GAAAAHH - Persistence still a mess.

Could just be your server. Had a barrel and buried stash disappear too.

GAAAAHH - Persistence still a mess.

In the back of my cynical mind I conjured a woeful thought - Perhaps Steam threatened BI with some sort of financial action if they didn't finish the game. Consider that the "Early Access Alpha" scenario is a big part of Steam's bottom line, and when companies like BI come along to cash in on the mere PROSPECT of a good game but offer no real path to completion (perhaps hoping to make a quick buck before people move on and forget), it makes Steam look like the arbiter of a sucker-scam. Bad PR for Steam if that's true. Sadly, this release officially feels rushed, and I'm fully expecting them to leave this one dead on the operating table having made it to "full release".
  3. Nice. It's YUGE! Where did you find your AK? In 0.63 I was making a pretty regular loop where I'd find it reliably, but since the 1.0 patch I haven't seen a single one.
  4. Folks - just wondering if it's the sudden uptick in server pops, or if they've reverted to a previous algorithm for loot spawn mechanics. You all may recall, long long ago, in a Slavic countryside far far away, one could only find M4's and high-value military loot like silencers at helicopter crashes. While AKM's (ahem, KA-M's) and other Soviet-era weapons could be found in places like NWAF and Vybor. I fear I've been spoiled by 0.63 and how easy it was to hunt down an assault rifle. Thus far in 1.0 I miss being able to find an AK at Stary Sobor or one of the military roadblocks. At this point, I've only seen the MP5 and UMP. Anyone hear anything worth sharing? Are Assault weapons and silencers still spawning in the small military locations?

New weapons spawning mechanic for 1.0?

I wouldn't ask if I wasn't coming up empty-handed. It's simply a matter of play style. If the high-value loot is rare again, I'm just curious. 0.63 was nothing if not chock-full of fully geared players.

The barrel won't come out of the car

I'm having the same issue - anyone resolve this?

    Stable Update 0.63.149525

List of things I've encountered, that should be addressed: 1. Can't remove attachments or magazines from my AKM, and in one instance I placed it down and upon trying to pick it up, I couldn't. Had to log to fix it. 2. The Lada sways opposite the direction of travel when getting into first gear or reverse, creating negative momentum that makes minor hills into car traps. 3. I'm starting to believe wetness is a thing with roads, and very minor grades, even whilst on-road become impassible. 1st gear needs to be far more 'torquey' and the rain shouldn't be presented as ice. 4. My group lost 4 car tents, 2 civilian tents, 6 buried stashes and 3 barrels on Sunday morning in some kind of persistence wipe - some of these items were in place and persistent for multiple weeks. Our car, fortunately, was not lost. 5. The M4 loses sound after the first couple shots and doesn't come back after a relog. My silenced AKM doesn't appear to have this problem. 6. Still can't unbox headlight bulbs. 7. If you make lateral contact with certain angles of the Lada, you’re launched into the air. 8. Prior to the persistence wipe, the camo netting would occasionally visually detach itself from the car tent. 9. Watched zombie ‘wander’ right through the front door of the two-story green house I was in. Suggestions: - There needs to be a way to fix can openers, and other small tools - that, or they need to last longer. I counted 7 cans on a pristine can opener before it was ruined. - The splitting ax basically loses an entire status level for each tree you chop.. this is just silly. - The headlights on the Lada are ABYSMALLY underpowered. While I can appreciate the value of not advertising my location at night with bright lights, a high/low beam would be sweet. In the back country and especially off-road, or when driving in any gear higher than 2 the short beam length is problematic. Maybe bind it to the same Semi/Auto toggle key as the M4. - Fuel consumption needs to be fixed. Having unlimited fuel by simply never shutting off the car is nice, but it kills immersion and makes it harder to drive the car into sensitive areas if you can't shut it off (if you're out of fuel and wouldn't be able to restart it). It takes almost as much time to run out of fuel as it does to refill the jerry can. Questions I have to the community: - Does motor oil do anything? (I've had one car with motor oil and one without, and there didn't appear to be a difference) - Are weapon flashlights not in game? - Is there a trick to the headlamp or does it still not work? I can turn it on in my hands but can’t do anything else with it. - Is the fireplace hearth in-game yet? The fireplace has a slot for stones, but I can’t seem to use the pickax for acquiring stones yet.

