  1. Gonna a have to totally agree with IMT. Play on first person servers. It completely balances the gameplay, as you dont have to worry about who is watching you behind an object.

Always be moving. Never stop moving if you can avoid it. If you have to stop moving for any reason make sure you are concealed. I cant tell you hie many times prey has gotten away from me because I couldn't risk the shot and they were not a static target. Overall, being slow or taking too long in DayZ is a death sentence.

  2. So several times yesterday I encountered a player on a public 3P server, and shortly after I encountered then and took some pot shots at them, the server magically either reset or I was forced to disconnect. One time happened twice with the same person on prison island.

Has anyone else experienced this? I dont think it has to do with server reset times and being unlucky, as the first person it happened with I reconnected and everything was exactly the same, then it happened again when I re-engaged him.

😄 We really could have a conversation about the importance of food gathering and processing and how much of the player's time it should take, considering various goals which the player can strive for (from "barely not starving" to "well-fed to the point where it should increase stamina and other stats"). But if you have trouble understanding why this survival game should be about survival if there are so many other survival games, I guess we won't have that conversation, after all.

And you hear it for the 5th time - if it takes that much effort for you just to barely stay alive, you're doing it wrong. Find a shovel, tell it "I'm sorry I ignored you so long" and use it properly to your advantage. That human metabolism runs much faster in this game has a flip side - everything works like that, from fracture healing to plant growing. Find a shovel and some seeds, use them together, reap the harvest within 10 minutes (the devs shortened it right now). You hate farming and find it boring - fine. Every second tree in a town drops a pear, find a tree and eat a fruit, how hard that can be?

I'm not quite sure what you were trying to communicate in this rant, but...shovels or something? Side note, you have to first FIND A SHOVEL in order to do anything you're talking about. You make it sound like they fall out of the sky.

My point is I've been playing this game since launch. The development direction has shifted so many times I lost count. My point is I'm happy you dont die of starvation in a ridiculously short amount of time. My point is for some reason some people want this game to be a camping simulator and I'm not sure why.

I'm only clarifying these points because I really have no clue what you're trying to say.

I wanna talk about some building bugs I met in 1.03, I think the others had seen those bugs too in this patch.
1.When I put a barbed wire through the door, it will stuck at the door’s position whether you open it or close it, and the character get hurt by the stuck barbed wire, that means you cannot see it on the ground but the wire is there to hurt you. And my character was dead because of it. Now I don’t think I will add barbed wire to the door. I suppose the wire should go with the door while opening instead of stuck at the door original position?
    2. If you build two doors connected to each other, one will be bug and cannot put a lock on it.
    3. Barbed wire again! If you have added barbed wire to the wall or doors and you want to move it to your inventory, the game will crash everytime. I don’t know it’s me or others would have the same situation.

  5. I'm just not sure why you all are so stuck on the "survival" element of the game. I personally think the hunger system as it is is fantastic. Maybe it could use some slight tweaking in the other direction to moderately ramp up the difficulty, but there is so much more to the game than trying not to starve.

This was honestly one of my biggest concerns for years. People want to turn this game into some kind of Dark Souls for scavenging and not dying of starvation.

Really the main reason a lot of you are even complaining about this, in my opinion, is due largely because there is still a crap ton of content missing from the game after 5 years.

There are plenty of other survival sims out there that are actually suited to such a gameplay. The thing that made this game initially successful from its inception was the P2P interaction, and the fact it had some zombies in it.

    Just my 2 cents.

Last time my character was hungry, it was in 2018 and this was when I returned to play dayZ after a long break.

Unfortunately, the only skill you need today to "survive" dayZ is to aim right.

I'm a huge fan of this personally. A large portion of this community from the get-go were adamantly against this game becoming The Forest. I appreciate that it doesnt take you half an hour to starve in this game.

You know what's fun? Playing the game and enjoying the survival elements with friends and constantly being on the lookout for potential dangers.

You know what isnt fun? Running around for 2 hours to do nothing more than loot in order to keep your character just above the brink of starvation.

As a serious past critic of the direction this game has taken, this is probably my favorite thing they have done. I get to enjoy the game, while still keeping an eye on my food meter to make sure it doesnt dip too low.

Terrible Stable Update. Bugs/server crashes out the wazooo. What are you guys thinking?

I'm pretty much speechless about how awful this 1.0 game is, smh.

Feels like alpha to me, sorry.

Not quite sure what's wrong with your client, but the only crashing issues I've had are when I'm trying to close the game entirely.

