Experimental Branch: 0.49 Discussion

Woah ! Dime bags added ? Lol are we taking bud or coke? I hope it's the former and not the latter lol ! But this is exciting , both the small changes (new stuff , cigarettes cassette player ) and the large ones (new zombie models /animations , small villages to be "spiced up " , horticulture seems to be done , AND they're mentioning vehicles again :) ) -

Status Report - Week of 25 August 14

This ^^ the only thing that "suffers" is the dev blog being pushed back a couple days , not too bad at all in my opinion, as the game is still being worked on and I'm still enjoying experimental . -

Although some regard them too Highly , I don't care if we don't have a status report for a few days I just enjoy the game . But everyone is different and dayz speaks to a large community ! :0 -

I've been wondering this too , although I'm pretty sure it's not in experimental , I think they will have it on the next experimental (or better yet when .49 is pushed to stable , but this is just hopes). -
Was no one at PAX who saw the new build?
blackberrygoo replied to cartire's topic in General Discussion
Hmmm ... 45 posts and nothing but bullshit in each one of them ... Are you 12 ? Cuz you whine as if you wanted attention . But on a brighter note , it is secret and like Irish said no vids were allowed.. I've heard people say that vehicles were In the build (false I'm sure ) and others have simply said that the new renderer was to be the focus of the pax build .. I dunno well just wait to see I suppose :0 ! -
Dust 514 is a crappy pay to win game that's not actually open world and that game was a disappointment from the beginning because they wanted to be money grubbers and develop a crap game. you can't compare it to dayz or say that just because dayz is finally getting a chance to be on console (which was planned since last year when It came out in December ) that it's gonna fail, considering dayz didn't start off on console . it wasnt dulled down to begin with and it won't be dulled down for the console simply because we all know the devs of dayz are adamant of keeping a complex incredibly detailed game . it's sad that many are so paranoid simply because of dozens of other companies failed to make a good game or a good online game format like dust 514 ... Get real people we know you're all trying to connect apples with oranges so you can vent your frustration of how you can't kill the glitchy zombies , but every company is different and the roads they choose have nothing to do with failing companies that tried to make a big buck to begin with instead of making it for the passion of the game . Remember were not talking about sony taking over the development of dayz , they are just the publishers , so to speak , of the console version , but that still doesn't mean they get ultimate say on what's going into the console version ... Dean and his team have enough leverage ,because dayz is so popular , if Sony tries to yank them around and dull the game down it won't happen because they can pull out whenever they damn well please .. And if a contract is struck stating that they can't then there will be terms on the contract (I'm sure since rocket isn't business retarded) stating that the new publishers (Sony ) can't have much say over the development . Its not sonys decision for the most part and people are seeing the jump to consoles as some "sellout move to get more money after stealing money from the PC fan base" but that's not right after all we all knew that dayz was going to console from the very beginning (December 2013) as long as it made enough sales so why is everyone so butthurt now that it's confirmed ? Why , because you're so sure that they will just stop working on the PC version ? Lol I don't think so . In my opinion were so close to seeing all the major features implemented that everyone has wanted (zombies clipping / navmesh totally done , barricades added, building system , more complex Eco system and temperature system , persistence ,) seeing as the engine crap was what held everything back , so if we have just 2-3 months more patience we will have all the features that the big complainers complain about .. And for those who say "well the game is still broken while they bla bla bla bla" remember it is still alpha and don't give me that "stop spewing alpha for everything " because this is THE reason why it's called ALPHA and NOT normally sold to the public , but of course the public pleaded for the standalone to be released in alpha as opposed to beta so THIS is what you get , an awesome chance to see the development progress , which were almost through the first alpha stage of , but for the ones with NO virtue of patience and for the ones that don't understand that consoles aren't the ones that destroy the game , but the game developers company itself , well all I have to say is just wait and see because im going to be loving every minute of dayz alpha on PC until the day the console version comes out , then I will play that version an additional 800+ hours and love every second of that , but if you guys wanna abandon a great project simply because of your delusional paranoia and apples and oranges , go ahead there will be more loot for me ;) . Note: also the console version isn't supposed to be out for more than a year and a half , plenty of time to hire more staff , finish with alpha on the pc as we only have 3 more months (at least but shouldn't be anymore according to the road map , as long as they don't get dragged down by another engine issue ) .

