Tents & Vehicles General
LoneMerc2 (DayZ) replied to Tiger205's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Why are there no bicycles implemented in the mod? It would be a cheap and cheerful way of getting around faster :P Are vehicles such as the ATV, Pickups and Motorcyle's a lot further inland? I've never spotted a single vehicle near the coast or the surrounding area. I've been across a Huey only twice, I found a dead bandit next to it with tons of loot. While I was taking his shit a guy crept up behind me and blasted me! I never even got a chance to check it out but it was very cool to see one stranded in the field. The next time I saw one was when I was being chased by about 9 or 10 runners and with no ammo I was screwed, then all of a sudden I hear cracks and it is a bunch of guys on a roof killing the z's behind me. Turns out there were repairing a Huey on the roof. I traded a bunch of scrap metal and toolboxes for ammo. I wonder if they ever got it up and running! -
Vehicles/tents/loot is persistent on a particular server. Cannot be transferred around servers. So you have to pick a server to be your base. The only thing you can transfer servers is your person with your current inventory.

question: how did you save your vehicles too keep it? i have no idea :p

That does suck. I think more than one player has had the same issue. My best defense against this, is not growing attached to anything. I don't have a goal to find NVG or a nice weapon, a Winchester does me fine. Why? Why stress. The more "nice" things you have, the more you stress about being killed by a bandit. Same goes for vehicles, its perhaps easier to stick with the mid-level equipment and enjoy the game.

Is it full of assholes? Yep, sure is. Do I think ArmA players hate it? Fuck no. I play with a well organized group that has had at it's peak 40 members (never got more than 20 on at once). All we ever really did was COOP, maybe some Domination for PVP. We have guys coming back to the game that haven't played in a year, and we have new joins. People that like ArmA like this mod, otherwise there wouldn't be a mod. This also isn't ArmA. We all wear the same uniform except for Bandits and that is changing. We all don't get to pick sweet guns out of a crate or drive tanks or fly A-10s or call in artillery. This is turning ArmA on it's head, because the only thing that brought in new ArmA players was the tons of weapons, the vehicles the realism of it all............. but most hate walking around forever. Well what do we spend most of our time doing? Fucking walking, and people are eating it up. If you were actually a true ArmA player, you would have a group you play with. The game was made for COOP or TvT, it's not a single player game at all since the campaigns are buggy and broken more or less. And joining a PvP server on your own blows. Thank god for Day Z, maybe we can get more people to play ArmA III when it comes out. See how they like being Bandits when I call a mortar strike on them when they snipe my point man.

It's related to HIVE. Or bad restarts, lot of shit involved. Sometimes tents and vehicles will get " hung " after a restart. It's not a " major " issue because the tents and vehicles are, in fact, still there, but they're not showing. They will probably come back after another restart.

Hey people! On New York 2 server, me and my buddies had a buttload of vehicles/guns. We were planning on switching servers to a more stable one. Our camp was then looted( ). Thankfully the server reset and we got everything back (They forgot to save the cars they stole) except the helicopter. In any case, we decided to do something nice for the coast players on NY2. We filled up the 2 city buses we had with all the guns our camp had (mp5s, m16s, m1014's) and took it to the coast to give away free guns.Enjoy the video! P.S. I didn't add music, but feel free to put whatever party-bus music you want in the background while watching it lol. Also, check out the rest of the videos on my channel (Recent ones are Day Z related). :P I RECOMMEND WATCHING ALL VIDEOS ON MY CHANNEL IN 720P HD! Involved People: S6! Acebane S6! Slaieth Famine(AKA S6! Kertus) and many other coast-players that night Discussion points: 1.Are you as surprised as we are that we didn't get shot? 2.Would you have ambushed the loot bus and took it's goodies? 3.Should there be more loot-bus action? Side Question: Does anyone know any servers that have a decent sized clan active on it? We're looking for a server with conflict and competition.

