    We got helicopters yet?

That's exactly why my little team just threw a bunch of boxes in the woods and called it a base lol. Helicopters ruined mod for me, and maps like Epoch... doesn't even feel like a survival game. It's one of the reasons I will never use expansion. At that point it becomes who has the most time/people to get one.

    The end of DayZ ?

Show me the proof that a subscription system will stop hackers. Show me any proof that hacking will slow down even remotely with a subscription system. Facts, not your opinion but facts and links to where it's solved the problem in other games. As you have insinuated before, opinions mean absolutely nothing. So show me definitive proof that a subscription system in a previous zombie survival FPS has solved their hacking problems and brought about the changes you proposed. In order for you make these accusations you must have absolute and unreputable proof that a previous survival genre game fixed the issue, so pony up. Take your time, I'll wait. One of the biggest issues if we had a subscription system for the game is how do you justify private servers? Public servers run by Bohemia would work fine however you're talking about a development team already down to a skeleton crew forking over more wages for CSM reps to look over every single hacking or cheating accusation thrown their way. The reason larger companies can deal with this Steam VAC, Blizzard, Daybreak and Activision (which I guess Blizzard falls under) is because they have the wages and funding to support those positions. Now throw into the mix Private run servers and you have an even bigger issue. Who polices private servers? The server admins like they do already? But with a sub system where does that money go? Shouldn't server owners get paid because they're doing the companies job or do they get wrote off as simply a risk of running a private server? Subscription sounds wonderful and as if it will solve anything but in fact it's just not feasible with an 8-10 man dev team and small staff overall.

    We got helicopters yet?

Good base building yet? Yes, and it's persistent. The damage that it takes to breach a wall is reasonable and zombies don't clip through them. Helicopters? Yes and no. As was mentioned above we gave base bones and very janky choppers added by DayZ expansion mod however they're not what we had in mod or anything created by Bohemia as was stated. PvP returned any? A lot of well known streamers have got into DayZ recently such as Shroud and they seem to think it's pretty solid.

    Hackers Got Me Again

I quit using public servers a long time before the hacker jihad began. I left because I wanted to find a server not plagued by server hoppers who were camping in to find chopper crashes. I went to private servers and even rented my own server and to this day have not gone back. A shameless plug for my own server but if you're looking for a home till then... doors open. Seriously though, I feel for you with the hacker thing and I know how frustrating it can be.

    The end of DayZ ?

First thing that comes up. Also retail servers have had an issue with hacking/hitting for months now. If you think a subscription system will stop people from hacking then you haven't got a clue. DayZ is a Free game outside paying initial costs. When they put your fix of a subscription base on it, then it really will be a ghost town. Only thing saving it now is free to play.

    The end of DayZ ?

So let me see if I understand this correctly. You think a subscription system will stop hackers? You do realize one of the largest MMOs on the market (World of Warcraft) has an issue with people running bots, speed hacking, fly hacking and so forth despite them having a subscription system correct? Also if you want to point and say, well that's not an FPS, then look at Planetside 2 which also despite being a sub game had hackers as well. Granted they also offer a free client but still.

Public (and press) reception of DayZ in 2020

Fucking love this game, love the content that gets put out. Thank you Dev's. We all appreciate you being a small team but we still love you.

    The end of DayZ ?