Positive posts only: what feature are you looking forward to
blackberrygoo replied to aviza's topic in General Discussion
Yes I'm really overall looking for the survival feel to be complete , as others have said hunting to be more robust with more animals and I can't wait to be able to make our own structures and barricade existing structures ... We could make deer blinds and attach them to trees or even up in trees later on , and go into a city and barricade up our favorite buildings ;) really excited for when barricades come . -
Starting to think I'm too nice of a player.
blackberrygoo replied to OptimumVision's topic in General Discussion
That's not true ! I met a person at the balota airfield the other day on a full server it just takes two like souls (friendlies) to come together at the same time , the hard part is truly trusting the person ... Many kill within the first fifteen minutes of meeting someone else , if they are with another the usually kill on sight or wait til the very end of 15 minutes to build suspense within each other so the kill is greater which sucks cuz you truly believe you just found two friendlies until you get tortured by them lol .. But to the Original poster : don't lose your friendly ways ! We need more friendlies like you to help survive in this game , just never lose sight of what's really important to most , your gear :P and never give a friendly a gun or ammo until they've defended you with a weapon against another (as that usually shows trust towards you) . -
you have applied disinfectant spray to composite arrow
blackberrygoo replied to R0B3RTF1SH3R's topic in General Discussion
Holy shjte! Did you do this in game ? Cuz id say it does look like a poisoning system , maybe disinfectant is the only liquid that isn't edible right now so it let's you apply it as though it was a poison ? That's my guess and my hopes :) i want poison arrows . -
That's so weird, Cuz a friend I met in experimental a couple days ago he had told me that fire does indeed hurt you . So I stepped into the fire literally into it (only for 3 seconds or so ) and didn't receive any messages ... But this is an awesome thing and another reason why I love how they don't put down experimental patch notes , now only those that care to experiment in experimental will find out the real fun secrets :) .. I'm gonna burn captured bandits today while my girlfriend nags over direct speak to them .. If the burning doesn't kill them we all know what will ;) sorry ladies .

dont under-estimate the sporter .22
blackberrygoo replied to R0B3RTF1SH3R's topic in General Discussion
Hmmm I've never found the 10 or 5 rnd mags but I've found the 30 many times and I must agree wth you , besides the sks the sporter is my absolute favorite . Put that bitch down on a table and spray paint her black after finding a 30 round clip , go out and people think your some kind of bitch carrying that thing , but when they see the "you are dead " screen after making fun of you they rethink their next insult to a guy with a sporter lol ! -

Also make sure your ping is set to "0" in your filter so you can see all of them , you might be missing some as I think the default ping for the server browser is set to "100" (which after the last patch on experimental it seems all of them go above 100 at some point ). -
Lol I love the last one "rotten zucchini actual cause for zombie apocalypse " classic lol..