Gun Bags or Larger Backpacks
mooncabbage replied to pricelinenegotiator's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
First of all, good luck carrying around 3 tires, scrap metal etc IRL, I don't care how big your pack is. Secondly, the point is it's SUPPOSED to be virtually impossible to solo. It's incentive to team up. If you really want to solo it you could take a few trips, but I see no need for a new backpack. Odds are it'd just be used to store huge amounts of beans or cooked meat anyway. PS. If I remember correctly you can store gear in the vehicles too, hence incentive to have one. -
Rocket launcher is underpowered
Zarathustra (DayZ) replied to DJKhaled's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes, me too, but those are either unarmoured vehicles or vehicles with so little armour as to make using an AP round completely overkill. HE rounds are more than adequate for taking out anything smaller than a Main Battle Tank - so any vehicle in the mod! -

BlackAlpha replied to DJKhaled's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No. It's also a HEAT round' date=' specialised for penetrating armoured vehicles. [/quote'] There are also HE rounds which are more grenade like. That is the round I was thinking of. Pretty much the only rocket launcher like round that is used for anti personnel that I know of, but I don't know that much. The RPG mostly uses AT warheads. Just like the AT4, it's not really meant to be fired against infantry. But the RPG7 (and more modern versions of that type) does have a special fragmentation warhead, which is used to kill infantry. There are actually many rocket launchers that have anti personnel warheads (HE/Fragmentation). But the RPG7 would fit the setting (ex soviet country) the best. I'm just not sure if vanilla ArmA2 has the anti personnel warhead for the RPG7. -
this is the first example of skillset representation for dayz ive actually agreed with. It's awesome that you've stuck purely to the abstracted activities in the game. Nay-sayers, i hear you, but look at it this way. You build a fire in dayz. You get meat off a cow. You set up structures. you repair things, you give people blood transfusions. What do you actually DO when these things happen? You just wait for them to be finished. So there's no way to do it any better or worse through practise. Which brings me to this point : it shouldn't be abstracted to EXP you can allot to whatever you like. Repetition of tasks is what should make you better at them. That way even if you aren't the best at something, within your group, you could organise for one specific guy to do the butchering and cooking, one guy to do the medical treatment, one guy to do repairs to vehicles - that way the team all benefits from someone who has more "experience" at it and can do it more efficiently, rather than having 5 guys of equal skill but all equally crap at it. Naturally, any kind of "skill system" should not even think about touching actual combat or navigation or movement skills. Those things are represented with enough depth that you yourself get better at them through practise without having to represent it in another way.

Rocket : What is a " proper " server restart
ordeal replied to drakenof's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Ok Gabriel this is a proper restart on the ANZ1-3 servers to get vehicles working 80% of the time after that keep trying till it works :/ Stop server, hive and hive auth. Start hive auth then hive then server Join the server first or at least before most people, login and LOCK the server. Some people will have joined before you had a chance to login but as long as its only a few thats fine otherwise kick them. Now start the server all the way till your in-game and wait another 30sec till unlocking it. Works 80% time every time! p.s. Took a shit load of testing to get this right. -
No. It's also a HEAT round, specialised for penetrating armoured vehicles.

Gutterboy44 replied to DJKhaled's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Love how traditional FPS's have conditioned people to thinking rocket launchers are these catch all giant explosion machines. They are all very specially tailored for their use, which is primarily anti tank/vehicle. Use it for structures and vehicles in DayZ, but that is a large item to haul around for the limited use. Side note, the way the AT4 rocket actually penetrates armor is bad ass. A shaped charge basically turns the steel armor into a molten jet and carries all the energy into the cabin of a tank and, well not good to be in there once that happens. -
I've been noticing more and more that the easier weapons to find, like the Winchester and the Lee Enfield pack ALOT more power then the rarer weapons to fine such as AK's, M4,M16 etc. Not even the other day I was sneaking around and came across a guy camping inside of a firestation with a CZ. I got up there pretty much touching him and fired around 15 bullets of my AK74 into his chest on full auto and he still had the time to do a 180 and fire his sniper hitting him causing me to bleed a little. Weapons like the m16 and m4 take 2 shots to kill a zombie, making you use the little ammo you have more wisely. But when it comes down to the easier weapons you can just go crazy and still find 8 mags in the next house. I can't really see the risk of going up north and trying to fine the rarer weapons with the rarer ammo if you could just stay south and find these far more powerful weapons and alot more ammo. Anyone agree? Oh and the vehicle thing. I think it could be a good idea if you could get parts out of wreaked vehicles you find laying around. ^^

Rocket : What is a " proper " server restart
red62 replied to drakenof's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
>sick of losing vehicles http://lmgtfy.com/?q=alpha seriously mate -
Well i'm having some issues. Every 4-5 hours or so, i need to restart the server because of zombies count / loot bug / server extremely slow. It's not that bad and doesn't bother me much but sometimes after a restart tents / vehicles do not appear. I think you said somewhere it's because of a " bad server restart " or something like that, well, why not, but what's a " proper " server restart then ? I'm using the " shutdown " function of ArmA 2 RCon, if it's not " proper " enough, what should i do ? I'm fucking sick of loosing vehicles because of this shit.

