Let us all rejoice with orange (or chocolate) hostess cupcakes and twinkies tonight while we all play the new experimental ! But I'm going on after work ends at 9 tonight so somebody post awesome screenies of new stuff when they find it please ? -

That's weird... I'm pretty sure there was a tweet by one of the dayz devs a few months back showing their favorite "American junk food" and there was Oreos in the picture lol coincidence ?who knows ... If they only knew about twinkies ;) . 'Merica for the win . -

Yes I used to love the whole campaign deal til dayz sucked me into the "play your way" type genre haha ... It's been a while since I've "beaten" a game for that same reason , I think it was castlevania symphony of the night when I re bought it on xbox live ... I'm getting side tracked lol can't wait to see what maintenance brings tonight , maybe something besides maintenance ?? ;) -

As you said yourself , it's not going to stay that way .. I'm sure the devs are working on the next patch as we speak for .50 and well have a much more enjoyable experience when it does come .. As for now I switched back to stable so I can have more encounters with people , for some reason I couldn't find anyone in experimental :( ! -
Is This A Mechanic Or A Bug? Bone Condition Death...
blackberrygoo replied to jacobahalls's topic in General Discussion
Oh My God . Agathor has shed light on our ignorant dispositions may we thank him with a thousand deaths cAused by pvp because were so afraid of being spine-breaking-one-shotted by zombies ! No come on you guys in 800 hours of play I've only experienced a one "one hit kill" by a zombie and that character wasn't even alive for Long .. Just listen to all the posts in this thread of bone boys and smash stating that it's still a work in progress and unless you've been affected by this more than 5 times I wouldn't worry .. Live long playAs and don't let the man and his "informational" videos scare you as ALL Of these mechanics will change soon enough making most of these videos an irrelevant blast from the past :0 !rocklobster. -
I would love to be able to grow trees but it should defly take a while Maybe just a bit longer than two weeks and they should be hard to acquire seeds for the fast growing trees only because I could see a group of people over growing areas of certain servers :0 .. But there will definitely be more love to the tree animations and physics because after all dayz devs are all about animation detail .. I would like to see a tree felling system like The Forest , you just equip an axe and chop away until it falls , but id expect there to be better physics applied to the tree in dayz because the fallen trees in the forest roll away at like 25 miles per hour lol ! One last thing : tree forts for the win ! I would love making a fire up in a tree cabin elevated twenty feet above the ground !

How do You Keep Yourself Busy While Travelling?
blackberrygoo replied to nettles's topic in General Discussion
I pack a nice fat dank rip of Mary j smoke it right quack , then back to the total immersion fest of dayz ; Listening, watching, waiting for friendly and bandit encounters alike .. When i die unjustly or survive a ridiculous scenario I'll take another rip :). -
I feel like I'm missing something....
blackberrygoo replied to Grundlesmuggler's topic in General Discussion
This ^^ all my real life friends won't play dayz either (like the OP has stated , because they think it's a walking simulator lol) and so I've been lone wolfing for 800+ hours (and have found 10 friends I now play on steam with) , it gets easier when you learn to communicate like said above.. but also if you feel threatened by newly found members just ditch them because communicating is great as it gets many friendlies to come together but sometimes you find the backstabbers (and also very bad partners lol ) who either leave you when things are getting rough or who kill you when you find an akm they've been looking for :0 ! So Long story short go out on a limb and try communicating to a bunch of people , some will respond with KOS and others will want to communicate back :) just make sure you have the drop on them .. -
Where is this cave (huge hole) you speak of sir??

Etiquette around people sitting by a fire?
blackberrygoo replied to Death By Crowbar's topic in General Discussion
I would not do that lol and I'm sure plenty others wouldn't either .. There's way more fun experiences to be had if you have the guts to approach a fire with survivors at it ... Personally I would watch for just a minute or two to make sure there's noone watching in the bushes , then id creep up in their blind spots and depending on the mood I'm in , keep my gun up yelling something like " friendly don't pull out guns and I won't fire and I'll put it down " or if I'm in a lazy mood id Probly just walk up to them and sit down while pronouncing friendly lol , the former is probably the smarter choice though Haha. -

Actually there's a couple of diseases (infections ?) that affect apples and make them rot on the tree , also like you said if a bird pecks at an apple it rots extra fast because it's insides meet the oxygen :0 ! And if you've ever seen krabapple trees you'll know those things rot anytime it gets too cold (or hot I forget which one lol) and you'll see like ten rotten krabapples on a perfectly healthy tree :0 ! -

LOL! Stable is far from perfect with the hunger thirst rates ... I've ran all the way across the continent last night on stable , didn't have to eat or drink at all ... That's a little unrealistic in my book and needs some nerfing , yes this experimental is too extreme in the sense that there's no food but it's been stated many times (and right above your post ) that the loot respawn is not working as intended because of Persistance so we're obviously not making this the normal .. If the hungry meter was a little less rampant and there was more food respawning id say we'd be at the perfect level of loot/food to player ratio :). -

