  1. It's a personal thing, but if I turned up to a trade and there were other people around, I'd probably pull out. Sounds it was a closer call than you thought...

In my experience if the people who show up are clan tagged you're usually safe, not because one of the people overseeing wouldn't kill you, but because they typically don't want to ruin their fellow clan members reputation.

I'd be pissed if someone helping me out gunned down the person I was trading with.

  2. What I'm looking for:

    Winchester w/Hunting Scope

    SVD w/PSO Scope

    Military Tent

    Car Tent

    Hunting Backpack

    What I have for trade:

    M4A1s

    UMPs

    AUGs

    FNX

    AK101

    Ak-74

    AKM

    Complete Plate Carriers

    Smersh Vests w/Backpack

    High Capacity Vests

Tons of ammo and Mags, Optics, Suppressors (NATO East and pistol)

  3. If we're going to be 'realistic' then information that would be easily discernable should be listed, caliber, box magazine or internal, what parts can be swapped out. The barrel is threaded, it has an accessory rail/scope mounts, etc.

It's no longer an issue for me, but there are various firearms in game that have no caliber in the description or an incomplete caliber listed (I know something is only listed as 7.62 instead of 7.62x??)

As for medical realism, I don't know what kind of game you masochists want to play, but I sure as hell don't want to play a game with realistic injuries and treatment.

Get shot in the lower torso, need to find sterile room and a surgeon plus painkillers, anesthesia, surgical tools, and then at least 2 weeks before you're mobile again.

Oh, and if you don't have insurance they'll just let you bleed out and/or go septic and die in a ditch, which will take 12-24 hours real time, but you're in too much pain to commit suicide and are too weak to make enough noise to have zombies come finish you off.

    Seems like a fun game.

Seriously, there is a line where attempting realism in a 2d mouse and keyboard work crosses from fun and original to frustrating and clunky.

We HAVE to have some sort of information relay from the game to us in a instantaneous and easily recognizable way, because no matter how hungry, thirsty, injured or sick my character is I won't feel it. Sure there isn't a hud in real life, but that's because I don't need an indicator to know I feel hungry, or that I'm hurt, and until such a time as I can physically feel what my character is status messages or icons will be necessary.

And honestly, given how hard up so many people are about the game needing to be hyper realistic I think some people need to get away from the computer and go camping.

  4. I have both. See bellow for what I'd like.

I sent a friend request on steam and a pm here, but for reference this is what I know I have.

    -ACOG

    -NATO suppressor*

    -M65 Jacket (Tan)*

    -Green Spray Paint

    -Black AKM

    -Gas Mask

    -Sewing Kit*

Pretty sure I can grab a few of the other items as well, just not able to log in and check right now.

I'm not sure if anything with an asterisk is P or W.

  5. I'm still looking for a Military Tent.

We can discuss the price, I don't have a SVD, a Winchester, shermsh vest, a hunting backpack, or a Ghille Suit.

I mostly have guns and ammo, mags, a few pieces of clothing. Etc.

  6. This happened to me yesterday, logged in to my home server on the coast as a freshie, immediately disconnected and joined another server I frequent, had all my stuff, good thing since I logged out carrying all my best stuff.

It just means the server isn't connected to the central hive, if you were to log out after running around that server and log back in you'd be a freshie again.

Don't do anything, log out and join a server where your character spawns properly, then either play there or log back out. I didn't play yesterday because running around with a full inventory and everything to lose didn't seem all that appealing.

  7. I'm in the market for a military tent or possibly a car tent.

I'm currently at work, so I don't have a complete list of what I have to trade, and no time to type it all out. Let me know what you're looking for and I'll let you know. To save time I don't have an SVD or Winchester.

  8. I honestly, honestly, can't for the life of me understand how so much of the community (or possibly just a very vocal minority) thinks the devs should waste their time trying to fix server hopping, when server hopping in itself is a symptom of loot not being dynamic yet.

Combat logging, yeah that's a big issue that needs to be addressed, but you're mad because someone joined your server by the phat lewtz you were trying to take and killed you.People just need to stop being bad, when you hear the magazine reloading sound, gtfo. Stop hanging around military bases longer than you need to (honestly, how long does it take you to loot that this is a persistent issue?)

How do you know that guy was a server hopper anyway, maybe he (and possibly his friends) logged out there earlier. You have no way of knowing who killed you, so you're just making assumptions anyway.