Am I the luckiest newbie player?
BlackAlpha replied to MidnightReverie's topic in New Player Discussion
There used to be one, but currently, there's no moon. Assuming all the servers follow real life dates, the moon will be back in about 10 days. Then you'll be able to see again during night. As for the "evolution". Maybe we simply haven't gotten to that point yet. So far we've had: 1. Everyone works together to fight off the zombie apocalypse. 2. People start to attack each other. No one trusts each other. People go lone wolf. 3. People start forming small groups. They only trust people inside their group. Outsiders are greeted with hostility. Now we have to wait and see what the next step brings. But I doubt the next step will bring us a trading infrastructure. Right now, pretty much no one practices trading. So we will first need to "invent" trading, and maybe after that we'll figure out how to create a trading infrastructure. But that might not happen until the tents/vehicles stop disappearing with every new patch and server restart. Once that has been solved, we'll be able to properly store items. That means trading will become a feasible option, as you'll be able to store the things you buy/sell. Then the fortifications must stop disappearing, so that we'll be able to create proper bases/camps. Then we'll be able to setup safe areas, and possibly trading areas as well. -
I posted a reply the other day saying that the forums were the closest thing to a Governmental Gazette or Paper of Record that we administrators had, and that got me thinking that I should create a thread where every administrator can post the rules for the servers they run in a single place, as a quick reference for players, and in an effort to do our due diligence. We obviously cannot personally call, email, and send out pamphlets to every person in the world in the off chance they might pick up DayZ. We must make due with what we can. I've posted the rules to my servers before, but this might allow a concise publication of server rules and regulations players can reference, and I've also had to make up a surprising amount of new regulations given that the ones I had in place before seem to be ones players generally follow. So, without further ado: ---------- For the Chicago 1 Series of servers, these currently being Chicago 1 Original and Chicago 1 Blues: In-game server rules (in no particular order): THE DO NOTS: 1. Do not spam microphone voice chat. People will bring this to your attention, and when they do, listen to them. Using in-game voice is acceptable only on the direct channel, which is why voice will never be disabled completely. I recommend that players go into options and unbind ALL VOIP/VON keybinds, then find the keybind that is specifically for Voice on Direct Channel. This way if you ever accidentally broadcast from your mic, it will only be to those around you. It will also switch you from whatever channel you're on (typically side) to the direct, and then automatically switch you back to your previously used channel when you release the mic key. Very handy. 2. Do not spam connections. Connection spamming is not repeatedly pressing enter or spacebar to get into the server. Connection spamming is not waiting 10 minutes or more and attempting to reconnect to this or another server to see if it's a persistent, global problem. Connection spamming is not reconnecting after you spawn in incorrectly, like in the debug forest or ocean. All of those are acceptable and understandable. Connection spamming refers only to repeatedly slamming one or more servers with multiple attempts to connect in a very short period of time. This puts strain on the servers, ranging from desync to outright crashing as the server freaks out. An extreme amount of players doing it can also cause the support apps to begin spitting out errors no matter how many times they're fail-safed and recovered. 3. Do not attempt to depopulate the server or instill "panic." Do not announce that on another server they're handing out free anti-materiel rifles, NVGs, and GPSs. Do not announce server restarts. Beyond anything else, doing this will most likely result in a permanent, irrevocable, unappealable ban. 4. Do not spread misinformation to other players. Players ask what server they're on because finding servers can often prove to be difficult, making it difficult to know which server they've joined. They either want to a) attempt to rejoin the same server or b) inform their friends they've found a working server and get a group organized. Misinforming them deliberately deprives them of their play experience. You aren't cute and clever when you tell them Chicago 1 Blues is eg. Dallas 1 or US 4. You are being a pain in the ass, and it's nothing against Dallas 1 or US 4 -- you're keeping these players from finding the assets that they've invested time in, such as tents and vehicles, or from playing with their friends. 5. Do not talk about what Internet cliques you belong to, or which stupid Internet clique is the best and how some other Internet clique is the worst. Do not talk about 4chan or Something Awful or reddit or Google+ or MySpace or GeoCities. First of all, "LOLOL U MUST BE FROM [stupid internet website]" isn't much of an insult. If they are active in that community, they aren't going to take it as an insult (otherwise they wouldn't be part of that community) and if they aren't a part of that community, they're just going to think you're stupid. So, knowing that, what have you accomplished? You've turned my chat into a stupid slapfight between two idiots flaming each other over shit only the person trying to sling "redditor" or "channer" as an insult would find insulting, and to the rest of us watching this stupid pissing match, you both sound equally idiotic. You also turn the entire chat box into a complete shitfest, and drown out legitimate game talk with your stupidity. The same goes for people raging about Call of Duty or whatever. Don't do it. You know what community you're all a part of? The DayZ community. Talk about that instead! 6. Do not attempt to override the rules of the administrator. If I tell somebody to stop spamming mic and you run in and go "NO YOU SHUT UP! YOU CAN JUST MUTE HIM!" I could count the amount of fucks I give on one hand and could still do so if I was an amputee. You have your solution to the problem, I have my solution to the problem, and I also have the server and the responsibility for administrating it. Guess which solution trumps the other? 7. No racism/sexism/other discrimination. People have been surprisingly good about following this. I've had to hand out about two warnings about it, and only one ban (to a guy who didn't understand the server was a "no racism server", which, you know, should really just be a general life guideline for you). 8. No pointlessly offensive behaviour. If your username is Idi Amin and you're requesting fire support under the codename Uganda Actual, this is kind of funny and I'll let it slide as long as you keep being entertaining and iconoclastic. If your username is Anders Breivik and you're otherwise just acting like you want attention through shock value, I will be glad to offend your ironically delicate sensibilities when you suddenly find yourself back at the lobby screen. Ask yourself the following question: "If I walked into a bar with a healthy cross-section of the average population wearing a t-shirt espousing the views or personages I'm espousing with my in-game behaviour, would I get punched in the face?" If you answered yes to that question, avoid engaging in the behaviour at all. Remember when your mother tried to explain the difference between a person laughing AT you and laughing WITH you? This is similar. If you make us laugh AT death and all the horrible things in the world, that is good. If you find yourself laughing WITH death and all the horrible things in the world, you are foul cunt and ought to be segregated from society. 