You're not getting my point or anyone else's , we all know that the calorie burning is off so please just get used to it there's no use in repeating the same thing everyone already knows ? Noones saying we're better than you , in fact my post stated that there's a little bit of luck involved but still very much knowledge oriented ( and don't take that as me saying you don't know what to do) if you don't know that you shouldn't sprint all the time then you will die when you try to sprint for an Unlooted town hungry , like I said in my post if you had bothered to read it , walking makes it so you don't die as fast of starvation or so it seems, so walk to the next town and check it thoroughly this is how I survived on multiple characters .So armed with that knowledge and the knowledge of going inland to have a better chance at an Unlooted town you will be fine , and I'm not saying this as a "you Will never die from starvation" tactic because of course there are exceptions, but it's not all about luck either like you say because I have survived for 4+ Hours straight on 3 different characters (all with crappy spawn points in looted beach towns) since we've started this experimental before dying to the usual zombies / leg pain you are dead glitches and at least 4 other characters who survived for more than 2 hours before dying to bandits . I've died 6 times now from starvation and I'm not saying that's awesome but I am saying that I understand what's happening so I can deal with it better (less sprinting don't bother with berries or apple trees , cooking worms to survive combined with eating fish as it seems easy to get all components for fishing rods except for axes ). If you can't get used to it (which many have done without server hopping by the way) then just stop playing experimental for a bit , and please stop twisting our words, nobody is calling you inferior simply because you keep dying but you need to open your eyes and realize although some are dying of starvation every time they spawn not all are and that it's not impossible to survive . Edit: besides all that, spawn points will be tweaked again multiple times I'm sure so let's not get too angry about the lack of loot , it's all to test to see what's the most balanced .. If there's 3,000 starvation deaths instead of the usual 200 then they know that they have to put the amount of loot somewhere in between the two values . Hence experimental ! -

Can we please just all agree to disagree ? :) ? There are cases of all people that judo , panther , and ripley are talking about(elitist who can't get enough of the game regardless of the state , and the other players who don't want to play because of the rarity of loot issues) ,.. Concerning the "elitist" mindset , I have it too , only because of the fact that I don't get too frustrated when I die of starvation or lack of loot which enables me to hit that respawn button and keep trying to survive , even though I usually die on this branch 4/9 times when I tried the first day it came out , but it improved somewhat to 2/9 (which usually I keep characters alive for weeks but hey it's an apocalypse after all :0 ).. To all those that are truly having a hard time : forget about experimental for now as there are literally no new things except some new map additions (pobeda dam is disappointing anyway I thought it was gonna be much bigger) , because as we all know the calorie and temperature system are a huge work in progress . Some like Cpanther said are getting incredibly lucky and are gearing up like they used to.. Now there are others who spawn in and die over and over and over again but end up surviving with no luck involved and I can tell you that's true because me and my real life friend played last night for five hours , he could not stay alive for the life of him , when I was having the time of my life just above Chernogorsk armed to the teeth with a longhorn and plenty of food :) ... Now sprinting ; if you sprint ,,,, STOP ! I heard about the deadly sprint curse and decided to walk / half jog from Cherno up to berezino , I wasn't hydrated or energized and had only a shovel to dig up worms and a couple cans of tac bacon but I made it to my friend in berezino without dying of starvation or even reaching the starving status , although my friend unfortunately died as I got there .. Long story short some people are hanging around the spawn cities and dying yes. But there are "elitists"(people who don't agree that experimental is impossible) who are also dying of these problems , respawning and seeming to have an easier time , it maybe luck it maybe tactics I think it's a mix of both as the loot system and respawning system is a little borked but it's getting much closer to an apocalypse feel , but the way the loot is , just like a real apocalypse would be, some get lucky and some use their skills to survive if they have the opportunity based on where they are in chernarus and there are others that have a mix of the two skills and luck . So let's chalk this up to we all know that they need to and are redesigning loot spawns because they seem too low now when they were too high before , so this is experimental at its finest we just need to stick through it guys . Stable is very fun still though if you guys are hating exp ! -

I'm pretty sure worms can be cooked now :) I was just in Svetlo had a shovel and was futilely digging for worms , found like 4 bunches and noticed they now say "eat unprepared worms" whereas before it said " eat earthworms" or something like that ... I was gonna try and cook them but my guy was dying of starvation so I needed to look for food .. I find a whole bag of rice and decide to eat all , halfway through the animation I fall unconcious from starvation ? I think when the eating animation starts the hunger should stop increasing until it's done because I was literally eating food when I died of starvation lol! -

Where have you been looting ?! Share your secrets ? :) Just managed to stay alive for a good long while , about 2 hours .. Found just enough food to stay alive for that long but sprinting definitely wears on your hunger more ! I was getting chased by six zombies (screenshots to come :} ) and I ended up just ending my life as (I was starving and found only 5 fire extinguishers in the fire station of electro and basically all of the town) by wielding a fire extinguisher against the undead , I did quite well killing 2 , and a third succamb to the other zombies strikes lol .. Exciting as this is I definitely would like to see a bit more food / respawning food ... It's a little tough but maybe I should just try walking inland (and not running lol )! -