Exactly , and if all those complaining really understood this alpha process (or any alpha process) they would stop at " I don't like how alphas progress " not "they're doing it so wrong bro , they've made millions they've increased their team they should have features 100% complete when they are first added " cuz all of these are wrong ... The size of team could actually hurt the progress if all the work was done one feature after the next 100% , for instance too many people would be working on one features coding while many coders are still not bein used because they had to "wait until that feature is 100% " to try and help with the next feature ... That's a stupid way of doing things and only those looking from the outside in would ever suggest such a way of developing a game, the way they do it now everyone is always working on something , and we get a balance of things in one patch as opposed to just one 100% complete feature (that would still require bug fixing in beta anyways ) .. No doing it the way all alphas have done it for years now (since sandbox mmo's came out at least ) is the right way ; have many coders at your disposal all working on a number of different features , when one feature is 50% complete and just a little buggy they push It to an exp build , and then let the process of testing with us and collecting our data on it to figure out the rest of the 50% (which depending on the feature could take a while , like the nav mesh did ) and in that time the coders that pushed that 50% feature out are already working on a new exciting feature . So if they worked on one problem at a time I guarantee we wouldn't even have animals , heat/cold system or rag doll system in by now because they would have to "wait until each feature is 100% before moving on " . So I know many are frustrated with the fact that zombies are still Glitchy , that the lag/ Desync is still bad , that melee keeps getting improved / reworked which ends up "breaking it " for a patch or so but honestly most of this is just people gettin too mad over small things all adding up .. I felt the frustration of how glitchy the zombies were yesterday : I had four on me and for some reason I couldn't hit them when they were all grouped together (I was on a 100 ping server so not too bad and I was getting 40fps so it wasn't ping /fps related ) and after a long frustrating battle of runnin into houses that I couldn't lock them out with i died to the remaining three because they hit me from feet away thinking I was still stuck in the police station in between those two side doors while I was really outside running away . So long story short if you realize the frustrations don't exacerbate them by saying "this is all the developers fault they should have fixed this game before releasing it or at least fixed the zombies and stop breaking everything " remember that this is the correct process for alpha and the developers are only doing it the way it's been done for years now and seeing how it's process only frustrates a very LOUD minority , it doesn't mean that the other 1 million players aren't having fun . Cuz we are . I've only been frustrated enough to quit the game for a bit ONCE and it was when that patch came out (.45?) that was constantly desyncing so bad you couldn't even move ten feet without rubber banding (THAT was frustrating , all these other problems only suck if they all add up at once , but again you can't let it frustrate you as you know this is how the process should work, and you can always log out and try again later if you really can't survive because of the " unfinished features " aka zombies , lack of food/ survival stuff and glitchy bugs that end up in death ).
-
Hmmm ... Desync maybe ? I've seen people slide around on account of heavy Desync , but besides that vids or it didn't happen :) . I would love for them to implement dragging soon , it was glitchy and weird looking in the mod but im sure standalone would make it look better :0 !

Two Dissimilar Questions - 1.0 Weapon List and Gradual Item Decay
blackberrygoo replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
I'm pretty sure item decay is definitely planned ... I could have sworn reading about it in a recent dev blog or something (maybe I'm crazy ;) ) . And for question one, I'm with minion on this one I would hate for them to divulge the entire list before we even get halfway to 1.0 , it encourages people to bitch about things like said above a lot more .... But then again if the 1.0 list is complete crap in most peoples opinion, it might be good to release early so the bitching ends by the time it's actually up to 1.0 lol .. Buut I have faith in the devs that the list will be bomb so let's save it for secret . -

Dude. You're crossing bridges that are miles ahead of us ... Of course we all want snow and everybody including the devs have talked about it but do we really want snow right now in the un- optimized state dayz is in right now ? I'd say wait until the very end of alpha or even the beginning of beta to put in snow... As for now the temperature system is exciting and some people just take it for granted and try to play like they use to : run non stop in the clothes they like as opposed to warm/ cool clothes while taking breaks every now and again . And of course well see more emphasis on boots keeping out water but this is just the first stage like we've all stated so I'm really excited to see where this all goes . -