9. Do not be a stupid Internet lawyer. "BUT MOJO, WHAT ABOUT FREE SPEECH?" you cry. Hang on. "Congress shall make no law..." Alright. Stop right there. My server is not Congress. The end. 10. No far-too-long flame wars. Tying in with the "your Internet clique pissing match turns everything stupid" rule is number ten. This is a game. Gloat and strut over your victories. That's fair. Blow off steam over your losses. That's also fair. Know when to stop. That's mandatory. I know peoples' tempers can get a little hot when you come out with the short end of the stick and the ones who ended up winning the Makarov showdown at the Cherno Corral can goad them on. If I intervene and tell you the argument is over, I am not telling you to continue the argument. I'm not telling you to continue the argument with me. I'm not telling you to continue the argument with other players who have asked you to stop your vaguely erotic verbal wrestling match. I am telling you that you have each said your piece and your argument is over. 11. ABSOLUTELY, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, EXPECT SPECIAL TREATMENT if you're from my gimmick clan, Monolith, or are a server donor. I don't care if you gave me money. This should be a disincentive to act like a complete idiot, not an arousal of your sense of entitlement. If you're misbehaving you'll be treated like everybody else. Not everybody has the fortune to have money to spend towards the servers they play on, nor does everybody have the extremely good fortune to have basked in my magnificent presence for several years. That does not mean you can deprive them of their play experience. You are all my little sunshines, no matter what you give or who you know. You will NOT get a reserved slot for knowing me. You will NOT get a reserved slot for donating. You will not be able to demand people be kicked or banned for petty offences. THE DOS: 1. Inform an administrator and other players if there's a problem with the server. If there's no loot spawning, or no zombies spawning, or hiveauth didn't properly initialize your tent or vehicles, let others know immediately. The more conscientiously people play, the better the server is run. While a single report is rarely enough to actually take action, it goes a long way to establishing a pattern of server behaviour that can be enough for an administrator to take the appropriate steps to correct it. If I happen not to be around at the time, another trusted admin you don't recognize might be. And barring that, other players become aware of it and become able to pass on the message when we do become available. 2. Inform an administrator and other players if there's a problem player on the server. Due to game glitches, odd behaviour, or me simply playing the game and not always monitoring chat, I can always see abusers of the rules. For example, I'll often see a lot of people telling a person to stop using their mic even though for me it appears they're not broadcasting at all. Your admins are neither omnipresent or omnipotent, we rely on you to bring problem players to our attention immediately. Tell us if you suspect a player is playing illegitimately. Ask us if a weapon is a real drop if you suspect it's hacked in. Let us know if a person disconnected during a gunfight to avoid being killed. Inform us if they then immediately reconnected in a new position to kill you. Again, like DO #1, a single report is rarely enough to take action unless it's serious. If you spent an hour stalking a guy and he logged out, know a few things. Crashes happen. They happen at times that are inconvenient, either to you or to other players. Know that other players' lives do not revolve around you and your desire to kill them. You can't expect another player to say "Sorry grandma, I can't take you to church right now, some guys in a video game want to kill me and I have to let them, I didn't even know they were there but they might have been stalking me for an hour or so." On the other hand, that excuse doesn't fly if they reconnect immediately in a new position to kill you. It's hard to argue that you had to stop playing if you keep playing. We, the admins, need to establish a pattern of bad behaviour. That pattern is either established very quickly (based on something like them spawning in jets or disconnect/repositioning) or not at all, whether or not what appeared to be bad behaviour inconvenienced you. Rest assured that when you make a report to me, I keep a notepad and pen in front of me at all times to write down what you say, who you're accusing of it, etc. I then go through the server logs, the RCon, I make notes of their GUID, when they disconnected, etc. When you inform me of illegitimate player behaviour, it is always taken seriously, even if I can't take action immediately. 3. Do be helpful to other players. This is a matter of saving the most important rule for last. Helpful does not mean 'helping'. It doesn't mean doing zero-PvP or roleplaying the Red Cross, giving blood transfusions to every player in the Cherno church. It means playing the game legitimately, as you wish to play it, but taking the time and effort to engage your fellow players' questions and concerns. If people ask how you force-save, and you know the answer, tell them. If they're trying to figure out keybindings or controls, and you know the answer, tell them. If you're ambiguous on what I mean by the difference between helping and being helpful, consider it like this: Tell a person that according to convention, white moves first. Then try to get them in checkmate. Explain that baseball has nine innings. Then try to hit a grandslam. Victories are sweeter when you win them on a level playing field, against competent opponents. Help new players become competent opponents -- or competent teammates. TeamSpeak server rules (in no particular order): THE DO NOTS: 1. Do not come into a channel just to "hang out" with me. A lot of players do this, and I can't tell you how annoying it is to be trying to actually play the game on the rare occassion I'll sit down with it, and have somebody that just wanders into the channel to make conversation. We're coordinating movements, strategizing, talking about where we keep our tents and vehicles; all things I do not want you to know. I get why you want to be friends with the admin and be on his good side. Doing that is the fastest way to get on my bad side. 2. Seguing from 1, do not metagame. Do not forcefully sit in a publicly accessible channel listening in on another group. The channels are available for group-organization on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you need an additional group channel created, contact an admin and one will be created for you. If you cannot contact an admin at the time, feel free to use one of the other servers' empty group channels until such a time as a new channel can be created for your group. For example, if you're in Chicago 1 Original and all the Group Subchannels for that server are filled, but there are empty group channels for Chicago 1 Blues, use one of the Blues channels. Under no circumstances will an excuse be tolerated for spying. You will gain at best a single minor victory at the cost of access to the TeamSpeak and most likely the game server. Note that this doesn't apply to doing something like using the group channels for their purpose, but for nefarious ends. Feel free to ingratiated yourself to a group of players, integrate into them, and then betray them. Do not simply follow them through TeamSpeak until they feel the need to quit TS to get away from you listening in on them. A group "owns" a channel they go into until they abandon it. A group is not a single person. If you have any trouble with understanding this and wish to argue it, see "Do Not Be An Internet Lawyer" above. THE DOS: 1. Do come into any channel I'm in or poke me or private message me to inform me of a problem immediately, even at the cost of interrupting my gameplay. The server, and consequently all players, take priority over my play experience. 2. Do come into any channel I'm or poke me or private message me if you need help running ArmA 2, getting DayZ up and running, or are experiencing other technical issues related to gameplay. I'm more than happy to sit with a player and adjust settings, set up launchers, or just generally troubleshoot any problem you have, from loading errors to crashes to desktop. I want all of my players to have a positive play experience both on my server and with DayZ in general. I've been dealing with Bohemia's quirks since OFP 11 years ago, and continue to do so now. After not playing in over a year, I've reoriented myself to things I thought would remain forgotten, and will happilly let you pick my brain. I don't care if I'm in the middle of something. I don't care what you need help with. I don't care if I need to give up my slot to get you in game to see if it works. I don't care if you're a donor or don't have a dime to spare. I will try anything within my power to get you playing. This is part of what the TeamSpeak is there for. 3. Do help other players on TeamSpeak if they are asking for help or advice. Beyond anything else, I appreciate the players who not only take the time to enjoy the game, but to help others enjoy it as well. Do you know the answer to their question? Please, give it to them. Take two minutes to help them out, and then (politely) ask them to excuse themselves from the channel if they're in your group channel.

