  1. Here is the post from today. 'PUNCHITCHEWIE The really charming thing about this game is how being in a big awesome clan doesn't really prevent you from going back to square one at any loving second. Even when there were 20 goons on the server out of 50 random pubbies and we were all using the backpack dupe exploit to get decked out with DMRs and MP5SDs and NVG and vehicles people were still getting picked off all the time. Not to mention all the goons? who have been lurking in mumble to hunt other goons. This is a game lets a new explorer who just started 30 minutes ago and happens to head north end the progress of people with high level cooperation, knowledge and gear. I've never seen that before in any game, and it creates so much tension and atmosphere. The possibility of chaos and death and poo poo devolving to every man for himself is always there no matter how much you play, and despite many game companies claiming this mechanic this is the first one that pulled it off. This game gets really lovely in the late phase, especially when you realize how easy is is to dupe items or download hacks for the lovely Arma engine, but is sure has broken some kickass new ground." Link to forum post http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3481582&userid=0&perpage=40&pagenumber=56#post403770333 Notice no one after says it is wrong. they use LLKJ and J4G.

Possible Pickup Truck Temp Drop Bug

There is a similar issue someone posted with other vehicles. My group has experienced this bug in all of these vehicles: UAZ, bus, off-road, pick-up. Others have reported it happening in the other vehicles as well. I really hope this gets fixed soon. I cant imagine how fast it drops in a heli.

What I feel Day Z is missing

A crafting system sure would be sweet, and even possible.. I feel that this game is moving more and more towards something similar to this, with reference with starting fires and repairing vehicles.. A leveling system would be sweet, but only if you reset to level 1 upon death, creating a bigger need to stay alive.

    losing tempeture while driving

My group experienced the same effects, in all these vehicles: Bus, UAZ, off-road, pick-up.

    Post your Camps!

I love this aspect of the game and I hope it is developed in the future. (I know about sandbags - please soon!) This is our setup for a camp of four survivors, currently 2 coils of barbed wire, one fireplace, one tent, three vehicles: UAZ jeep, White UAZ (naming error?) and one "Red" all in working order albeit a little battered. We are hoping to expand with tank traps and wire around the whole perimiter for the roaming zombies update and include additional tents when we find them. Please post your camps below!

    I.D.'ing

Does the xml work with dayz? From what i can tell its only good for identifying vehicles which most of us don't have any of. I think the patch idea is a good one.
  7. I didn't see any posts on the forum regarding this issue, I have had horrible FPS since this patch came out. I went from running at 50-70FPS on max settings to 4-7fps sometimes it spikes to 10-12 for a bit. After playing on a few different servers I believe it's an issue with the server spawning too many items and vehicles and bodies; Several servers had horrible FPS but tonnes of loot and no zombies. This happened on TX1 and ANZ1 for sure and a few others whose names I can't remember. This was around 20:000-24:00 EST It also happened to my buddies who I was playing with we're all located in Ontario Canada if that makes any difference although I don't think it does. And finally, at one point the server glitched out and I was out of my bandit body, and now looking like a normal player with all my kit. I couldn't kill the old body and it was just laying prone looking around. As I ran around I found other players frozen in place and I could loot their bags.

