  2. It is way past overdue that the HUD is made more customisable. I would like to be able to play with the HUD completely hitten yet still get widgets for actions, such as crafting, opening doors etc. This should be a separate option. Vehicle HUD showing while HUD is otherwise disabled has been a thing ever since last time devs fiddled with HUD logic. Funny how they create a new bug by twiddling with a feature (and reverting the change after feedback), then leave the bug thus created in for over a year... Also, yet another assault rifle? Please... The game is saturated with military weaponry as is, it really doesn't need any more, especially considering there is still a bunch of civilian weapons from legacy missing. Where's the Red9, Rak, pistol grip shotgun and the Trumpet? Where's the bow? Where's the leather crafting and dyeing? Speed loaders? Bipod? I just wish the legacy stuff still missing had a little more priority. But hey, at least there is chainmail... Other than that, some nice fixes and changes in these patch notes. Will be interesting to see how the recoil changes feel in-game.

    A great list as always! A few comments: 3) Quick access: You should also never be able to put items on the hotbar that are in a backpack. 11) Melee blocking. Imo blocking a hit should consume stamina, if low on stamina you would either be unable to keep blocking, or it would start to let some damage (and cuts) through. About suggestion 54, I would want to complement that, weapon melee - with or without bayonets - really needs a light attack that can be used even if low on stamina. The situation when you are unable to attack due to weapon raised and low stamina is extremely frustrating, since you are completely helpless. Swapping to another (melee) weapon is likely going to take too much time and get you killed or knocked out. So: a light attack with lower damage and no knock back would be logical.

    Indeed. Sniping from a prone position is basically only possible from a level floor because of this.

    100% agree, I hate that change. It was made only to appease whinging pvp players who kept moaning they were being killed by zombies when unconned in firefights. Instead of fixing it so zeds go for the shooter instead of his unmoving victim, the devs did this... First and foremost caving to the loud crowd who only play DayZ for guns and glory is weak, and the action that was taken was truly the easy way out. Please guys, make an effort revert this change this year and rework how zombies prioritise targets instead. OR: Simply make them only hit players unconned after hit by an infected. Damage source is logged so that would definitely be possible. Will give you a chance to escape if shot and/or passing out from blood loss. Edit: By the way - Liven's PvZMod Customisable Zombies can enable it again. That guy's mod has features that can make zombies close to what they should be in this game.

    Shouldn't the launcher being borked beyond hope be mentioned among the Known Issues? Players who don't follow twitter, twitch etc probably have no idea. At the moment I'd say it is the single worst issue the game has, not even listing it among Known Issues gives the impression you just don't give a toss. "Official tab not affected, who cares huhuh go use DZSA like everyone else." Now I know that's not how you guys think - but that is the impression you are giving. Acknowledge the issue!

    The browser has been fudged for weeks, long before 1.20. Started some time in January, I'm not entirely sure the launcher actually broke at all (beyond just being slow and awkward as usual) but that it is simply incapable of handling a few thousand spoofed Chinese servers all returning badly configured data at queries. So what they need to do in the short term perspective is just bite the bullet and change the method of how the vanilla launcher scans for servers. They need to make it download a cached list (like DZSA uses) and work from there with improving filter options. And make it stop forgetting favourites! Edit: Oh look at my number of posts, I can't ever write on this forum again!

    So far 1.20 seems to have made them much more stable than they were in 1.19. I've been driving a lot tonight and I have had none of the lag jumps and sudden lurches that happened all the time last patch. Dunno what they've done, but it is a lot better.

    Zeds don't even kill you - if you get swarmed they'll knock you out and walk out. I have a mod making them knock down doors (you can slow them down by locking the door) and it is way more fun than otherwise. It's a stress factor connected to the zeds that is desperately needed - because as easy to cheese as they are now, they are very un-fun without the feature.
  11. Agreed. This influx of fake servers from China have completely bogged down the launcher to the extent that its scanning doesn't work. It takes ages - I mean ages - to make a complete scan and it still doesn't find half the community servers that exist - but it shows literally thousands of identical Chinese servers that are somehow magically full or high pop every single one... My servers have been invisible on the launcher for two weeks now, and population is what you can expect from that.

    If you need to ask that there is probably no answer that will make you care, but I will try anyway. The sky is part of the visual presentation of the game, and the current sky looks bad - really bad. And because of that it makes the game as a whole look dated, because the skybox is a low quality pixel mush that could be taken straight from some 1990:s shooter. Interestingly, during the entire alpha stage and initial release - until the 1.02 patch specifically - the game had great looking skies. Volumetric clouds interact with lighting in a way that two-dimensional textures (as are currently used) simply can't. With 2D clouds light diffusion is severely limited and there can be no shadows from the clouds - while volumetric clouds can obscure the sun and stars creating varied lighting conditions depending on the weather. In the current weather model all that happens is that the ambient lighting is slightly affected by the % of overcast, since there are no "real" clouds there can be no other interaction. In the 1.02 patch the simulweather sky was ripped out and replaced with the current flat textures. This was made because low-end systems (blame consoles...) had performance issues, and due to this the weather was often desynced creating situations where every player in a group would see different weather - while on the server it could be something else entirely. Examples are ghost rain - you get wet even though the sky is clear - or pouring rain that doesn't get you wet. At that stage in the game's post release development the team didn't have time or resources to deal with the issue, so they simply ripped the clouds out. The decision was understandable, but ultimately it made the game look worse.

