Having at least one real city in the map
blackberrygoo replied to massacrorBKK's topic in Suggestions
Well I see the need for a giant lustrous city like New York City (seeing as its a huge city but not compared to the state) but I can see the argument that it would look incredibly weird in the middle of all the farms .. Maybe once islands are placed out in the ocean areas (I've heard this might happen ) we could have some ridiculous city on an island (like Honolulu, Hawaii) I would most likely make a trip out to this island a lot if it had an amazing city placed on it ... Of course it won't be tropical it will be a dark and rainy Eastern European island adding to the scariness of the city at night ... -
Throwing Knives / Sharp Objects to Kill or Damage
blackberrygoo replied to k3malb3y's topic in Suggestions
Throwing knives have always been on my mind since the mod , I think it's a great idea and needs to be implemented ... Throwing knives accurately takes some training though , but I mean so does shooting a gun and every survivor seems to do that pretty well , and like original poster said , you can find knives everywhere but they become useless if you have a can opener and better melee. -
I think this would be a good idea , but as far as healing broken legs id say we shouldn't make any herbs that insta-heal broken limbs ... Like someone else said maybe a make shift cast could be made that over a few hours of game time your leg would be healed . I know morphine healing legs instantly is unrealistic which is why I opt against herbs insta healing , but they would definitely be good for nutrition (eating some herbs) , casts , and healing sickness like antibiotics would . As far as something marijuana like , I could see it being harvested to prevent "the shakes" like when you would shake in the mod when too low on blood .

Ya I think most domestic pigs would die , especially if feral animals like wolves and bears could roam into farms without having to worry about people . and a "domestic" pig (pure bred lets say for this example ) would most likely never turn feral in its life time, although people claim that they "go feral" after 6 weeks that's just a misconception that actually just become aggressive as they are trying to now fend for themselves.. . It would need to mate with a feral pig , then the offspring would be feral (or at least in part ) and I've heard any domestic pig can grow hair and small tusks if it lives long enough..... Honestly if npcs were to be worked on I wouldn't mind a single player side of this game ... When I get bored of having to always be observant I'd probly switch over to single player to have some mindless fun ....

Speak for yourself man , the developers stated before standalone release that the game(standalone) , if successful and after full completion , will be ported to Xbox and playstation ... Also for the guy who thinks its impossible to assign all the controls to a controller , well it's not with a lil application called xpadder. It allows you to assign button combinations as well as single buttons for things so if a controller has 20 "buttons" (triggers or directional included and directions of analog sticks) it can have 20 x 20 combinations of buttons so you can literally map hundreds of "actions" onto your controller using multiple combinations (for instance , hold left trigger then press left, right , up , or down to activate hot slots 1-4) .. Pretty awesome on controller especially since the mouse acceleration is fixed ! Still not as good at pointing which is why I wouldn't want cross platform play , but ill defly purchase this game again when it's ported to ps4 :) ..

Can the Standalone not be persuaded by EPOCH's bad features?
blackberrygoo replied to ChristmasLunch's topic in Suggestions
In my opinion I would love to see locks on both houses and cars , but it shouldn't be so unrealistic like epoch .. in epich you legit can't lockpick things , in standalone I'm sure they would realize that some survivors know how to break locks , and furthermore some survivors would just break the windows of the car and hot wire it which I'm sure will be a feature when advanced vehicles are in .. -
Why the limits on zombies and loot? System to increase limits
blackberrygoo replied to RedgeZat's topic in Suggestions
Ok man well you seem to have all the ideas , despite every game designer making games this current way . Make an mmo and set it up as such and lets see if it works ... -
This is a great idea and Im sure it will be implemented once the server ,core, and zombie mechanics are figured out in the next two months (that's my theory, not concrete of course) ..

