  1. I see a few familiar faces in here still... Just got started back in DayZ again after a long hiatus and figured I'd get reacquainted to the forums to see if they existed what with Reddit being more prominent than it was back then. Back in the day I rolled with a group that called ourselves the "Helpy Helpers" that patrolled the coast looking for freshies to escort through contested areas and protect them from the armed filth that killed them for sport. Got about 12 hours in since my return and a lot has changed but a lot is still the same. One of the factors I'm most dismayed to see is still a thing is microstutters representing a variety of things from large mounds of loot (bases), zombie / infected spawns (whatever) and players in proximity. I can't write notes to people anymore, spray paint isn't a thing... can't capture rain water in a water container and vehicles are still absurdly awkward and clunky. But I can still come over a hill and see a large city looming on the horizon and get butterflies in my gut from both anticipation and apprehension in a fashion no other game can manage. There's a game meta that has never been matched with a versatility that is unique to DayZ- in my experience anyway and I'm pretty stoked to be getting back into it. Anyway just thought I'd wade back into the conversation and say hello again. Any "Helpy Helpers" still out there doing the do?
  2. I don't think I've ever experienced as many disconnects / unstable connection / lost connection with server / server not responding errors in almost 2500 hours in this game. From early access, through that tiny beta and into stable for the 3 days I played before I gave up from glitches that either killed me or wiped my gear... This has been awful and in a server I reliably see a ping of 60-70 on what I'm confident enough to say is not a network issue on my end. I've recently come back in looking forward to a stable, reliable experience and so far the experience has been plagued by connection errors. My main squad mate lives practically next door to the server and he gets disco'd more than I do. I think you guys need to flush out your head gear- we get new backpacks for this upcoming update? How about some system stability on your own servers? This is really bad but maybe I'm the idiot for expecting anything different and trying to play through it.

Back after a 5 year break...

Oh man the number of times I let my guard down just to get taken for a ride... Wow.

    So let's talk clothes!

Hooooooooooooly fuck dude- turn the need down a notch. Go eat an apple... or a person- I don't give a fuck but wow. Turn the psycho down.

    Cruelty in Dayz

Sorry... if there ever was a real apocalypse I'd kill you first- but not until I'd mercilessly abused your usefulness. Assuming of course you have any. Judging by some of your other comments I think it's time for you to find that Y chromosome and tear some shit down.

    Update 1.04??

You're new here so for future reference "Soon" means "at some point sooner than never but not so soon as yesterday."
  7. ... when I meet a stranger, murder them with a shovel and chop them into little bits with a stone knife so that I can force feed the corpse to their reincarnated face. *Not recommended in public.
  8. So I go back to my original question- are you just so proud of yourself for noticing that the engine models are the same that you feel you need to make a big deal about it or does this similarity actually impact your game play experience so much that you broke 2 years of silence in the forums to address it? Rhetorical.
  9. Reason enough for the dev team I guess. Want to maybe pick the fuck out of the fact that it takes 40L of oil to run the vehicles? Or maybe that my character and that of another character are EXACTLY the same? Or that there are only about 15 zombie models? Question for you- do you just want everyone to be amazed at the fact that you noticed the engine models are the same or do you actually feel like different engine models will change the game- in the state it's in- in some awe inspiring way?
  10. You noticed that about 90% of the structures, ruins and trees in the whole game are the same too, right?

Is this game officialy dead ?

Agreed: "Sometimes we can't just do what we love; sometimes we must do what is required."
  12. You can't "bind" anything to "turn left" either and yet you can "turn left" just fine. No need to go flying down the "I wasted my money train" just yet... Why you invested in it now is totally beyond me but here you are so here we go: Go into the game library on steam, go into DayZ properties (right click on the title) and verify game files integrity or whatever its called. Don't remove anything when it asks- just go past that when it asks. I don't remember the exact path into it but seems to me it's reasonably easy and doesn't involve any right turns. Anyway- go in and do that... then try it again. There's probably a way to go in and delete your keybindings file completely and force the game to recreate it on the next boot... or you can just reinstall.

Is this game officialy dead ?

I don’t disagree that everyone needs time off... but this whole “new and improved” communication schedule is garbage. It makes otherwise civilized people expect unreasonable things like coming in to network on days off. Because they often don’t do it on days on. And as many times as you’ve made me eat my words @Max Planck, I’m not sure that anyone can tell me that their new communication strategy is working as intended. I’m certain I don’t need to actually quote the community update that said specifically that communication needs to be improved but I would be absolutely delighted to paste it all over this fucking thread to make the point. Because I can say as a passionate member of this community that it is worse now than it has ever been other than the fact it isn’t making unrealistic promises it can’t keep because they are saying nothing at all. The notion that they are under promising and over delivering is another rubber dick because they aren’t saying anything and as a result doing anything at all above nothing is in fact “over delivering.” Im exhausted with making excuses for this title just to try and help keep people playing it. I think it’s someone else’s turn to deliver.

    no sense

Sorry bud... that's pretty much the game. People are bored so safe entertainment is getting a bunch of buddies together to go and kill fresh spawns in old and non-creative ways.
  15. It's definitely the biggest thorn in my side... and when I used to click on that "I agree" or "I understand" button every time I played I was relinquishing my right to be mad about whatever happened to me in game in the interest of progress. Now, there's no button. And I'm mad. And have the right to be.

    Leaving Backpacks on ground

I think this is the more current version:

    Leaving Backpacks on ground

That’s a very old link- unless it’s accurate for Xbox that’s an old pc reference and had been changed significantly.

    How was your Day(Z)?

I was working with Chili in Svet looking for some stragglers to helpy help out and did stumble into a guy who fit the bill. Just a random fresh guy who was trying to meet up with some friends. He didn't know much about the game but knew enough to stay moving. Wasn't too sure about voice coms initially but I got him through it and we started chatting as I took him over to the well. Seemed like a nice guy, and I think he truly was. He ended up walking past a zombie and aggro'd it... and as we were dealing with that one a few more joined in. I ended up shooting some with a silenced pistol- which worked to drop zombies while also alerting more across an alarming radius. We headed off for the protection of a building closer to the water well since I knew he was going to need to drink and though I had containers to give him they were all empty. We hid initially in a building by the church and then made a break for one further west. This video demonstrates "How my DayZ" was. Probably should put a "graphic language" warning on it... Things did not end well.

Trying to find the server owner

Maybe look in the server section of the forums?
  20. I’ll never take away from the fact that the game delivers in a way few if any others can- but man I wish we’d known 3 years ago where this train wreck was going to end up because I would have put another 1000 hours in then and appreciated it.
  21. I went in and read for a bit but all I saw was “this is the way it’s going to be” followed by a bunch of valid and in many cases well thought out feedback resulting in 0 change. And they don’t do this anymore. ‘Nuff said.

    Stable Update 1.02

In one breath it’s how many people. Then how many PROGRAMMING hours with emphasis like anyone gives a shit. Go ahead and just say their communication is on par with whatever number even you are too lazy to look up. Bored with your riddles.

    Server hopping/Base building

No need to dismantle anything... you can just server hop back out. Leaves less of a trail. But yeah I agree it's a major sticking point for the whole concept of base building- To avoid it currently the only solution is to play on a community server outside of the official hive.

    Stable Update 1.02

Sadly their version of not over promising means not sharing anything.
