  1. if you let him go, he either doubles back on you or spots you and gets you instead.

killing him means he is respawning kilometers away.

    which option keeps you alive

also there is the just leave him alone option but fuck that shit

    LOL.. ;)

It was a judgement call based partly on where he had been.. I could tell pretty quickly that he had been on a Cherno-Balota-PavlovaMilBase trek, and since that was opposite of where I was heading I knew I should be safe letting him pass. Of course I never even let him see me, no chance, so that there was little threat of him doubling back.

    Depends where you are and what they carry;

airfields, cities and the MB's are shoot on sight instantly.

Guns and melee weapons are instashots instantly.

I have a trigger finger if i see someone with a large backpack because they can hide a weapon in it.

I was there once.. for quite a while. But Ive found lately that I find everything I need really quickly, no need for gear really.. loot seems over abundant. So everytime I see someone my only care is interaction. And since this guy was more of an obstacle in my way then an attraction at the time, I figured the safest route for me would be to go around him, not let him see me, and move on my way.

I guess this really comes down to my experience? and rarely feeling "threatened" at the sight of another player. So far, recently at least, I seem to spot them and they never see me unless I intend for them too. So feeling like an armed player needs to be "taken out" to save myself is not something Ive gone through lately. But I know what you mean

  2. My pops always taught me to work smarter not harder.

So I figured taking a little time to figure out how to auto run would be way worth my time. Besides my keyboard is pretty tough to press the keys. I miss my laptop keyboard where the keys basically type under the weight of gravity haha!

Maybe I'm just a big World of Warcraft baby or something. Autorun has always been a major part of my gaming career and with a game like the STANDALONE where walking is 95% of what you do... I couldn't deal with it!

Yeah, autorun does not really have a place for serious players in Dayz imo.

It takes me 10 mins to run most places in game, so its not really necessary in my opinion.

    Best of luck! :)

  3. Haha the thread is titled "Auto Run Tutorial"

I don't see why someone who's not interested would even click on the thread.

You didn't think to consider maybe I was until I actually read what you had in mind? ;)

..maybe don't be so defensive also. Its just a post.

  4. "I'm helping you whether you want it or not, God dammit."

To OP, I think you did the right thing.  Considering loot is not that difficult to come by, you don't really need anything that he was carrying (which bullets may have ruined anyway).  Personally I would have let him go as well if I was in the middle of something.  If I'd had some free time I probably would have tried to guess where he was going next and track him for a bit.  Watch over him and make sure he doesn't get into trouble or anything, y'know?

Exactly, if I was not in the middle of something else that was more important to me, I would have done something.

  5. ..and the 2 of you cross paths, what do you do?

Do you shoot them, or let them pass? Lets toss aside the, "well if I felt threatened.." as we all know its shoot to kill for most in those scenarios.

But what do you do?, when its just a few players.. 2-3 max. and you dont need to shoot them, but you could.

I was playing earlier.. server restarted. So I rejoin, and continue my trek from the NWAF to Balota. Shortly after rejoining I get to the Pavlova Military Base. I hit "P" thinking the server has refilled again but its just myself and 1 other player. Then literally 10 seconds later I see him dash across the forest and into the barracks in front of me. Now I had myself an easy kill, no problem. He had no idea I was there, with 2 on the server he was carefree as a bird. But I thought, "Well, if that was me.. I would either think hacker or not want to play this game from my horrible luck after being shot like that." So I decided to let him go.. and it felt really empty. I mean I was on a mission, so he was far less important. Time was of the essence for me, so I just let him go. Not my style, to not at least talk to him or do something. But I guess in the end Im glad as if that was me, I would have wanted the same in return. Just let me pass if you have better things to do ;)

  6. Good find! Still have never seen one yet myself.

Today I ran to the NWAF.. in one sweep (on US West 4-057?) from the North end to the middle of the airfield, not including the firestation/atc or anything further south

    I found:

    LRS - worn

RDS (x2, different versions) - Pristine both

    PU Scope - Pristine

M4, then found next to each other in the same hanger - pristine MP handguard and buttstock + 3 coupled mags

    1911 w/2 mags

    FNX w/1 mag

Amphibia w/2mags (all mags found separate from pistols)

..passed up on an SKS and a Mosin. I just got so overwhelmed by the loot I found in less than about 30 minutes that I just logged out and went and did other things. LOL :P

  7. To sum it up:

Magpul handguard and Buttstock make the accuracy. NOTHING else, not even partconditions. You can have a badly damaged handguard and it won't differ from a pristine one.

    Check this  http://www.dayzdb.com/items?type=27-attachment

-minus dispersion is always what you want.

Hmmm, nice. I always thought condition of parts did matter? I wonder is this true for all weapon attachments? (minus some scopes with obvious, visible damage issues)

  8. There hasn't been a recent fedora topic, we need a new one.

I think adding a fedora and a special tipping animation would be awesome.