I've actually just plugged in my controller last night in a long time , .49 seemed to have made it so we can't use controllers anymore but last night I decided to try it again on .50 ... They must have changed something because my xbox controller (in conjunction with Xpadder) is now just as responsive as my mouse and keyboard ! So if any of you controller lovers out there see this , use an xbox controller (wired is easiest) and use Xpadder to configure controls , I had no movement bugs like when I was using KB and M and it felt a whole lot better than before when you could barely move in full circles because of the horrible default sensitivity for the controllers.. Playing with controller in Dayz is awesome (especially getting that first bandit kill) and I just configured a great way to use all the keys, even team speak although im lone wolfing it today so I won't need ts for this adventure ... -
the bow is terrible at anything longer than melee range
blackberrygoo replied to Hi Im Brad's topic in General Discussion
I hate the bow and have to agree but like Gannon said it will definitely get better , all early added weapons have seen their ups and downs but eventually get greatly improved. And that brings me to the crossbow ; I actually like it but the damage definitely needs a boost , it takes about 2-3 shots in the chest to kill someone at close range with it .. I've killed 3 people with crossbows 2 of them when the crossbow used to kill in 1-2 shots anywhere and the last when the crossbow was "nerfed" to what it is now (which I'm sure will change again) so it's not completely useless like the now and arrow Is right now .. -

Bomb threats a little too extreme brownies but I appreciate the effort :) .. But I need peepz to post their findings here so I can survive the night lol ;) ... And Barnabus I have enough fried chicken for the both of us lol ! -
Did any one pick up on this : Design: Advanced melee combat string table ^^ I wonder what this is ?? It's intriguing ! ;) can't wait for horticulture barricades and vehicles ... Also we need to hear about them wolves and bears !! It would make for a lot of people to make use of private shards as well for when that comes for the people who love PVE :0 !

Sandbox, "innovative" or "Undeveloped"
blackberrygoo replied to Cpanther's topic in General Discussion
Yes some people would rather be pointed in some random direction and told to kill a bunch of people but what's the point in that ? Gamers put hours into beating games to experience all of their content but when you're just grinding objectives you get incredibly bored and hardly immersed which is why mostly all console games end in mediocrity especially if there's no multiplayer . In a game like skyrim it's a large enough "open world/objective linear game"( meaning you can do many different quests or just blow it off completely and run around killing ) so that it's entertaining for longer than the average linear game , but still after weeks of playing we can still safely say "ok I've played everything in this game now" (unless you play skyrim modded of course , which is highly recommended). So to avoid this you have to do what dayz did and take your time to make it detail oriented and very much so player involved instead of story involved (with multiplayer of course !) , so that instead of whizzing through a story line we have infinite amount of fun as long as we can find something to do , and with the new features coming we will never run out of things to do .. In a game like Dayz, especially in the state it's in now which is a half complete alpha , many people miss the point in the greatness of this game : it's attention to detail and beauty but most importantly it's encounter mechanics .. In no other game will you be sporting a gun and worrying about your characters well being. In all other shooters or "survival sims" there are no intense moments that pump up your adrenaline as hard as dayz does .. Now mix that with all the features already discussed and promised like zombie hordes, barricades , construction of shelter, vehicles and vehicle repair and you have the perfect apocalypse survival sim / open world sandbox. When all of this including optimization is complete we will have an amazing atmosphere built from the very simplest of mechanics that are still not utilized by other games (no health bar, easy to die and high adrenaline fire fights due to the "perma death" mechanic of losing all loot upon death) and advanced mechanics (horticulture , working food chain of animals , locking/barricade system, construction system, vehicle repair and maintenance) that although some are in other games , they still won't match the feel of the same mechanics in dayz simply because dayz took it's time to make the gameplay so much more immersive , intense , realistic , and detailed oriented than the dayz mod or any crappy linear objective based game out there . Sandbox is the next generation of gaming , I really hope ps4 and Xbox One learn from games like dayz and start to develop ALL games for those consoles as a sandbox mmo (or at least just sandbox ) .. As long as you have a good base theme for the game (like apocalypse) and a great attention to detail to make the game as life like as possible you can have an open world objective-less game that's totally sandbox , that's something that I think the game industry (more or less) is realizing must be done to appease gamers now adays which is great because I haven't played an Xbox or playstation game in years simply because I can't do whatever I want in them .. -
Hmmm do like I do when you don't know if you should kill or not : shoot him in the leg then circle around him telling him if he takes out a weapon he's dead , If he doesn't take one out then I usually make a new friend :)
-
Alphalpha Alphalpha ! I'm sure they will be fixed. If you like pvping so much then you should be used to dying in ways that frustrate you :)