^^ you've been playing dayz MOD since 2012 the standalone wasnt out at that point so quit adding the mods length to the standalone just to make it seem like you've "waited so much longer" ...people sometimes ..This game (dayz) is revolutionary for the strides it's made on mmo survival games .. That is why h1z1 popped up out of nowhere ; cuz SOE was losing a huge cut in revenue due to the "massive" zombie survival genre (dayz) because people were realizing that the "survival genre" has more merit now that dayz is the main face of the genre ... So ps2 fans are veering and smedly is greeding... So they decided to slap together some baloney, and believe me they are copying dayz to a tee and that shows no originality , no promise , and no passion . I know all the little kids and some adults on this forum will buy into that h1z1 crap but know this : it's a scheme to take your money(clothes are purchasable , most likey the best clothes so lots of people are tempted to buy them ...the game is free to play , yet you also have to buy it like normal , but theres that huge incentive to buy things your friends have so for me the whole marketing thing is always present in the game which ruins immersion ).That's already more purchasing than dayz ever has been ...just like all the other cash cows trying to buy into things making money , I can see that smedly is incredibly desperate to take people away from the dayz community seeing as all the "major" concepts of their game (the ones that aren't copying dayz ) are concepts that haven't been fully worked on in dayz (like lighting things on fire and putting vehicles in from the start of the game) . .. So I say this to the ignorant : sure h1z1 will be a fun game to play(seven days to die is fun as well , you don't see people loving that game as much as dayz though ) , but it will take at least a year for it to be in a fully releasable state(without gamebreaking bugs and broken features ) cuz fact of the matter is makin an mmo is much harder than these dayz-hating keyboard warriors think it is ... and by a year from now dayz will already have advanced vehicles and everything else for that matter .. So if you are disappointed with this game leave these forums so i don't have to hear your terrible opinions about hate and impatience , because its obvious that h1z1 has no passion neither does smedly, he wants your money plain and simple , why else would a huge game developer whip together a game without showcasing it at all before hand (as in usually you hear of big games a few months before you can play them , h1z1 sprung up out of nowhere (claiming it will be fully playable in a month and a half) because its intimidated on the strides dayz has made and thinks it can fill in the gaps dayz hasn't quicker , and that maybe true (about somethings like vehicles , mostly cuz smedly is going to cut many corners like with proper collision of two vehicles and explosions) but that leads for pretty poor quality games/features . So please people if you are trying to convince us that h1z1 is better than this game (even though its not out yet and people are just assuming it will be better , which is hilarious btw) then go on their reddit (h1z1s) and please stop clodding up our forums with your terrible attitudes towards this game .. Wrastle me in real life .. Oh and one more thing if you've noticed all the buildings in h1z1 kind of look as if they are copies of buildings in the game Warz , but obviously much more detailed and amazing looking , if anything id like more is the american architecture of those buildings but i feel like even here he (smedly) is copying concepts from other games , maybe this is just paranoia though , wrestle me in real lfe .

That was hilarious , although I have to say the British accent really tops it off lawl, and the maniacs' pig squeals halfway through are priceless .

Thanks for the new Discussion area!

Bring in the epoch boys ? Are you retarded ? I think it's safe to say that people like you Mr. , are te reason why these forums are so immature , but hey every guys got a right to an incredibly impatient , one sided opinion right ? Haha and for everyone complaining new stuff is broken : that's what introducing new stuff does , the new things are usually always broken , it's not like they have 500,000 different pc models booted up and ready to experience all the problems that could happen with a new feature ... So lets stop being impatient , and realize mistakes happen (karmanovka not being added ) and go do something with our lives besides put down people who have done much more than you guys could ever dream of doing while complaining at your computers .

Rolling Update Rev - 0.43.116251
blackberrygoo replied to Hicks_206 (DayZ)'s topic in News & Announcements
Anyone notice any changes with the 140mb or so patch ? It must be a hotfix or something but all steam has in the "news" section of dayz is some bullshit about h1z1: the arcadey "survival" mock up game backed by cash cow . Edit : we're up to version number 0.45.123906 now ... Must be something hot-fixey;). -

I'm counting down til the realease to stable ... In my mind I'm saying only 6 more days unless something goes horribly wrong ;). I've been seeing a number of nice new things too , beatifiul log cabin house (at cherna polyana , IMO a little out of place being in the middle of all those Victorian style houses but still nice ) a cliffside (I think this is new ) near cherna polyana (new town?) and the aforementioned town itself . I really like the setup of polyana and it seems remote enough to not attract more than 4 people over the course of 2 hrs on a 50'person server ... I think when barricades are in I'm gonna take polyana .. -

You are just a sore sport huh haha ... But anyways night should defly be fixed a bit but to answer people's confusion , there are time accelerated servers (the one with "x" next to the time of the server) an the regular ones (without X's). I played on the accelerated one and hated it , but then joined another accelerated one and it seemed to be running at the perfect speed .. The ones that aren't accelerated , it takes like 1-2 hrs to switch to day from night and night from day .. I really like the night when I have my gas lamp but they are very hard to find , I can't wait til fires come in fully hopefully then the devs will remove the option to change gamma and brightness so everyone has to play fair. Also I would love to see a military (industrial?) flashlight added, one with a much bigger radius , cuz lets be honest survivalists wouldn't take the dinky little flashlight we have in this game haha but besides bad flashlights I'm loving the new stuff , can't wait for release to stable . -
When the map is clustered with towns ...