you realise people are scared of you locking them out of the database if they tell you to go jump oilman... Main reason I stopped running my server is I had a dev say they had recorded my ip... drew my own conclusions and shut it down. if thats how you treat server owners its no wonder there is a shortage, not to mention the prohibitive costs of doing so. server owners are all doing you a service and allowing the mod to succeed by providing expensive infrastructure you would otherwise be unable to provide. but you have all server owners necks in a noose currently. they have no choice but to use your database in order to run servers which means if they do not do exactly what you say. and lets face it you guys are pretty anal about alot of things. you will simply cut them off. granted, shared database means someone cheating in one server is cheating in them all. and that is an issue. as an extension of that philosophy you are forcing your own ideals on server owners that go beyond the realms of keeping the main database protected from hackers, farmers. ect. sure you have a vision for how the game should be played, and thats fine. but you do not own the servers and should not be going and telling people how to play. after all even people farming vehicles are taking part in an activity that would be persued by some survivors in a zombie apocolypse. while on the outside it looks like it is unbalancing. from a realism perspective. such things happen and the server will easily roll with it and be able to accomidate such things. by rigidly controlling how players play the game you are stopping the game from being truly emergant and evolving as players learn and survive in the environment you have created for them. so give server owners a chance. let them build communities, let them do what they need to do in order to keep thier little bit of the dayz environment running smoothly and efficiently. if something really becomes dead weight, you can always blacklist them. no offence, simply my opinion. ill shut up now :P