As far as I know they are holding off on fixing them ... But I would love to see those things work finally .. -
Well this suggestion is really to have more realism but mostly to make running with a gun out more of an option when you don't like switching back and forth between the gun and another item.. Basically my idea is, as long as you have a compass (or watch when implemented ) in your pocket you could "take a peek " at the item by using a set button and your character would pull the compass out of his pocket (complete with real animation of him doing so ) to reveal where to go on the fly while still holding the gun you had equipped in your left (or right ) hand .. After you press the "peak" key or whatever , your character pulls out the compass with one hand and remains a grip on the gun with the other (and I'm imagining the person still running Which is basically why I suggest this ) your camera wouldn't snap towards the pocket automatically either , you would literally have to free look your head down towards the arm/pocket that's holding the compass . And for those that still don't get what I'm talking about : it's like runnin with a two handed weapon , and when you need to briefly look at a compass per se , you don't have to change items just incase someone is about to come a round a tree or something and blow you away ... This way you could hold the "peek" button and then freelook towards the arm with the compass while still holding your weapon in the other hand / arm ... Maybe it wouldn't work with the mechanics and it's sort of an insignificant thing compared to the grand scope of things but I've always wanted an easier way to look at my compass with my gun still readied , as we can obviously do it in real life , even while running .

I like the duct tape idea but peaking requires no extra supplies besides what your peaking at (and pants with pockets of course) and it's something that would greatly increase agility when dealing with protecting yourself with your gun while navigating .. Like when we need to get across a huge mass of land but always want to be prepared with a gun in hand so if you were caught by surprise by a random hostile while peeking (at a compass) it's as easy as "let Go of peek button and shoot " instead of "hit 1 ten times and hope the rifle comes back out in time when you see a hostile .. In my opinion it just adds another dimension of realism , and could be put in along with the duct tape idea ... Attaching a compass to your rifle would be cool but like someone said before it would need a spot to fit, and besides where the scope is held there's not A very good area for it to go to be visible to the person holding the weapon (considering we can't move our necks and heads in game as freely as we can in the real world ) which is really why id prefer the peeking method :) ! But that's just my opinion :O !!

I played til 3 am this morning and met a person at the balota airfield , he saw me first and luckily didn't want to fight as he only had a few bullets in a sporter and a chambered 1911 (and most likely friendly to boot) ... We joined up on team speak and from there played a good 3 hours straight running all around the western side of the continent checking out the whole hyperthermic thing and we ended up having to stop a number of times to swim in the ocean (bonding moment for sure lol ) . The thing was my character was fine for the whole trip (I wore a black t shirt and black cargo pants and a sweet ass polka dot bandana ) but my friend seemed to be over heating frequenty (he had on some type of hunter pants with a pilotka hat and a mil vest with some hunting jacket ) . So it seems obvious that jackets overheat you easily and that you should always run in a tshirt unless it's raining , which can be annoying but makes for a whole new dynamic of how people keep their inventories , less weapons and ammo and more survivor supplies like jackets and things to make fires and cook food with... I just can't wait until accelerated servers come back then we can see a whole day night transition in like 8 hrs and have a use for watches (I love the feeling of only having a certain time until dark , it makes you feel like there's actual consequences if you don't get back to camp In time ) and hopefully some type of personal outdoor thermometer is put in , I would love to know the exact temperature to know if it's below freezing or not .. Can't wait to see this game around Halloween , it's really comin together and when it's "gored up" a bit more (I'm hoping they add some scary elements around Halloween :0) it will really feel like a zombie survival game : terrifying , bloody , and hard to survive but having many options to do so , this game has been so bare of real personality for so long (it's still been fun but it's felt more like arma with a new inventory until just recently when more survival elements like persistence , tents and body temperature were added ) and I've honestly felt like there was no true scary zombie element but now that we truly have to worry about our bodies and zombies are getting more plentiful and scary it seems as though this is now the game I've been dreaming of ever since I first played resident evil outbreak online . So all in all I believe this is the absolute best patch ever , I really hope over the next few patches they keep emphasis on building survival mechanics like improving the body heat system and trying to fix the accelerated server feature , as these features like I said earlier , truly make this game an amazing experience , now we just need barricades accelerated time and watches and daddy's set for a while . -

So any word on what the whole farming crops thing is about ? Is it not in until the push to stable or something? I haven't heard anyone talk about it really >:( .
