. Hi I bought dayz a week ago and have already played 40 hours I love the game but I i only get 10 frames on my desktop (Which has great specs) and I get 20 frames on my laptop (Which has decent specs) I am really confused because every game I play on my desktop I get 60+ frames on good quality setting but on dayz i get 10 frames if i am lucky on very low quality settings. I have tried everything lauch options graphic options and changing the .cfg files. Desktop specs OS WIndows 7 RAM 8 GB Processor Intel® Core i5-3470 CPU @ 3.20GHz, 3201 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s) 64 bit Graphics is Nivida If you know why this is happening or if the game is just not optimized for my specs Please help i really want to play this game properly and get a fighting chance against bandits
  10. Will DayZ work on my pc ?

Hello everybody .. I got a question for you all........ I got Dayz standalone as a gift so I went online to check if my pc would meet the specs so I am a little bit confused.. My specs are Intel ® Pentium ® D CPU 2.66 GHZ 2.67 GHZ RAM : 2GB Graphic Card : nvidia 9500 gt 32 BIT OPERATING SYSTEM most of the these types of games run on low settings even arma 3. So please help me out if can play DayZ standalone on my pc. Thank you !!!
  11. Hello! I think I have the best settings possible for getting good frames in DayZ Standalone while maintaining a good graphics quality on a Mid to Low end gaming PC My Specs: GPU: GeForce GTX 650 ti CPU: AMD A6-3650 APU Memory: 8 GB DDR3 RAM HDD: 1 TB OS: Windows 7 Home Premium Graphical Settings: This is what I run on, and I get 40+ frames outside of cities and 25-30 inside. First, go to your Video settings in game. Upon opening change your RENDERING RESOLUTION to 100% and turn VSync OFF. Then Go to TEXTURES Video Memory: AUTO Texture Detail: HIGH Texture Filtering: HIGH (changing this to high makes your graphics card take the load of processing/rendering the textures and can help performance on some builds) Then go to QUALITY Objects: VERY LOW (changes the rendering distance for objects, can massively improve performance) Terrain: NORMAL (changing this setting currently does nothing) Clouds: DISABLED (clouds reduce fps by a lot and really aren't that important) Shadows: NORMAL (changing this to low can give an extra frame or two but will change shadows to render as blocky and undetailed) Now go to RENDERING DISABLE EVERYTHING OR PUT AT THE LOWEST SETTING. THEN CHANGE EDGE SMOOTHING TO HIGH SMAA OR FXAA (SMAA or FXAA makes up for Anti-Aliasing which reduces jaggies on the edges of objects) After all this has been changed in game, consider taking these steps to maybe improve fps more in game: Go to this directory: Libraries/Documents/DayZ/Dayz.cfg Then change 3D Performance to 100000 (One hundred thousand) Also change these two from what you have them at to: GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1; GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1; Please let me know if this has helped you and if you have any questions please comment below. Edit: Colored bold words for easier viewing.
  12. New build, will this do?

Hey guys, I'm getting a bit of an upgrade soon. I was wondering if this would do: 4670k cooled by a hyper 212 plus Asrock hd3 z87 mobo 8gb ddr3 1600mhz evga scx gtx 770 (2gb) I'm looking to max dayz standalone with absolutely 0.0 input lag. Frames per second are less important, just as long as I can make it feel like I'm playing counterstrike (with vsync turned off, of course). I know that arma and dayz are very cpu-intensive, maybe that explains why I'm running everything on low while still getting a measily 12 fps in cherno (I'm using an amd phenom II x4 945 @ 3.2 ghz, 6gb of ddr2 and an r6850 atm). I'm playing on 1920x1080, no fancy 21:9 or 4k stuff.. The rest of my specs are basically up to date: I bought an ocz zt 650w modular psu a couple of weeks ago along with a cooler master 430 elite, and I'm running windows from a 120gb intel ssd and dayz from a 1tb 7200rpm samsung sata drive. Regards, Cheeki.
  13. Okay guys, so I've been looking into upgrading my computer hardware to finally play arma 2 OA (dayz) at more than 20 fps on low settings. Now I'm curious what exactly should I enhance, given that some people say Arma 2 OA is a CPU heavy game. I will list my specs down below, but at the moment, I have a semi decent processor, and a shitty graphics card, so I'm not sure why I would upgrade my CPU when it is decent already. Anyways I just want any expert advice on which one I should be upgrading. Specs CPU - AMD FX-6120 Six-Core Processor --- Speed - 3.50 GHz (unclocked) RAM - 10 GB (plenty there) GPU - AMD Radeon HD 7450 (That's right... Terrible) Power Supply - 300 Watts (Don't worry I am already upgrading this to at least a 500 watt) I think that's all that is necessary correct? Average FPS Open Fields - 25 Towns - ~18 Forests - 13 (trees are the bane of my computer for some reason) So what is my problem? Should I really be upgrading my GPU or CPU? Thanks fellow survivors, bandits, and blessed heros! P.S. Here's some beans for the road.