    Stable Update 0.63.149525

The lack of traction the LADA has on hills is offensive to my sensibilities as a car person. This thing is supposed to be 4WD and I can't even get up the hills around Novo on dirt ROADS. Is it the rain? Are the devs just f**king with us?? This thing should be an absolute CHAMP!! Save the offroad deficiencies for the Sedan and the 4-door Hatch when they're added. Oh, and GOOD LORD, the damn thing burns fuel like a Panzer.

    Persistence wipe?

Just wondering if anyone else experienced a wipe of their tents and stashes in the past 24 hours. I might have accepted it was the result of player activity while I was offline, but for the number of tents (4 car, 2 civilian), barrels, and buried stashes in very random secluded/spread-out places suggests a wipe.

    Persistence wipe?

I've wondered the same thing, but I've reasoned it can't be that. Our very first tent was erected about 3 weeks ago, and our most recent car tent was added early last week - they all disappeared the same day (Sunday morning). This has all the signs of a "wipe", which I thought was a thing of the past. I'm concerned with putting much time into the game at this point since any effort could just be arbitrarily wiped.
  12. Mr Jizz

    Persistence wipe?

I've assumed persistence is in-game since we were able to maintain 4 car tents and a dozen stashes over the course of a couple weeks.

    Smoking LADA

Pretty sure I've completely topped off the radiator - still smokes. Any thoughts?

    Smoking LADA

    I'm hitting "like" on this
  16. I saw this topic on a reddit thread, without resolution. I'm not sure if it's a bug, a balancing issue or my own incompetence ;) Long story short, after no small amount of effort I got a Lada running with about 3 bottles of water in a pristine radiator, and the thing started smoking almost immediately. While driving down a path, I hit what I can only assume was ghost, and the car stopped. The radiator was ruined, and the car wouldn't start (despite having a pristine good battery, plug, oil, gas and three wheels). I ran to retrieve a second radiator I stashed, and upon return there was little more than the whisp of smoke coming from the spot where the car had been. The car was full of gear and only the radiator was ruined. It took all of 15 minutes for me to fetch the radiator when for the car to vanish, so I dont believe the server reset. I know others have experienced this, but I'm not sure what I'm missing. Is there a step involving a tool (like the wrench) that I missed?
  17. Mr Jizz

    The randomly vanishing Lada

I get that. I'm merely commenting that the devs need to give you more than a few minutes to manage a ruined car situation before the thing just vanishes - bad for immersion :P I also wish there was some visible marker of a ruined car. I was able to ascertain that the radiator was ruined, but the car didn't have a status that I could see. Keep in mind, I hit "a ghost".... as in, the road I was driving had a clipping bug in it.
  18. Mr Jizz

    The randomly vanishing Lada

I think part of the problem is how quickly the ruined car despawns.