I don't normally toot the horn of DayZ on these forums... however.... DayZ in the current patch of 1.09 is in a better state then it ever was in any previous patch. I'll take glitchy cars over running down a stair well and flying off it to your death. We have almost, almost all the guns were previously lost including new ones. Currently the only weapons that are missing are: Crossbow Crafted Bow Steyr Aug Everything else that we previously didn't have in patches previous to this one have been restored. (No, we don't have the Longhorn, you got the Deaghorn now. Get used to it) Base building is in the strongest position it's been outside of modding. Hands down. Persistence works great now and we have so much we can do with base building that it's exciting to do it now. PvP is in a very good position now considering the past days of ghost bullets, ghost magazines, entire weapons jamming for whatever the hell reason, etc. I mean, they fixed the current Makarov bug where it would ruin in less then a magazine in less then 48 hours. There are minor, MINOR issues in the game right now that are causing small problems with gameplay. Yes, cars are in a strange place for some people because they can bug out, however, most of that is due to YOUR ping when you connect to a server with terrible latency. Most of the complaints I see from people now are from people connecting to servers with 20+ mods and they're crashing everything all to hell. I run a 100% vanilla server. It has no mods, no weird stuff, only a slightly adjusted loot table and honestly my server works great. We DO have people jumping on the server with over 200 ping and it's expected when their cars go absolutely ape shit, but nobody else has this problem. In conclusion, most of the problems people have with this game now are because they listen to streamers who actively piss on it and/or they play on servers that are modded all to hell. Yes, the hackers are a problem but you can't blame Bohemia for that because that's not their department, that's the department of Battle-eye.

    Question about hand placing

Yeah gonna go ahead and save you all the trouble. Don't click the link. Phishing attempt.
  10. tandwan

Will cars and lag ever be fixed?

Car issues with me tend to be completely server side and if my latency is good then usually the server is good to me. With that said i have Aussie players on my server who catch absolute hell due to 250+ ping to a stateside server. The issues can be anything from bouncing cars to cars warping and then teleporting under the ground for a brief moment. Best thing I can tell you is find a server that gives you under 100 ping and roll with it because 100 ping seems to be the break point for car fuckery.

    Leather Sewing.

At what point does the Leatherworking system not work? Is the stop point at crafting the tanned leather or is it 100% out of the game? I'd like to add leatherworking to the game or crafting leather outfits but I don't know if the entire system is out or just the tanning leather system. If it's just the leather tanning then I can fix that by adding tanned leather to the spawns and let nature take its course.

    Leather Sewing.

What is the stopping point for leather crafting? Is it making the leather, or actually crafting the pieces or what? I would love to add it to my vanilla server and give the guys a chance to craft gear but I don't actually know if the entire system is not implemented or just one part of it or ... help?

    Wolves

Extra wolves isn't really a mod thing, it's a server setting. You can adjust the number of wolves that spawn on any server by going into the config area. I've got my server (or had before 1.09) 6-12 wolves.

    Here we go again

So it's been a hot minute since I advertised this server but I figure I would give it a shot. I'm Tandwan, aka Spades, and I run DayZ Vanilla. The name says it all, were running a pure vanilla server that had slightly adjusted loot tables for some items. Nothing drastic that would take away from the game, just adding things like green weapon attachments, camo attachments, camo Mosin and so forth. This server requires no mods at all and furthermore it's a private server so you can rest assured that you won't have server hoppers bothering you. The server is PvP, not PvE, and it's sandbox just like a vanilla server on public. So why would you play on my server over a public hive? Admin support, a community discord and a normal playerbase. But don't take my word for it, come try it yourself. 192.169.93.59 Port 2424 And join our discord : https://discord.gg/b85DjJr Hope to see you there and good luck.

So if I add tanned pelts back into the CLE would it work?

Official servers all players use Hack!!!!

I don't believe I ever said it wasn't a problem. Let me check : Yep, I actually acknowledged the fact that hackers are a problem on live and the servers are overrun. As for them setting an example? Of what? How the game is supposed to be? Of how hackers can destroy a video game? Of how Battle-eye needs to wake up and smell the coffee? Well I mean, yeah I think I eluded to that too in my posts. However, with all of that said, shitting all over Bohemia because the anti-hack they decided to use can't keep up with hackers isn't the way to do things. Going by your account creation date you know good and well that DayZ, even when it was Dean Halls baby, had a bad rap with hackers. Script kiddies ruined the game in Arma 2, and in Arma 3 they had the same issue. BUT... but...with all of this said I want to say again. The option to go to a community server until Battle-eye gets this under control is up to the players on live. If they wish to stay on live servers and complain then by all means do so. Their act of martyrdom will effect no-one, so they should probably think about their future in playing DayZ. Let me tell you something my father said when I stuck my hand in the fire and got burned once : Oh, hurt like hell didn't it? I'll bet you won't do that again will you. Live server players are getting burned over and over and over again and yet they have not taken a hint to get out of the fire. /shrug I got nothing.