  14. Hey there, I get really bad FPS in dayZ, ranging from 5 (highly populated epoch servers) to 25 on deserted vanilla servers. My specs are as following: Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 RAM: 4GB Motherboard:Gigabyte EP45-UD3P GPU: Radeon HD5750 Which one of these parts is the main problem? Any other info you want me to give that might help you help me? Any help would be appreciated.
  15. Hi there, uhm, I'm not 100% sure if this is supposed to go into this forum.. If it's not supposed to be, I'll move it and whatnot.. Anyways, the point: I was debating dropping $30 on the SA to try and help w/ the bugs and have a little fun in the process. I played DayZ when it was a mod, but barely so. Could I maybe post my specs here and have somebody say if I'd be able to run it? 'cause when I tried to play the mod, it was sort of really laggy.. Thanks in advance. Specs:
  16. Hi There! Now before you guys say that macs are bad believe me i know they are the most irritating machines on the planet - that is why it is unfortunate that i have to own one! (unexpected bday present) I prefer pc and recognise that day z cannot be played on a mac! However i was wondering is it possible to bootcamp windows 7 onto my mac pro and play it like that (basically installing windows on my mac) These are the minimum required specs: Windows Vista SP2 or Windows 7 SP1 Intel Dual-Core 2.4 Ghz or AMD Dual-Core Athlon 2.5 GHz Memory 2GB Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT or AMD Radeon HD 3830 or Intel Graphics 4000 with 512MB Vram My specs are pretty average tho: Mac OSX Mavericks 2.4 Ghz Intel Core i5 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 Intel HD Graphics 3000 384mb Do you think considering these specs that if i am running windows it would be possible to play day z? I am aware however that my Intel graphics card is below the minimum - do you think i could get away with it? Thanks guys!
  17. Hello, various people. There are a LOT of people wanting to know if their computers are good enough to run DayZ, which is an understandable enough concern when it comes to spending real money on a product you aren't sure will work as intended. Thusly I bring to you game-debate.com's system minimum/recommended comparison features. http://www.game-debate.com/can-I-run/?EA Literally click that link, choose any EA game, and then you'll be at a screen showing the box art, a short synopsis, the required/recommended PC specs, and (finally) a 2-option "Is a laptop?" and 2 scroll menus, one for GPU and one for CPU. Put in your GPU/CPU (if you aren't sure, type in "System" in the start menu and hit enter) and follow along. Eventually it'll say "This is recommended CPU/etc" Rating (1-10) "This is your CPU/etc" Rating (1-10) At the top-right there's a search bar. Type in "ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead," hit search, and put in your PC specs as asked. This is an example of what it looks like REQUIREMENTS Arma II: Operation Arrowhead System Requirements INTEL CPUAMD CPUNvidia GPUAMD GPURAMOSDirect XHDD SpaceGD VerdictMinimum RequirementsPentium D 830 3.0GHzAthlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3600+92% GeForce 7800 GSRadeon X1800 Series 256MB89% 1 GBWin Xp 32DX 97 GBFPSGD Adjusted RequirementsCore 2 Duo E7400 2.80GHzAthlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+80% GeForce 8800 GTRadeon HD 485067% 2 GBWin Xp 32DX 97 GBFPS Information I entered Edit rig CPU: Core i7-4700MQ 4-Core 2.4GHzGFX: GeForce GTX 770MRAM: 8GBHDD: No hard drive Premium Member - Game Resolution AnalysisWidth Height800 6001024 7681366 7681280 10241600 9001600 12001920 10241920 12002560 1600
  18. This will not guarantee your PC will get 50+ fps with a build that meets requirements. ArmA II is already a terribly unoptimized game, so that is just unlucky. I also will not cover PSU requirements, motherboard requirements etc because they do not add to performance. So since the 'Can I run it?' thread gets about 50 posts a day, I've decided to try and post the minimum specs and what would run DayZ just fine. *No idea what is needed to run DayZ?* Boom! There are the minimum and recommended system specs required to run DayZ (ArmA II OA) Your computer should meet those requirements to run it. However, having the minimum specs doesn't mean you can run it maxed out. With CPU speeds like that, I'd be surprised if your computer booted up. My old computer barely met the minimum requirements, and I got ~20 - 30 with everything on low or disabled. *What should I have to run DayZ?* If you are looking for anything over 30 fps, I would recommend at least this: - At least 3.0GHz of CPU speed (4 core) Intel fanboi here, just letting ya know :) I would recommend at least 3.0GHz for smooth gameplay (paired with a good GPU of course). My old CPU was clocked at 2.93GHz and I got around 20 - 30 on low, although that was most likely more my GPUs fault. The 'i' series of processors are highly recommended. (i5, i7, not so much i3, most of these have dual cores which isn't very helpful with a game like this) i5 2500, i5 3570, i5 4670, i7 2600, i7 3770, i7 4770... All of these have 3.0GHz+ and 4 cores. If you are using an AMD CPU, there will really be no difference in performance. Most of AMDs CPUs are very cheap with fast clock speeds (usually 3.4GHz+) A10 5800, A10 5600, FX 4300, and AMDs monster flagship CPU, the FX 8350. All of these are good choices. - At least 8GB of 1600MHz RAM Corsair, G.Skill and Kingston, Patriot are good RAM brands. - Any size HDD is fine, but having more than 20GB will be fine. My ArmA II Operation Arrowhead folder takes up about 10GBs of HDD space. - GPUs: If you are a Nvidia fanboi like me, I would recommend at least a GTX 560ti or better (570, 580, 590...) HOWEVER, if your GPU is a 610, 620, 630 or 640, don't be surprised if it can't handle the game. Just because there is a '6' in your GPUs name doesn't mean it's 'high end'. First number: Generation the card is from - Second number: pretty much translates to the cards quality out of 10. 