This is how dumb punching is in this game.
blackberrygoo replied to shaeg's topic in General Discussion
I honestly think the Punching knockout mechanic is there for the fresh spawns that can't defend themselves on loot less servers .. I mean come one people are you guys really defending the people who say killing fresh spawns needs to be made easier ? I've knocked out plenty of people with weapons using my fists, only to be shot down by one of their group members that is actually paying attention, so that's the key really pay attention . And if you got sneak attacked by a smart fresh spawn , well then you're at their mercy just like all your victims were at your mercy when you were holding them up with your m4 . So before we ask "why can't we survive this survival game all the time " lets rememer its because its just that , a survival game and although the objective is to survive you're not always going to . So people instead of arguing about a feature( that I think is great for lone wolves and fresh spawns ) lets instead think of other problems that actually matter (like machetes doing no damage what so ever , crowbar always losing in a battle against fists , and other problems like that that are actual fighting/survival bugs and problems) . -
Why is pvp and gunfights so bad in stand alone?
blackberrygoo replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
To me it's somewhat the same , I have to say though that the standalone is a little "wonky" , probly because its the start of the developers making a great aiming / shooting system . The mouse acceleration ,now fixed on experimental , makes pinpoint aiming much better. and when they add correct sway and weight of weapons the movement will feel more realistic. -
I like the hardcore feel of that but it's kind of one of those things we need cuz we can't move and search as fluently as we could in real life , I mean when I'm on the ground prone I can't even crawl under stuff , in real life obviously you could . And for me I mostly use both (ill look around first and if I can't find anything or can't seem to reach something simply by pointing ill go vicinity ) or for when you're runnin through a hotspot real quick , it's nice to be able to scoop a weapon up that you see , as you could in real life , instead of just getting rocked by the dude chasing ya haha .. So in my opinion I say keep vicinity , I see where this could break realism for some but I think for the people who first try and look around , this is a great thing to have to pick up anything left behind .
-
Yes it would so when vehicles do arrive I'm sure they will spread spawn points across the map , cuz like in real life you can find cars anywhere . so I hope that they put cars everywhere including the coast , but make them ridiculously hard to get running again . That way people can spawn all over the map and the ones that spawn far north won't have a better chance of getting vehicles (like in the mod , cars were always up north) and in my opinion I believe most of the vehicles should be very close to rust buckets and they should (mostly) be situated around the shore (as if the whole continent were trying to evacuate to boats and such). But when barricading, hunting , an vehicles come in people will surely be going inland and not just for the airfields , but to maybe find a house they like deep north and barricade it , also the majority of animals would mostly be in the north (considering its all woods anyways) .

doors will be breakable , maybe not for a while but it was talked about some time ago If I remember correctly.. And as for comparing this to other zombie games .. Lawl just lawl , lets stop there , there's a reason why THOSE games didnt sell 2 million copies in their alpha stage ... just give this game time and stop comparing . But on another note, I don't experience ANY problems on experimental right now except that when Im attacking a zombie sometimes they run away and eventually end up running into a wall til they disappear . so no dropbear I like the zombies because they are actually starting to get challenging , so lets not confuse the progress on the zombies with the glitches lawl( progress = aggroing more and being faster , being tougher could be a glitch but IMO we need harder zombies so I hope it's not , and don't say that the invisible zombies is a part of their plan to make them harder that's obviously a glitch and when someone says " I like the zombies right now " they obviously don't mean those glitches lawl.) And like someone said balance is necessary , which is why for a while now the zombies will most likely keep being tweaked until a really good personality is developed for these supposed "cause of the apocalypse " (zombies). -

I'm finally happy with the zombies now , please don't nerf them , this game is finally getting challenging :( ... Maybe zombies difficulty could be determined by the server? But of course there would be a minimum of how easy they can be ? Hear me out mr. green ...