The people whining about server hoppers are just as bad as the people whining about KoS, shut up and let the dev team work on fixing the real problems.

Edit: that's not to say that ghosting isn't a issue, it is, and the fix to that would be a lock out, if you leave a server A and join server B, you're not able to rejoin server A for some amount of time, say 5 minutes.

  9. Honestly, the only people who are worried about fresh spawns being able to fight are people who are who need defenseless bambi's to kill cause they even have problems with gun vs fists.

Leave it in, there's no better feeling than stalking and killing the bandit who's killing fresh spawns.

Anyone who can't kill a fresh spawn coming at them fists out is bad, and should feel bad.

  10. The only reason to play this game is gear. If I wanted to play a shooter there are much better games with far more polish than this game will likely ever have.

Dayz is about surviving, inbsteps you get food and water, get equipment, and once that is done you start saving those things (can't do that in sa yet since there are no tents) so when you die, or run out of them, you have somewhere to go so you don't have to start from scratch.

I don't understand why people play this to play a shooter, compared to triple A fps titles it falls so very short, the ONLY thing it has is far greater character investment and risk... And if you're terrible at shooters it also provides fresh spawn meat to make you feel like you're not bad.

P.s. I'm not saying killing is bad, the game would be nothing without it, just that I can't understand playing Dayz for that alone.

  11. Honestly I'd be more okay starting with an empty inventory and wet clothes than the flashlight.

And I'm not saying its hard to find loot, its quite the opposite in fact, which is why I think you should start with a bit more gear, it'll shave at most 5 minutes off of the hour it takes to go from fresh spawn to fully geared, but it will help new players, and it makes sense from a survival point of view.

Hell, why not just have us spawn in random army medical tents scattered throughout the wilderness (that don't spawn items) wearing nothing but a hospital gown and slippers, it'd even make more sense for when we die and respawn.

  12. Before I start I am NOT advocating for starting kits like we've seen on many private hives where you start with a full military kit ready to go to war.

However I think the starting kit needs some tweaks. While I understand starting with just a flashlight (because the only real thing to do in game is collect loot) it makes very little sense from a lore/immersion standpoint. Look at the game world, it looks like its been months since the outbreak, no one would have survived to this point with just a flashlight.

What I would suggest would be keeping the flashlight but adding wear to it and reducing the batteries charge, and adding a knife, a water bottle or can of soda, a box of matches, and possibly a partially eaten can of beans, all with wear and/or a low amount remaining.

The would be much closer to what at minimum would be required to have survived to this point without affecting the game to any noticeable extent.

  13. As much as I'm in favor of this, have any of you tried carrying multiple guns plus a backpack in real life? It's totally possible, but it's a real bitch, especially after you take into account the weight of ammo and how unbalanced it can make you.

I'm totally behind the idea of a drag bag though, sacrifice your backpack for an extra rife slot, give the pack maybe 8ish inventory slots. Another idea would be to add a M.O.L.L.E backpack, smaller than the largest backpack, but add item specific attachments for it, ammo pouches, hydration packs, weapon slings, etc. with how the game is built now it, and it's attachments would have to be quite rare, but you could make some of the attachments work on clothing like the tactical vest as well, a holster so a pistol only takes up 2 slots instead of 4, or so you can store 2 mags in one inventory slot.

  14. Because, it ruins the game, what's the point of the game if you can just go to a military tent in Balota, and server hop until you find the best gear in the game, without even moving out of the building, no risk, no effort, no nothing. Items are supposed to be hard to find, and you have to actually roam the map and scavenge towns to find things.

But what about when loot is fixed so it spawns dynamically based on players moving into an area and not on reset, when spawning into a loot location means there will be no loot there because the game never detected you moving through the loot spawn perimiter, so to make loot spawn you need to run 200 yards away and come back?

Everyone crying about server hopping assumes loot will be like this forever so we need a fix for it, where in reality its listed as one of their top priorities to make loot work similarly to how it did in the mod.

  15. For all those against it, remember this system was in the mod, it didn't have to be included, but it was. If anyone has seen anything officially stating it won't eventually be included I'd like a link to it, until then I'll assume it was done intentionally and will be done again.

Assuming that's the case, then I'm only suggesting additions to the system and balancing it. In the mod only hero's get benefits, this way both sides get a benefit and the system also becomes immersive, which would be a win win.