1 - 4 is crap, 5 - 6 is good, 7 - 9 is very good. If you have a AMD card, I would recommend at least a Radeon HD 5770 or better (5850, 5870, 5950, 5970...) again, to figure out if your card is decent, look at the numbers. Much like Nvidia, the first number = generation of cards, second and third = quality out of 10. 1 - 4 is crap, 5 - 7 is good, 8 - 9 is very good. - At least 1GB of VRAM (having 6gb is complete overkill imo) *How can I find out what's inside my PC?* The easiest way to get everything about your PC is to download CPU-Z. http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html This will tell you your CPU brand and model, your GPU, your RAM brand, amount and speed, motherboard brand and chipset.... Otherwise, you can simply right click on your 'computer' icon and select 'properties'. Here is your CPU model. To view your GPU, go to Control Panel, select Device Manager and then Display Adapters. *FAQ* Q. What does it mean if my CPU has a 'k' at the end of it? A. That would mean that your CPU is 'unlocked' and is able to be overclocked. However, not all motherboards support overclocking, so check up on that if you decide to do it. Q. What is overclocking? A. Overclocking pretty much means you are pushing your CPU to run faster than its store speed. This comes at a price. Pushing the CPU to go faster means it will run hotter, and that means a more sufficient cooling system. Stock coolers will barely keep your CPU cool if it is overclocked. Q. What is an 'intergrated' GPU? A. Intergrated mean that the GPU is built directly into your motherboard. These GPUs are very sloppy and will barely run most modern 3D games at playable FPSs. This GPU will use your motherboards RAM instead of its own. A dedicated GPU is detachable from the motherboard. Q. What is VRAM? A. Video Random Access Memory. This will only come with dedicated GPUs. Q. Why is DayZ running at bad FPSs? A. More than likely you are running everything higher than your system can handle. Quite often people overlook 'Anti-aliasing', which smooths the edges of objects, creating more pixels to give this effect. This can rip a chunk of FPS from your gameplay. Post Processing Effects also have a big effect on your gameplay, and can save you a heap of frames. I hope I helped someone!
  19. Hey DayZ fans i love Dayz but the my frame rates and quality ruin the games genuine fun feel. Below are my specs, with these specs i usually get 25 fps in wilderness and 15 in towns. What i want you PC specialists to do is tell me what i should upgrade the most on my computer and ANY types of tips. Also i plan on getting the GTX 660 as my graphics card i want you to comment on that finally can you tell me what solely Dayz runs on and what is probaly the best choice on what i should get.. 20. NEW GPU for DayZ?

Hey guys , I just wanted to ask a simple question , If ill be able to run this game properly with a new GPU with 25+ fps on med and 30+ on low My current specs are Core 2 Dual 3.00GhZ 2GB DDR2 RAM Nvidia 8600 GT 512 DDR2 When I played DayZ i had 15 fps on lowest settings , and barely went to 20 , stuck between 8-10 in forests or trees area , im thinking of upgrading my GPU currently , my eyes are on the radeon 7770 2GB DDR2 or GDDR5 1 GB GHZ edition , will that work without changing my ram or CPU?
  21. Ok, So I've fell love in dayz. Not because I've been playing it, but I've been watching streams. The reason why I am not playing it is because it's unplayable. I've done any possible tweak to Arma 2, and I'm playing on 20fps~ outsides of citys, and if I'm in a vehicle driving trough cherno for example, the FPS can even drop down to 10, and when I drive out of the city, it won't go up again. I've tried every graphic settings, nothing really changes my FPS. I remember when I bought the game I would constantly have 60+~ fps outsides of citys and about 30-35~ inside. And I was wondering if this will be fixed in SA? Because I really enjoy this game, but in this state it's unplayable. Here are my computer specs: Operating System: Windows Home 64-Bit System Model: HP G62 Notebook PC Processor: Intel Core i3 CPU Memory: 4096MB RAM Around how many frames would I get? Thanks. -PS, I already know I have a pretty crappy computer.
  24. Will my PC be able to run DayZ?

Hope this is in the correct section, and hasn't been covered too many times before! I was wondering if anyone could help answer if my PC could run DayZ? If not, what parts would you recommend upgrading? My current specs: Intel ® Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @2.4GHz 8GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS Windows Vista (I know, I know, I am willing to upgrade!) Thanks in advance.