    The launcher is having some problems at the moment. You might have noticed that it will display literally thousands of nearly identical Chinese servers, most with unlikely high player slots and spoofed population (they show as full or high pop in the launcher although they are empty). It seems like all the fake and/or badly configured data these servers are sending to the launcher simply clogs it down so it can't complete its scan. Hence lots of legit servers will not show up at all - including my own and several known and popular high population servers. The only solution for the moment is to direct connect - and get booted for not having the right mods - find the server in the "Recent" tab and put it as favorite. Scanning for favourites in turn works as normal. I believe the devs are very aware of this problem so hopefully there will be a fix soon. Am I correct @Kyiara?

    As clarification to the OP I can add to that simulweather was not only removed from the game, but the supporting code enabling it has been removed too. I was informed of this when I approached a modder to try and mod the proper clouds in. The current game engine simply does not support them, there are references and leftover comments here and there, but no there is no easy way to get them back. And it is a damn shame.

    Aye, it is a dead horse I return to beating once in a while. I know Adam has said it will not be done, and I am aware of the reasons the volumetric clouds were removed in 1.02 - and they were very valid at the time. However! The team really should take a close look at some of the mods modifying the skybox and lighting that have appeared, and take inspiration to make what improvements are possible. You even mentioned Lad's Lighting Overhaul in the Community Spotlight so it is obvious you are aware they exist - so there is really no valid reason for the vanilla game to still have such bland lighting and skybox. It can be vastly improved even without putting volumetric clouds back in, so why not do that? As for the proper volumetric clouds, I am confident a way to eventually implement them in some way can be found - at the very least you could explore a way to make it possible to add with mods. Because, to be perfectly honest, the Skybox in DayZ is extremely low quality as is, keeping it unchanged should not even be an alternative.
  16. And it should not protect you from neither animals nor zombies if it has no damn doors or windows! The PvZMod does this brilliantly, running zombies over will ruin the radiator, and zombies can gang up on a vehicle and smash it - and its occupants - to pieces.

    Confusing title, considering your suggestion, but yes - most would agree the game needs a bigger variety of mostly civilian but also military clothes. Apart from witch hoods and the recent improvised rag clothes, I don't think there's been anything added since 1.0 basically. I'd prefer a sizeable pack of various clothes before more guns, definitely.
  18. Easy answer to that honestly - many many players have been nagging without pause for the Payday masks to be put back in the game. They were however ripped out once DayZ hit 1.0, for licensing reasons, and since BI aren't likely to hawk up licence money for some silly bandit masks they opted to make new ones instead. I will never use them myself, I think they're silly and out of place, but rest assured but they will be heavily used by players living out their psycho killer fantasies.

  20. So "adjusted" in this case equals "removed"? You can now walk through barrels as if they are not there... While this will certainly frustrate base raiders and save the odd vehicle, it is not a good change. What happened with those "heavy object physics" you were working on two (or is it three???) years ago. For one build in one experimental, barrels would roll downhill (and servers crash...), having vehicles' mass actually trumping that of the barrel to send it flying would be just a tad more elegant than making it immaterial.

  23. Body lifetimes are bugged as fudge, yet when testing internally the devs have been unable to confirm this, so despite multiple tickets on the subject they have gotten nowhere with it. There is a workaround however - add each survivor model's classname to types.xml and set their lifetime to whatever you want it to be. Server restarts will still clear dead bodies, no way around that, but in this manner you can get bodies to at least remain until next server restart. Which means you get to see their decomposition stages, which are practically never seen since bodies despawn as soon as you turn your back...     ENFUSION Engine Update for DayZ?

    That's what we think, but for BI it is different. Arma is their baby, DayZ is the obnoxious but successful side show that keeps the business running. Judging by how they have treated the dev team over the years - and the decision to force the very premature 1.0 release in 2018 - BI were fully prepared to let DayZ die quietly. The community and dev team have however made sure it didn't die - and now BI will happily let it have just enough support to keep going and finance Arma 4. That's my tinfoil hat comment of the day... As for DayZ in Enfusion, it will never happen with DayZ 1.X, but if and when BI decide to make a sequel we might see DayZ 2 in Enfusion some day. But I think we'll have Arma 4 and a DayZ mod for that long before that happens.

    My main question regarding the 1.19 vehicle changes is why they destroyed the M3S. It finally got a much needed buff to the highest gear giving it a more reasonable (close to RL too) top speed around 60 km/h. BUT of course that can't come without a drawback, so they completely destroyed its offroad capabilities and it can barely make it uphill anymore. It used to be the offroad king, now I just use it for storage. So - were these changes to the M3S intentional, or is it just another symptom of the botched vehicle changes in 1.19? Edit: Ohyeah, also when reversing all vehicles oversteer like crazy, it is almost impossible to control it when reversing. Why is this?