Kicking of Players for Clan members
c.chris.perry@gmail.com replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Okay, I'll address one of his points: - We have only a finite amount of resources on the central server. The impact of a server with five players is about the same as the impact of a server with 50 players as the connection is left open. So we prioritize those servers who allow the maximum amount of players. How does this make not allowing people to kick players a bad thing. If a server admin has to kick someone to let his clanmate in, then the server is already at capacity, and will stay that way. The other issues seem to be an issue of manpower, which can easily be resolved by the fact that there are thousands of people trying to help out. Maybe rocket/dev team should continue to bring more people on to help out. Honestly, until there are reserve slots, there NEEDS to be a way for server admins to have some sort of control over who gets onto their servers. I don't care if you have also paid for a server, that server admin is paying for that hardware that is hosting your game, they aren't cheap either. You guys are getting upset over kicking people, when there are MUCH larger host abuse issues (i.e. Chicago 3 making all vehicles explode randomly and then BLASTING music that can't be muted as it isn't someone chatting, it's just the admin abusing the hell out his power) that apparently can't even be dealt with. Kicking people to get a buddy on the server should be the last priority of who gets dropped for servers. That doesn't work, they won't give you info unless you already have the server. -
It would be awesome if there were several factions. Each with his base and roaming/patrol. They could hate each other too and loot each other for their supplies. Players could also take side and gain/lose faction depending who they kill. Factions would have different strength depending on the server and it would be a quite realistic way to get real weapons/vehicles but with a high risk of getting killed. The factions could have their own base and agenda and enlist players to their cause, hunt them down (bounties) or even try to clear specific town of zombies and set new base.

Those looking for heavy immersion
Neptune (DayZ) replied to dark_cloud's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah I use facetracknoir with a ps3 eye for all my flight sims (DCS/BMS/FC2) but I personaly don't use it for infantry but for vehicles it is great.