    Tents & Vehicles General

Are vehicles can be saved outside the map? I mean we check all airfields and hospitals and there is no Huey. So we start to search it in the wilderness but we dont know should we check places out of border?
  9. Good post, but I propose a different set of solutions. -Make tents less buggy so they don't dupe, disappear, eat items, etc. Make tents packable by anyone so people can move their own tents after they die (after getting their saved gear back). As it is right now, dying isn't the problem. It's having to find a new tent so I can keep saving stuff in my stash. -Make vehicles less buggy so they don't disappear, eat items, etc. Many vehicles are mobile tents. Sadly, they are buggy as hell. Also, they allow friends to pick up other friends so they don't have to travel so far after death. I've got gear laying around multiple servers (I track it with map screenshots and footnotes). Good gear. It's not hard to get good gear in this game. It's just hard to keep items in tents and vehicles when they despawn and eat your items. It's also hard to get back to your tent when vehicles are so freakin' rare. Add a 2nd boat and some more crumby cars. Add a tank for the hardcores. Rocket says he is saving the humanity feature for a future patch. At that point, I expect the pros and cons of killing people will be at balance again. For now... kill all on sight.
  10. im just not seeing the reason to stare at a screen that is so black that my monitor may as well be turned off. Even if that seems real to you its just not fun to do. Then your prolly gonna say well this is suppose to be a realism mod but clearly it has many things that are not real at all and are made to cater to being a video game. Because first an foremost its a video game an meant to be fun. List of things in game that are not even close to real, some made unrealistic for the purpose of being a video game. - zombies are unreal. - being able to run non stop across the map with a back pack full of stuff. - being able to pick up an shoot any gun with extreme accuarcy most people have no clue how to shoot any weapon at all. - anyone is able to some how reapair any borken down vehicle, most people in real life cant even change their own oil let alone reapir a helicopter just plain unreal. - Which now brings us to the idea that people can carry around large tool boxes big enough to repair these broken down vehicles and then also carry around the large parts to repair the vehicles. - how about the fact that i need to make a fire yet the huge forest of wood is extremly useless to me. i think i could gather up a few sticks and use my flare to make a fire. - The idea of a global chat box is just plain unreal we would really have no way to communicate like that. -Random spawns of items, that just magicaly respawn on their own. -spwning zombies out of thin air - the fact that i need to eat food so often or im going to die - blood count is at 12000, what kind of count is that? didnt know i had 12000 blood in my body in real life. - a temp gauge that reads from 100 and yet can drop really low ive see like 30 what is that even measuring? - my temp drops even though im running around, if i get rained on for even a few mins then my temp drops very fast I could come up with so many more things that are just unrealistic in this game , so lets stop using the excuse thats its realism and it needs to be that dark. The fact is most of the things i listed are the way they are because it is a video game and needs to be that way. I mean who would want to play the game if your chracter could only travel a few miles before needing to stop and set up camp and rest for a day. Just like most people dont want to play a game that has a pitch black screen, in fact so dark it may as well be played with your eyes closed.
  11. Howdy all, Now that all of the vehicles in this video have been either stolen or eaten by the server, I'll release them. Not revealing the server. You can probably figure it out on your own if you care. ATV - We found it, fixed it, and quickly moved our tent out of the area (neighbors were getting too close). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QK4mKJJdBDw Boat - There it was, engine was green and ready to go. It just needed some gas. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zzyr20i_iRM&list=UUm0bQ6gEmobw7tTNLwNMEqg Regards, Luieburger

Bandits don't get punished, Survivors do...

I think that there need to be more rewards for cooperation. One possibility is to have specific tasks that require large scale cooperation. Another possibility is some kind of class system with ability trade offs, i.g. a medic with increased healing ability who could carry a medical pack but lost a lot of space for carrying extra weapons and ammo, a mechanic who carries tools and can fix vehicles, an engineer who carries tools for fortifying buildings. Right now there is no real incentive for cooperation as equipment is the only thing that differentiates players and the easiest and fastest way to load up extra equipment is to kill someone that has already obtained it.
  13. Yea but what Im wondering is, does the vehicles only spawn once and then you have to wait on server restart for fresh spawns are do they spawn simular to loot.
  14. People do what gives them the most personal gain. Currently, that means shoot first to avoid any risk. While I can understand that some people enjoy this, you have to understand that it takes a whole subclass of possibilities away from the game. There really isnt that much incentive to play together in the first place. Now, I can only speak for me, but this gets boring over time. After six or so hours with my character it really does get boring and I would love to team up, but I wont, because there is a very high chance that I lose my hours of progress if I try to do so. Now, instead of making pvp more difficult or add negative consequences too it, why not incentivise teamwork and make the risk actually worthwhile? Currently, there are only two incentives for teamwork: blood transfusions and building vehicles. The last is so difficult that it doesnt happen that much anyway. We need more like this. There must be more things in the game that can only be done with multiple people (or, if done alone, take a long long time). Creating factions for example. Buiding a base and remove zombie spawn from a small area. Making bigger buildings. More items that can only be used together with other people. Infections from drinking bad water or eating bad food that can only be cured by other players. And so on. Some of these things have to be easy to achieve so that people actually think they can directly achieve it by teaming up. This way, you can still play lone wolf if you want, and survive, as long as you are super careful, you can still play bandit, but it now actually makes sense to group up. This would take away nothing from the current game, and you can still play it as it is now, but it would add new possibilites and new playstyles. And wouldnt fighting be more interesting if it wasnt always 1v1?

