  2. Happened to me the other night too as well as a friend I was playing with- respecting the 15 second rule. We were locked out for about 30 minutes at which point we gave up. That was pc side mind you so suffice to say we have our struggles with it as well.

  5. Yeah except that the “even playing field” for many was dumping the server and going to one that was daylight. Now they’ve gone to some lit aura around a person... probably too far to the left. Make a soft skill adjusted night vision- play more at night... see better at night. I can grow a beard in 5 minutes... let me see better in the dark if that’s how I play. This night light aura is childish spoon feeding to a very vocal group of malcontents... me included to a point but I found my own workaround so I don’t give a fuck. What I do care about is the fact that the game still doesn’t reward anyone for letting it play out. Soft skills are useless... nothing is actually worth anything. Maybe it’s on the 2019 roadmap they’ll figure out by 2020. Hindsight.

    Awesome. Wait the 15 seconds- I learned that much over my 2000+ hours... thanks tips. The guy I was running with and I both couldn’t get in- for about 30 minutes. We dumped the session and went to play candy crush instead. I dont know what this whole “locked in database” thing is supposed to achieve if we’re already waiting a minute and a half to join a server... but I’m not sure it’s quite on target. Could use some fine tuning.

  11. Curious how everyone feels about the how the "improved direct communication across all channels" is going? I'm in the "Bad to worse" category- if only because I expect more from a group that selfishly dumped a full release game on us at Christmas time for financial gain and retained all the early access bullshit. They claim "We'll talk about it when it's ready" which judging by the lack of communication suggests they're still trying to figure out the roadmap as we approach April. This poll isn't about trolling the devgroup or the community moderators as much as to provide a tool to measure how this "improved communication across all channels" is working out.

    I'm confused. None of the things you point out here changed. Nothing added any value to your character save for the fact that you can grow a full beard in 5 minutes. Keeping in mind this was something they introduced to add some sense of "experience" on your character. Zombies were glitchy af in populated servers then... they still are now. There may be a couple more zombies... which doesn't really matter since they still glitch all over the fucking place as soon as you get 20 or more people in a server. Sense of danger? How is that different? Back then you could be alone with one other guy on a server, walk around a corner straight into him and eat a bullet. Now you can be alone with one other guy on a server, walk around a corner straight into him and eat a bullet. The one thing that did change significantly was the stamina bar which, in your story, merely prevented you from doing what you wanted to do: meet your friends on the other edge of the map. So let me know how enjoyable your first PVP experience is on a glitchy high pop server after you complete your 10 hour journey to meet up with your friends and you get killed after getting stuck in a doorway while seeking cover and mauled to death by zombies 5 feet away from your character.

    DeSpawn to Respawn CHEATERS!

    If you had a 15 second spawn in timer like we have a 15 second spawn out timer- where your character is just sitting or standing there defenseless this would deter that type of action. I also don't mind a backpedal of a random time between 30 seconds and a few minutes... things change so fast during times where hopping is even viable to use in PVP that nobody is gaining anything by waiting around in another server for the 90 seconds we already end up needing to wait for EVERY change as well as time on top of that. (Edit: I'm a PC guy so I don't know if you guys have the same delays we do for spawning out and changing servers.) I also like the spawn radius... which would help reduce the effectiveness of people ghosting into bases on the public official side. The combination of these 3 simple features would minimize abuse of the combat logging / base ghosting / server hopping meta and while not completely eliminating any of them would surely create an unattractive inconvenience when compared to just playing things out as intended- ie: Fight the fight / break in / run around.

    Doesn’t even sound like it’ll be on experimental soon so don’t hold your breath. If they say they don’t have a stable build in pre experimental the buildings are probably upside down, the Riffy wreck is now the Ferris wheel from Pripyat and the green mountain antenna in the shape of a giant dildo. They have some work to do.

    Console Noob help

    I gave a friend my first gen i7 950, 9 gigs of ram, gtx680 and an ssd with a 650W power supply and he says the game runs fine. Lower graphic detail probably but it would work on a budget. I would t recommend that personally since they are older components and you can probably do better. I run it on an i7 6700k, 16GB of ram, 1080ti, nvme drive and also a 650W PS and it also runs fine- probably a tad overkill for DayZ. Choose your own adventure.

    How was your Day(Z)?

    One of our guys was working on an NL server a little while back and reported that there was a rather large base starting to sprout up at the mil tents just west of Svet... I went over to check it out as he came back from further west. I logged in just west of the location in a bush closer to the little ... market type building there with the blue shutters... and IMMEDIATELY it sounded like gunshots right on top of me. I began my evasive routine west (ASDWDASDAWDASDAWDADAWAWDAWDAWD) and tried to keep some bush between me and my inner ear where it sounded like the shots came from. Shooting slowed to intermittent and I wasn't hearing "cracks" but I didn't stop until I got up over the tracks to the south and into enfilade from defilade. From there I moved into a better OP to take a look around. Sure enough, a substantial base had been erected, including a 2 story tower to the south with a roof, mostly closed in and two rows of fence posts (no planks) around it on the ground generally blocking off the north side of the tents too. There were no stairs providing access to either platform so it was pretty obvious that someone just parked his dude up there and used some plank stacking glitch to move in. The mil tents would be ripe for farming if they ever really generated anything remarkable... but you could stack up on .45 ammo if you needed it. On closer inspection a less substantial tower had been built on the north side as well- I don't recall if there were stairs to that one. Things were quiet. For a good, long while. No movement... I couldn't tell if someone was in the tower- it was enclosed to the south and the open area covered with camo betting where I was looking. Of course my hunter scope, binoculars, range finder (any handheld optics) don't work (fuck sakes) so I did what I could with my attached scope. Nothing visible and my guy concurred from his overwatch position when he arrived. I sprinted across to the north, keeping the base to my right and eventually made my way up the rocky side, staying south of the road that heads up towards the radio antenna. I found myself a nice little perch that provided some view as well as some cover from the road. I made some observations to my partner who assured me nobody was visible to him, either. That didn’t last long- within a minute of arrival I heard some pretty loud footsteps approaching from the east, just behind me. I saw what I thought was an SVD / VSD with modified silencer on the end sticking up like a radio antenna from the player’s back… and the proximity to the military tents switched me into Helper Skelter mode. The character stopped briefly just within my view, then continued down towards the tents- skipping over the guardrail and heading down towards one of the buses where he stopped again. “I still can’t see him-“ my partner indicated. In hindsight I do regret not challenging the guy first and taking control of the situation, letting it play out the way it can- sometimes. Admittedly I was in reasonable cover- but we were right on top of one another. Adding to it I was dealing with a ~200 ping… VSD on his back with it not being entirely clear through my scope and while being in the vicinity of the military space I elected to shoot him in the back and killed him without saying anything. Not my proudest moment. I checked on his corpse shortly afterwards and I was surprised to see it was an SKS on his back- not the VSD I thought I’d seen. He was carrying a sub gun internally, .45 FX too (if memory serves) so he was ready for some fighting. Looked like a youtuber I’d seen recently who was posting from Berezino, actually… so not sure if I ruined his stream or not but that could have been just a coincidence that they looked the same. I haven’t been back to that server yet to check on the base but it’s had a lot of work put into it and if you wanted to go looking for a fight you’d probably find one there.