Also weed, to cultivate. (And smoke)

Admins : smite this topic if it's dumb.

If they add this soon, in about 3 weeks can we have a community event where everyone meets at Devils Castle and maybe Cypress Hill shows up to play? ;)

  9. I do see your point Irish, that would be a good idea. Maybe in the future they'll implement this.

Thanks! :) ..They sort of did with the dev tracker and the whole informations page on updates. But since its all up to the devs, who are busy, to update it.. things fall through the cracks. This game would do really well with a community manager. I hope that someone sees this and thinks the same, maybe it will happen one day ;)

  10. So soon in Q2 there would be support for mods in the SA.

I want to see what you people would want in a mod for the SA.

If you can create any type of mod you want for the SA what would it be and why?

I want Namalsk (snow map) and Lingor, (I think its Lingor that is the jungle island?) ..anyhow I want that and possibly Origins, Epoch, and Podagorsk (Z.nu)

But my most wanted is Dayzero BMRF.me hosted. :D

  11. hmm, I once shot a zombie with one shot at 500 metres with an M4 with ACOG, magpul parts and a bipod (prone). And I am really not that good at shooting in this game.

    Nice shot!

Yesterday I shot one at about 400m with my BUIS standing. Headshot. I felt good about it, and saved my buddy in the process ;)

  12. Anyone else think the game needs a black backpack to help the players go completely dark? Maybe a black hunters or talon to allow the players to complete the outfit.

    Edited for spelling :/

I think we should be able to paint the hunter pack only. Either green, black or camo version. That would be very nice. But I do not think other packs should be paintable as it would create an issue with the balance each pack provides currently.

  13. Item condition has less to do with it than the type of attachments. Basically find a magpul handguard and buttstock (NOT the CQB) and it becomes bearably accurate. Throw a bipod on it and it becomes like it should. I am still trying to figure out how a surplus mosin can outshoot an M4.

M4 accuracy is horrible and no where near realistic values.

with the MP parts it becomes the most accurate weapon in the game when it comes to dispersion. ;)

Hm ok, so I have to adjust my zeroing, get magpul handguard and buttstock (not cqb) and a bipod and it gets accurate? Another question; the bipod only improves the aim in prone position right? So if I kneel it has no impact on accuracy?

Correct on the bipod.. you wanna trade my BUIS for your acog? Ive been looking for one for a while. ;)

  14. That's the thing though, why should they waste just a tad more effort because people don't wanna dig deeper for update info? Damn, the amount of time he spends here fighting with us could be used to look at the Dev Tracker. xD

Well, it would not be a waste on their part. The admins and mods already spend countless hours cleaning this place up, and I would be willing to bet a good portion of that has to do with people wanting to know about patches and changes, etc.. Not everyone is at the same level when it comes to PC usage. Some need help.

It would make things streamlined to have one post, that updates whenever the game does. Even if its just to say, this is a test nothing to see here. It would not take up anyones valuable time if they simply had an admin or mod do it. As it is now, devs already take the time to answer twitter. Why not use your own actual website for communication? It is sort of backwards how they are handling the communication with their community during an early release alpha test. Normally you would want to make it easier to provide feedback, not more difficult. Personally, Im fine either way though. I just think they could make things a little more accessible for users.

  15. I mean, it may sound wrong to say it like this but maybe we need to do a "race race"? Have several people all spawn in as freshies, different races each person. Then they all sprint to see if there is any difference. As new spawns, everything should be the same except for connection/ping. So this would be the only real way to test this properly. Im being a little facetious with the title, "Race race" but it is spot on as to what needs to happen and I am not trying to offend anyone with my slight levity. Hope I didn't. ;)

  16. Night_Stalker: Because you want to know what's new, and can't expect people to do all the searching for you. The Dev Tracker actually has some valuable info and gives you a quick overview.

If you don't feel like "searching everyone's twitter", then don't and stay uninformed or behind on info that interests you.

I see his point and his folly. He needs to be willing to dig deeper for the information, but on his side the devs, with this being an early release alpha, could genuinely do well with having even a volunteer community manager, like one of their forum admins, who would have the sole task of correlating all of the data and posting it up in a nice easy to comprehend and read thread. It would not be that hard to do, the devs could let him know when a patch is going live and could send him the data to type it up and post it once it does. Then everyone could go read it, and not have to ask so many questions like they do wasting even more time than if it was just handled properly to begin with.

  17. Weird stuff. I had never seen it since the patch where they just dont see you or aggro on gunshots. But as soon as we split up my buddy had all sorts of issues with Zeds aggro. I will have to test later but I think it had to do with my buddy having a bad ping and desync issue while we were close to each other. If thats the case it would make sense why so many people have problems running together, and would also mean that any pvp would have some serious issues here and there with desync, etc..