My $.02 about all this... The Infected Well done. You've taken an innocuous annoyance and transformed them into a terrifying threat that might actually shift this game back into a zombie survival game from a running simulator featuring PVP. I know it's just the beginning, but as a starting point the future looks bright. Some observations- Getting hit by the infected, while more numerous for each volley, does far less damage to clothing IMOYou can't outrun them, but there seems to be an early stamina system. I've had a few infected catch up to me, not swing and eventually give up."Stealth" is a MAJOR improvement, but at times it feels almost random. Its hard to judge what the triggers are at this point (sound and sight). Gunshots are an obvious trigger, but what else are they listening for, and what sort of sensitivity (opening a can from across the street, for example)? They also seem far less likely to spot you through a windowSome of the infected now seem to 'give up' after you've locked them in or out of a building. This is huge for two reasons: (1) if there is a second point of egress for the building, you can slip out without the infected running around and meeting you there (which also indicates they can't see you through walls any longer) and (2) the infected will "de-aggro" themselves. Meaning you could be in a building and the infected will give up and stop bringing attention to you, instead of continuously running around and shouting until you go out and kill them. They currently move in total silence. This is a problem and they'll hopefully have this fixed with the next maintenance. Keep your head on a swivel There is no reason to think the devs intended this. They've ruined my shoes several times :huh:I've found it impossible to connect a melee headshot They are still connecting hits from further than arms' reach. They're also registering hits without corresponding animations, i.e. not swinging, arms at side, but registering hits. This is particularly frustrating when similar shuckin and jivin would help you elude player attacks. This is my favorite glitch ever..... Apparently the infected AI can't switch attention once its locked onto something. So similar to an infected ignoring you to pursue a cow that it saw before you, if the infected sees you arrive in your V3S and pursues, it will not break this attention even after you've exited your vehicle. You'll notice in the photo like a biologist swimming with great whites and no cage to prove the absence of danger, I don't have my weapon drawn. They are completely transfixed on the truck. Use this to your advantage while it lasts. Looting It's been covered several times by other posts, but the loot system is truly random... well sort of. Confusing at the very least. What used to be a very routine activity (if i need item X i go to where item X spawns, if I need item Y I go to where item Y spawns) is now entirely different. Obviously there is something amiss when outhouses and BMP crashes are spawning dozens of items while heli crashes and barracks spawn nothing. The good news is that military loot isn't exclusively spawning in convenient little places that clans can guard. Hunter packs, Hi-cap vests, plate carriers (and attachments), sidearms, etc. can be found in obscure random houses, outhouses, sheds, barns and wrecks. Police cars are little treasure troves, and personally I hope this doesn't change. If this were happening in real life a police car would definitely be a good source of gear, and opening the trunk of cruiser might actually go something like this.. I found a mace lying on the hood of a police car. I have no clue how the heli crashes are supposed to work, or how they're supposed to behave with persistence now mandatory. In my 0.55 experience the heli crashes all have remained in the exact same location in a particular server, and not respawning loot. I know they're not completely broken because the first crash I found was an Mi-8 with an ammo box. I've since returned to that crash site several times over the last few days and nothing new has spawned. What IS very unusual is that the Mi-8 changed to a UH-1Y (smoker)... but still no loot. The other two crashes on this server also have not spawned any loot. Police stations and police cars seem to be spawning fresh loot. I tested this by throwing several PM73's off the roof of the station and returned a day later to find a new PM73 and an MP5K inside. UAZ wrecks also seem to be spawning loot. At one point I was standing near a UAZ with a drum mag, a few moments later the server reset, and when I logged back in the drum was gone and replaced by a P1 pistol. So it seems like there is not only a respawn mechanic, but also a replacement or randomization of loot in place that hasn't been picked up. I have yet to see the following: M4A1 or any of its attachmentsFNX (but did find a mag)AK101 or its mags5.56x45 ammo.45 ACP ammoAKM (though someone else said they did)Winchester Alaskan (but the ammo for it is everywhere)CR527 magsP1 mags7.62x54 ammo (though I did find a Mosin stripper clip)MP5K buttstocksSVD (is it in?)Persistence is close, but still not perfect. It's alpha, so arbitrary resets of persistent loot are to be expected, I gave up on tents regardless. I had two disappear over the weekend while full of loot, both after a server reset. Backpacks seem to be working however. I stashed a mountain pack full of loot and to my surprise it was still there two days later (~12-15 server resets). Personally I'd like to see this tied to the character profile instead of the server, that way I'd be able to access my stashes if I need to switch servers because of hackers. A side note about the V3S: It is now possible to die in an accident. No more wreckless joyrides through towns. I hit an indestructible road sign at about half of full speed and died on impact. Minor accidents are possible too, producing the blur/shock effect on impact at lower speeds. Curiously, a minor accident seemed to have ruined a pair of pristine boots. Be careful out there. There are random invisible obstacles out there, most of them off road, so be mindful when travelling at high speed.

The real question is are they vanishing or are they just non-existent?

There's been a stated purpose by the devs to end the reliance on looted pre-war goods. This means that even guys with can openers, automatic rifles and medkits are going to occasionally find themselves forced to hunt, scrounge and improvise. It will also make the future of persistence, inclusion of acquired soft skills, base building and a general reduction in PVP more necessary. Rareness of loot by itself won't increase PVP because these days it seems most everything on a corpse is ruined with just one or two shots. Banditry will likely increase, but I see that as a necessary tenant of the game, whether you choose to partake or not. I've read through the posts but i'm not getting a clear picture on the numbers of infected. Are we talking about double? triple? the number of zeds?

Has anyone located the Modular Pouch and Holster for the Plate Carrier? I've gone on about 8 full military loot cycles and haven't found them. The plate carriers themselves seem common enough, but I'm not convinced the attachments are spawning correctly. If you HAVE found them, can you remember where you found them?? I'm at a loss.