Official servers all players use Hack!!!!

Edit: Of course live servers are overrun with hackers. Why the hell do you think people moved to community? Sitting and complaining about it will solve piss all except give the hackers the sense of acknowledgment that they destroyed your gaming experience. Again, you play this game for your enjoyment, not for the enjoyment of others. Harsh, but true. You can dwell on the past or face the music. If the game is unplayable due to hacking on live then move off live and find a community server. I can't force anyone to do anything, but if I knew the grass was greener on the other side then I'd get to stepping. It's the truth, no matter how hard you shade it. As for admins being corrupt on someone's community server? Move on! Plenty of servers that are open and have admins willing to take you in. However, if you want to be a martyr then by all means, carry on.

Official servers all players use Hack!!!!

Ok? Is someone holding a gun to your head? Find another server. If you don't like a server then leave. People fanboy YouTube content creators and twitch streamers and follow them all over the place. If you don't like something that's going on on a server then quit and move somewhere else.
  19. Dude, was it absolutely necessary to necro this thread? I get it, you didn't get what you wanted with this game. Duly noted. But Christ this kind of witch hunt is an obsession. Bohemia messed up, and I do believe everyone is well aware of that, including Bohemia. Many players out there (including myself) who play the game and enjoy it don't focus on the bad anymore we focus on the fun we have and the experiences we build from what we have. If we want more, we mod it, it's pretty simple. OH BUT THE MODS SHOULD BE CONTENT AND THAT'S A COP-OUT! Granted, I would like to see some of the things that mods are doing be put into the game, but I do understand that with a limited studio, Bohemia is doing what they can. Furthermore, it's not the fault of the DayZ devs that their studio was downsized it was the fault of their upper echelons deciding to cut funding for a smaller community. That's how business's work, you see? If it's not bringing in the revenue they expect then they limit the damage so the company can continue to prosper. With that said, I just look to the content creators out there to add additional content that I can cherry pick and add to my server as wanted. We don't complain about it not being official because, well, that's what a modding community is for. Games such as Fallout and the Elder Scrolls series have extensive modding communities and in truth the content they put out absolutely revolutionizes the game in some aspect. Hell, there were modders for Skyrim who created COMPLETELY new games out of the engine they were given but I don't blame Todd Howard because some of those mods are amazing, I applaud the content creators. The games been out for seven years and there are still major bugs in it! That's laziness on the part of the dev's! Bugs will be bugs. You will find them and they happen. You may die to them, that's why they're bad. Is it the fault of the Devs that there are bugs in here that are from back a long time ago? Probably. Does it help to beat the shit out of an already dead horse? No, no it does not. What this thread does is like bringing up a mistake someone made from several years back. "Hey Bill, remember that time three years ago when you burned out my CD player in my car? That was bad, huh?" "Hey Bill, remember when you dropped that 32 count of eggs in my front yard? Wow that was pretty awful, right?" The horse is dead, beating it doesn't do anything but make you feel better. We all know this game has bugs, glitches, and exploits. Yes, they should be fixed... however see above. Small community and they can only work on so much as one time. Needless to say, this isn't a front line title anymore, it's not even a second grade title. DayZ is a title that extends to a niche of players who are loyal to it and will continue to play it despite other games coming up. That's why we still have those bugs. The hacking community has gone absolutely mad with new hacks and it's destroying the game! Why don't the DayZ devs do something about that, huh? You know the difference between a hacker and the DayZ devs? The dev has to fix a lot of things in the game at once while the hacker has to fix only one. The dev has to repair, place models, implement sounds, animations, damage models, etc, etc. The hacker just has to combat battle-eye and beat it. In truth, a lot of the major issues with the hackers aren't something the devs can fix, but it falls in the lap of Battle-eye because that's the anti-cheat system this game uses to stop these people. Once the hacker has the trainer that he will use to break into the game it's done, he's happy with it except when adding one or two new QoL improvements. After that, it's simply beating Battle-eye over and over again to get his trainer to work in the game. That's it, easy peasy. Again, this isn't really a Dev issue but they take the ass chewing for it regardless. Witch hunts and anti-propaganda don't accomplish anything. They actually hurt the community and believe it or not discourage the Dev's. What would you feel like if your game you sunk so much heart and soul into was constantly shit on by an ungrateful playerbase who did nothing but spit and rant whenever something wasn't the way they wanted? Personally, I would have went ape-shit at the people here a LONG time ago.