Is running quite smoothly for me, and I'm shocked to say that as I might be one of the biggest critics of this game.

but the developers never answer? all very nice this update but .... I see CHILDREN happy for the new car and weapons (which are a copy of the mod) in fact these send ahead the modders and then copy XD. said this but the whole survival part? has become a pub-like game. born in the airport you shoot yourself end. that is, it had a thousand features in the 0.55 0.57 versions as fractures. To fix the car you needed a thousand objects, etc., while now? nothing of all things. the food is infinite, zero fractures, the disease just makes you vomit but it makes you laugh, when it rained you ruined your clothes now? tifai the shower ahhahah that is, it has become an arcade game of the world war where there is nothing to survive. Is it possible that all these kids have drifted this game? they see a car and get wet, I guess for helicopters ...at the beginning you promised so many things but we are in the middle of the year and of all the past things that you have taken away and the new ones (you see movements, there are not any pg left over). Should I expect the game to continue on this path? ie an easy game without survival mechanics? sorry for my bad english

I'm honestly not sure what you're referring to when you say food is infinite. In my experience over the last 20 hours of gameplay, the food spawn is NOTHING compared to what it was in previous builds. I've hit large residential areas and grocery stores that appeared to be unlooted, and some on reset, and only managed to find two jars of strawberry jam across about 3 different major towns.

I'm fine with this, as the hunger meter has been drastically changed from previous versions (thank God) to be where you don't starve in half an hour.

  9. So It's been a while since I picked up the ol' Dayzz, and after reading through a lot of the patch notes I've discovered there is a LOT of new crafting options available.

After looking through the list of previous suggestions and doing a forum search, I couldn't find any trace of a possible idea: an in-game crafting guide item.

Basically it would be a lot spawn that operates as an outdoor survival guide that has a list of crafting options, possibly even spread out across several different volumes. It would be an object you hold in your hands and read through in the tab menu.

I personally think this would be great as it would eliminate the need for a third-party app or Google meta that you get your crafting ideas from.

If this has already been suggested, please feel free to move this post to the proper location.

  10. I picked up DayZ again today after a while, and when I logged in this happened.

I tried verifying my cache, and killing my own character. Other than uninstalling and reinstalling does anyone know of a fix for this extra set of hair elastic rubber band issue?

  11. I lost faith in this dev team some time ago.

They are just so far behind what is coming out now that it's sad. I still love the game, and still have lots of fond memories, but it's usually a once or twice a month adventure for me.

you will be far less disappointed if you just stop expecting anything groundbreaking from them.

The new trees and foliage are also not just for show. They don't disappear on low graphics settings anymore. Essentially everything you see in the world everyone else sees now. We see the same clouds, the same rain, the same weather. This might seem like a trivial thing, but it really isn't. Many games have false effects that only you see. You can be certain that the grass is hiding you now if you go prone.

Character and item permanence is impressive in the alpha as well. Items dropped stay in place for a long time. So do bodies and anything else really. Character wipes basically never happen anymore. I have had one character for over 8 months now. There are also container items you can use like tents that will store your items. These tents can last months if they aren't raided.

Thank God. The client-side issues were such a pain in the past.

As well as the disappearing foliage.

No point getting into the "DayZ is dead!" vs "it's Alpha!" debate again.  I'll check back once I hear it's finished.

Ditto. The average person usually doesn't like to test a game for four years and continually be told that "X is coming soon!"

"Oh shit guys X isn't coming soon our bad...but hey now you can starve to death super fast! (or insert useless game-breaking addon here)"

Ya'll got that shit on LD. In the meantime Arma III DayZ Exile for me.

The game is not in its full state yet, no point judging it at this stage. Many features are not in right now because we are basically testing core mechanics like server performance and client stability, also the loot economy is not in its final stage yet. You should wait until the game hits beta some time this year.

Whoa whoa whoa...so what you're telling me is the game isn't done yet?!

Dear Jesus thank you so much for letting me know. I had absolutely no idea.

And it's been almost...shit how many years? Four? And they are STILL working on the loot economy? Dear Jesus.

Yeah but were you ever actually interested in testing the game?

If you test most of the patches and read all of the status reports you will never be left wondering.

In 2,000 hours did it ever occur to you that how you were playing might have to change?

In the time it took you to post this thread you could have gone back and read some recent status reports to get a better grasp of the state of development.

No one here is going to hold your hand and get you caught up on the months you were gone.

People act like they love DayZ so much but can't be bothered to actually learn about the development or contribute to testing or the discussion in a proactive/constructive way.

Yes. I tested and provided feedback for almost every single patch for about a year. Then I pretty much gave up on it because people kept clamoring for more retarded shit to be thrown into the game like fucking beards, more realism (like dying of hunger in 30 minutes...OOH fun.), burying fucking bodies (smh) and the devs kept caving to the demands of people who wanted The Forest but with zombies.

Don't get me wrong the game looks great now, and they seem to have FINALLY somewhat optimized the game engine.

Also, if I have to look up a Wikipedia page on how to craft items in a game, that's poor game design. Pure and simple.

I'm just a guy who misses the old days of DayZ SA. It was such a fun adventure to play with your friends and meet up, and get into absolutely insane and tense fights with random people. You also didn't starve in half an hour then.

I came from the time of the loot bugs, being able to crawl under the hanger at NE AF, glitch through the wall of any ATC building, the net-code issues.

Even with all those flaws the raw version of DayZ was infinitely more fun than what it is now IMO. I just think they're going the wrong direction and getting away from what made the game such a hit in the first place, which is player interaction...not the satisfaction of making your own fire and warming up beans while doing digging animations to bury the zombie you just killed.