    found a running tank....

I'd be extremly careful with that. I haven't heard of any armoured vehicles so far, so this seems to be an asset that does not belong in the mod and was brought in by someone using a hack. There is a british assault rifle (L85A2 RIS CWS) and nvgs included in dayz but I'd be also cautious to pick them up since if the tank was illigally brought into the game, those items were as well. There is already someone on these forums who got banned for picking up cheated items. So leave them where they are to be sure. I hope, I could help.

    TX1 down?

Oh sorry forgot to say, I'm not sure why that has happened but tents, vehicles etc are not saved locally and are stored on the master database for DayZ. We don't have much control over this.
  17. If you have access to a Huey you can get in the pilot or crew chief seat to view the radar which will show near by vehicles.

    The PvP Discussion Thread

I think the main problem is that there isnt much incentive to play together with other people. People do what gives them the most personal gain. Currently, that means shoot first to avoid any risk. While I can understand that some people enjoy this, you have to understand that it takes a whole subclass of possibilities away from the game. When I started playing I always thought 'oh another player can I trust him, or not?' this tension is now gone, as I am better off just killing everybody. This way, you can still play lone wolf if you want, and survive, as long as you are super careful, you can still play bandit, but it now actually makes sense to group up. //EDIT// Now that I posted this I think it might actually need its own thread.
  19. Pretty much anywhere really. Here are places I have seen vehicles spawn: NE airbase: UAZ next to the air tower NE airbase: UAZ between the hangars Govzdno: White Hilux parked up beside a house near the barns Cherno: UAZ parked outside the international hotel I've heard of vehicles spawning: Outside the shops in Zelenogorsk Outside petrol stations Bikes / Quads at the green mountain radio tower
  20. Please, reboot NY2. Vehicles and tents r disappear again.

Bandits don't get punished, Survivors do...

When Arma 2 first released it caused a lot of butthurt in the CoD crowd. The controls are too difficult to learn, it's not optimized for a Pentium 2 / Voodoo 2 / 256mb RAM system, the vehicles make it impossible, the AI sucks, etc. Those complaints about the base game seem to mirror the complaints about darkness, not enough "teamwork" and so on in this mod. I predict in 2 month's time - max - this mod will mostly be over and you'll be searching for a "good" server to play in. One that, you hope, can routinely see 30+ players rather than spamming connections to 50/50 servers just trying to get in. That's just the cycle of gaming these days, it's not a comment on the dev team's (excellent) work.

    Dayz theme tune?

A-Team theme song...given the amount of time i spend fixing up vehicles (still no word on how to fix leaky choppers)

    What about ...

Any game mechanic that forces you to play is a bad one IMO. Although I think vehicles (especialy helicopters) that have been recovered by players (and well hidden) that haven't been moved for an extended period of time should despawn and respawn somewhere else broken.
  24. anyone have info on what happened to virginia 3 and when it will be back up? Will it still have the saved vehicles?