Official servers all players use Hack!!!!

See above. We're not even joking. Find a community server (like mine) and play there. You will not have a hacker issue because... well... they get banned! On live you have to worry about Battle.eye doing it for you, or the dev's, or someone. Private servers admins want to keep people playing there so they're quick to fix it.
  21. Ok so here's my issue in a nutshell. I downloaded the Tigr vehicle off the steam workshop. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1744599205&searchtext= Awesome, all the parts spawn where I want them to and everything seems to work fine except for one issue. The car, for some reason, spawns in the trunks of police cars and of course this immediately destroys the car. Now, I went and looked through my database and there is nothing in there that shows where the TIGR should spawn in a police area. I checked all the spawn locations for the vehicle, they're all correct in the database and in fact none of them are where this thing is showing up currently on my map. Now what I need is : If this thing is spawning in police car trunks then that means it should be in the types.xml, right? I should be able to find it in types.xml and change that so it doesn't do that, however it's not IN types.xml. Is that not the right area? Am I looking in the wrong spot?
  22. So I got to thinking about a mod. Number stations. A station that plays the music/ noise of a number station over a handheld radio all the time on a certain station. Could this be done? Is this something that can be done through the confines of the game?
  23. We're looking for information on where you go to set this. We've looked all over but there's a very strong chance we're overlooking it. Anyone wanna point us in the right direction? Second question, is there any way on the server side of things to disable client personal light on players so they don't have them on at all times? We're playing a hardcore server and it really takes away from the server having these on at all times.
  24. So first off I try to stay quiet on these forums. I don't chime in unless I have something to say and even then I normally don't post it because most people just don't want to hear it. You want a perfect game and you want it right now and the bottom line is you are an entitled to more from this game because you paid for it. So let me tell you the facts. First, Bohemia cares, or at least someone there does, but the company as a whole is so understaffed that they can't push a fix out for the hackers. My data comes from reading their most recent report in which they said they're only going to push out 4 updates a year or something like that. If you played in the mod, like a couple of us did, then you know hackers are nothing new to the game and in fact were a major problem back then as well. You know what most of us did to fix the hacking problem back then? We went to private servers. You know why we went to private servers? Well, for one, mods that were really good and added to the game. Second, the fact that private server owners were fighting for communities and thus were johnie on the spot for taking care of hacking issues, or exploiters. Private server owners WANT you to play on their server, and with that said are ACTIVELY trying to fix problems such as people duping, speed hacking, glitching, and all that. The public servers right now, and actually always have been, like taking public transportation. Yes, you will get where you want to go, but you're probably going to have to deal with some nonsense along the way. People telling you : 'Go to private servers' are in fact not copping out. We have dealt with this before and we know private servers are probably going to be the fix you want instead of just slamming your head against the wall with public servers. At this point, you know the hacking is bad on the servers and yet you continue to play there. You scream at Bohemia for a fix when let's be fair here, it took them about a year to fix you not running down stairs fast and killing yourself. TLDR; If you want to stay on the public hives and try to play against the players who are hacking, then yes go right ahead. You are hurting yourself and nobody else at this point when the easy fix is to take your entire crew to a private server, start fresh, and be a part of a community.
  25. Good choice. I know my words may seem harsh but truthfully this game is only as frustrating as you let it be. I gave up on live servers a long time ago. I've been on private ever since, never really looked back primarily because of duping, hacking, and the refusal of Bohemia to do anything about it except after long months of silence. This games awesome, but hackers kill it. Private servers with IP ban abilities make it a lot, lot better. Enjoy
